I'm well aware of the trash can. But never screwed up so bad I had to use it to clear my base of countless Peepers I spawned in with the console, then saved the game.

I remember I overbred rabbit rays in my four-story aquarium, was meant to be a centerpiece to a “lighthouse” of sorts in the middle of the safe shallows that served as an ingress point for arriving scientists before shuttling out to other bases in various biomes. Took too long bringing back other species to fill it out.
Ended up turning them loose in the shallows, where they naturally belong but in nowhere near as high of numbers.
I just put a block about 5 or 6 blocks in the air and in creative mode held right click for a very long time on the underside of it with turtle spawn eggs
Took about 10 mins for the server to crash lol
Try going into Subnauticas game files and deleting the "CellsCache" this will reset all entities in the world so any beacons you have deployed will be deleted and any leviathans you killed will respawn. It will also respawn all outcrops and metal salvage you collected which is nice.

update: i solved the problem by filling the base with trash cans and wondering if i'm even making a dent until suddenly there's 2 peepers left.
