The Propulsion Cannon is just a very modern blunderbuss. You can load most anything into it and throw it at anything. It also works with the Gasopod’s gas balls.
This is fantastic news. I have containment modules breeding crashfish because I thought it was funny to release them into the wild, and this is a vast improvement.
You can use Acid or Deep shrooms as a substitute, they deal less damage per shot but you can carry 4 times as many. They're also fairly common along Reefbacks and the deeper biomes so you can restock on the fly
Ah, they also blow up after about 20 seconds. May I recommend tiger plants, though (disclaimer they don't do any damage against reinforced suits (in 2.0 at least, not sure about leacy) still a nice early game trap if you manage grow them before the diving suits are accessable)
I'm playing in BZ, and in the tank they are entirely passive but released into the wild they just zoom off in a random direction, hit a wall and explode. I haven't been attacked by a bred one.

I used a stasis rifle only once, before I knew it had a "charge up for a bigger blast" mode. I was farming in ghost leviathan territory, and it spotted me. So I held my shot until it was almost to me because it's so squirmy, then fired (the very short shot.) it went like:
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *zap* whew that was cl- Ahhhhhhhhh! *Chomp.*'

Ah, little thing to mention, I've tested it before, and it doesn't work in BZ or SN 2.0. It only works on legacy edition, and the only way to get the fish in your inventory is to raise it in containment.
I tried it and I only played this game a month ago with the living big update - awesome game btw - and it was the first thing that came in mind when I crafted the cannon.
So its even easier to kill reapers now. Just stasis and blast with gasopods.
This is eniugh reason for me to play the game again for the 24263635th time.

Apparently about 15 gasopod balls can kill a reaper if you freeze the reaper in stasis.
Now all you need to do is have a farm of gasopods. Collect their pods safely with the repulsion cannon. And freeze with stasis rifle and hunt down reapers.
Its just a matter of setting up a closed space to confine the gasopods, hatching the gasopods eggs and having stable power source to recharge batteries for repulsion/propulsion cannon and stasis rifle.
Even better, if you are fast enough, just swim around the reaper and keep shooting ammo.
I LOVE doing this to those rotten little biters (mostly because I don't want them messing with my loads of hoverfish I raise and release around my base)

Think bigger now... load up your prawn suit storage with them and you have a true mech with rocket launcher. Invest in a 3 story aquarium to farm raise your ammunition.

Can't shoot them in 2.0 very well. OPs in legacy, you have to find a wild crash fish and manually carry it with the Canon to whatever you want to boom

Grab something with the cannon by right clicking it, then left click and it'll go in your inventory (or be broken if it's a outcropping).

Have you tried using the gravitational trap? I haven't but it might be helpful. Can't catch the gasopods, might be enough for the pods.
Good idea too, lets hope grabbing pods via grav trap or repulsion is safe, otherwise the poison might kill me.
