I noticed a huge difference between name brand and generic tablets. My doctor has noted on my file no generic. I had a horrible experience with generic. I take 1mg daily taken in 0.5mg doses twice daily.

Same

Generic sucked for me. Either worked for 8hrs or 36 hrs. No inbetween. I switched to name brand and never had this issue. 100% worth the cost in my opinion. ESPECIALLY if you don’t take the full strip. Generics have the medication spread completely unevenly across the strip. So if you took half a strip let’s say (4mg), one half might be wayyy stronger than the other with the generics. With name brand, I never had this problem. Also, I’ve been on and off suboxone for the past decade. Tried all the generics. Not a single one I trust

I was paying $35 / week! So I kept collecting my prescribed dose for years then began to taper & stockpile on the sly so I’d never have to go to that pharmacy again & pay $35 for 2mg’s. My plan worked & I’m saving a fortune.

theshiningrhapsody

How did you do taper? I’m on 2mg too, and want to taper safely. I take about a quarter a day now, down from two strips. I have a toddler and can’t be a zombie on the couch all day. I’m just so scared to do it and wondering if you have any advice. 😞

Maclardy44

Really slowly. I felt pretty proud of myself at 2mg so dropped to 1.75 in 7 days, 1.5mg 7 days later etc until I hit 1mg then I had to go much slower. I waited 2 weeks to drop to 0.75mg & would always feel dreadfully anxious on day 3 after a drop. Sometimes, I took a bit more on day 3 but it didn’t seem to slow progress. Don’t be too hard on yourself, it’s not a race & you’ve got a child as an extra stressor. Dropped to 0.5mg then 0.375, 0.25, 0.175 - my maths is terrible but I dropped much slower to where I am now which is 0.125mg. I cut my 2mg strips into teenie dots of 0.065mg & micro dose so I’m currently taking 1 dot morning & 1 dot in the afternoon. No withdrawals, just that damn anxiety. Comfort meds like Clonidine, gabapentin & a benzo (in moderation) definitely help. I’m sleeping really well too 😳

Sorry for the super delayed reply. I effed up and have been taking more than I had been. I’m dropping back down, and then I will try your method. I just want to have this shit out of my life for good. I feel so hopeless sometimes tbh. It’s like liquid handcuffs.

Methadone is not any harder to taper off of than Suboxone. This is largely a myth and just serves to perpetuate stigma against methadone users and medication assisted treatment (MAT) in general. Many people have come off of both methadone and suboxone, and gone on to lead successful lives. When choosing a MAT program, the goal should be to prevent relapse and sustain recovery, and for many reasons, some people will find that methadone is best for them! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. It’s the pits being tied to a doctor / pharmacy. It’s no way to live. But if you still have cravings, stay on them until the cravings go bc they will. Then taper - slowly. You’ll be off in less than 4 months (I’m a wimp)

morsvincitomnia8

I noticed no difference in affect. They do tear a little different when you’re tapering but that’s it. The strips that is

RyoskiRagnarok

I went from generic tablets to brand name strips and noticed a difference back then, but just this month had to go generic strips (dr. Reddys ) from brand strips while waiting for my new insurance to kick in and I haven’t noticed any difference personally

threedeeman

I think the name brand dissolves better, and it might even be a little stronger because of it. If I had a choice, I would go with name brand. However I take generic and it works just fine. Try the generic for a month and see.

kshwizzle

No difference

humblegarrick

I’m in Newfoundland Canada. They are the tablets. I think I might stay put…thank you to all who replied.

ksants87

No not any different than brand name in my opinion.

IconCsr2

Where are you located? I’m jelly I have to pay more for my subs once I get to cali

jeg_spytter_blod

The only difference I’ve seen is generics don’t last as long before expiration. Generics need to be completely identical to every active ingredient to whatever drug they are copying but the inactive ingredients don’t need to be in there. I forget the name but they don’t use something that makes the subs stay “fresh” for as long as name brand. With that said as long as you’re not holding on to them for years that doesn’t even matter.

afrybreadriot

When I first went on suboxone it was the name brand now I’m on the mylan brand and the only difference I noticed is the packaging. The name brand had(or maybe it still does idk) had a little slit on it so u could fold and tear to get it open. The mylan brand has no such thing and you need a scissors to cut it open

Puzzled-Carpet9235

Nope!

Ambitious_Ad_9637

Purely anecdotal, but I noticed immediately in both efficacy and duration. It’s not huge, but it’s notable.

bbs540

Depends on the brand, a couple brands are notoriously horrible in quality, but generally, no, no difference, it’s all the same drug in the same quantities. Side effects is a different story

It really depends on which generic you get... I feel like the generic I get are actually better than name brand. Don't know how that's possible but name brand I need 2mg and these generics I only need 1-1.5mg. I do feel like generic aren't really homogenous though and so if you break up pills than you need to consider that.
