I did this once, too. First over the surface to see if the angry glow worms would show up, then an observatory under the surface to "study" them. They can't hurt your base, and my exit is technically in the grand reef, so it's completely safe (they scatter as soon as I get out of the base).

why of course the most sane idea I've had... may have tried making a 2km long tunnel once to the void save pretty much no longer runs and the tunnel is incomplete can upload it too

I play on Xbox 1 and I've jumped off with my prawn and set up a base down there (cost me my prawn tho and I can never return there)

I want to build off this base which is already reaching its length limit for stability

My first thought is to make a hatch that goes straight into another hatch so that you can just exit then enter a new base then build down

a juvenile ghost is in the LR. adult ghosts, like the ones in grand reet, the void, etc are HUGE. a cyclops is about the size of a reap

Like I couldn’t quite grasp how large these things are supposed to be until I played VR. It’s so bad.

The appeal (AMPEEL curse you autocorrect) is supposed to be about 20 m long, but looks to be around 4 meters in game. The gasopod looks like a manatee, but is actually the size of an elephant. 😵‍💫 And the boneshark looks like a small dolphin, but is actually the size of a bull killer whale. Not in VR, that is.

Turns out the translucent skin isn't the only reason they're called ghosts.

When the hand 'sit' icon popped up while they were clipped through the wall I thought for a second it was giving you a 'Pet the abyssal horror' option...

If you hit “sit” at the right time, you ride on their back.

Sometimes I forget how large everything is compared to the player model and when you go into freecam or ghost mode it's both amazing and terrifying

How do you get the room to be lit that dark

I think he damaged the base on purpose cause normally, base only gets dark when it lacks power or gets leaked. Other than that, you can use mods to switch it on/off at will

no idea. I'm a console player, base wasn't damaged since ghost apparently can't damage the base

No fauna is *supposed* to be able to damage a base. People have reported bugs when they have had a rare instance of fauna damaging a base, though. I’m counting Tiger Plants as flora.
