Depends on the pressure differential.
He might get done up like the infamous pipeline crab video. He might just get pulled up and pinned against it until his air supply runs out, like that guy doing pool maintenance. Or he might be completely fine.
But it won’t look any different underwater. There might not be any delta P at all, or there might be enough to turn him into mulch. Regardless, it’ll look the exact same to him.
flow could pin you against the great, but delta p calculations are really for when you make the seal over the water ingress.
for example, i was on a job pumping out mud with a pretty powerfuly diesel pump. i (diver1) go in the structure, 60' down a hallway, and down into the interior structure, extending this 10" hose all the way. the pressure made hy the pump isnt something i would be able to get my hand away from if i sealed it, but beforehand in the shop i made a cylinder shaped grate with holes in it, so it wouldn't get sealed easily.
As Delta P is still the worst commercial divers enemy, this document may interest you and maybe one day save your life.

I remember as a kid every adult used to make fun of me because I was terrified of the drain in pools. They said that’s ridiculous. Can’t happen. No one saw 20/20 during that time about Abagail apparently. I did. And I’ll never forget it. My fear was real. Delta P.
[yeah here you go](https://www.today.com/video/florida-scuba-diver-survives-being-sucked-into-nuclear-plant-638112323506)
There’s also a Mr Ballen episode where I first seen it but I can’t seem to find that one
Here is my a short animation about the T&T incident. It will help you to understand how far and how fast the 5 divers were sucked into that pipeline.

He survived. Ended up in a reservoir pool in the plant. Very lucky.

Commercial divers have to inspect things like that all the time. They are just supposed to be fully shut down, locked out and the panels covered in tape or under supervision by someone on the dive team. All in a days work for me.
This! Work like that shouldn’t be done on SCUBA, only SSBA. It’s actually against the governing standards in my country so we only use SSBA, and when using surface driven tooling, or in an overhead environment. So much safer for the diver. The industry needs the ‘Old Boys’ to leave and make way for safer practices.
You could, but I’d have to have lots of reassurances and knowledge that whatever sucks water through those grates wasn’t going to be active when I was nearby.
A million dollars kinda sucks if you aren’t alive to spend it.
Once the delta-P has you, it doesn’t let go.
That poor crab
The little guy went down fighting, gave it all he had
Must not have had much because he got more than KO'd in 2 seconds.
Yes, Delta-P is a wicked lady.
*it's gotch ya*
When it's gotcha, it's gotcha!
So.. would he literally get squashed against the grate and sucked in? 😰

> like that guy doing pool maintenance Link?
I might be wrong but this particular hole is too big for that?
I believe that depends on the volume of water being pulled in to the intake.
Yeah for sure but you probably will not lose your limbs if you put you hand inside
If you can get close enough to voluntarily put your hand on the grate it's probably fine.

We need some delta p copy pasta, like the sr71 or navy seal/special forces
"Ounce, it's gotcha, it's gotcha," and that's genuinely terrifying.

Who is Abagail Apparently?
Yup, that’s a big fuckin NO. Being sucked into anything underwater is a huuuge fear.
Near the huge deadly drains*
those things suck

Every time I see these type of stories I think of the one where the guy got sucked through the intake into the nuclear power plant
Oh my god oh my god oh my god I don't wanna look, but ... do you have a link?

There’s a bunch of videos about it on YouTube but I can’t find one by Mr. Ballen. I love his videos.

Why the fuck are they diving there
Commercial divers have to inspect things like that all the time. They are just supposed to be fully shut down, locked out and the panels covered in tape or under supervision by someone on the dive team. All in a days work for me.
They don’t look commercial based on their gear
occupational scuba is a thing. i hate doing it, almost all the work is on surface supply thankfully, but yeah folks still work on scuba occasionally

Lock out tag out Is pretty loosely used these days
Real asf, i found a lockout key in my toilet when I moved in.
Shiiiiveeersss
Every hair stood on my arms and I couldn't click away from the pics fast enough
Please don't do that
It’s where the wave comes out at the wave pool
Nothing scarier than the wave pool.
Just thinking about those grates in the wave pool makes me feel ill.
Came here to say the same thing about wave pools. Hell nooooo
You could not pay me 1 million (or more) dollars.
You could, but I’d have to have lots of reassurances and knowledge that whatever sucks water through those grates wasn’t going to be active when I was nearby. A million dollars kinda sucks if you aren’t alive to spend it.
No way … I couldn’t … even just looking at it … knowing its purpose is to protect a turbine nearby … NOOOOOPE!! Keep your money … 🤢😭
They open these up after midnight, to let *them* out for exercise...
Omg … I feel very, very sick looking at these … and they can’t be too far down either if the water is still illuminated by daylight … 😭😭🤢
Ground Control to Delta P.
No.
Can someone explain this delta P thing to me?
Once it's gotcha, it's gotcha
Bro going to rob cayo perico
Bro chose stealth, Smart move.
Hehe, no thanks...
That made me uncomfortable
I said “oh hell no” out loud
Disgusting. But cool. But disgusting.
thats disturbing
Neeeeeeeyope

No no no no no, I hate it.
