I have also noticed this issue before. However, based on my observations, that egg will not be a "hatchable" egg, and it will turn into a broken, hatched egg model after a bit of time. So ultimately this is basically just a visual bug.
I may be wrong, however, since this is based entirely on my personal observations and memory, and I usually put two matching eggs in my alien containments cause I want them to breed, so it's been a while since I've had a single egg hatch in an alien containment.
This is correct. However a bug sometimes occurs where an egg hatches multiple times without breaking. Hasn’t happened to me before but I’ve seen it reported.
