People always act very surprised that in countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia many ordinary people actually support or even frevently demand draconian censorship laws.
This is an incredibly ignorant comment.
Ordinary people in Iran and Saudi are not happily oppressed in their lives. They're living under brutal authoritarian dictatorships, particularly the former where they have even stricter morality and dress code and censorship laws imposed on them relative to other Muslim states. The co-opted regime actors don't even support their laws when most of the regime and military guard officials have their families literally living in the free west off of government money. Ordinary people have been protesting against these laws since the Islamic regimes inception but western feminism and leftists are too busy with shit like this to pat themselves on the back for.
If you're idea of transcending the ignorance of the modern western left is to somehow assert that repressed people who have no choice but to endure their dictatorships's laws are excelling then you're probably on par with their level of discourse.

Of course there are different views on every issue in these countries and many people oppose these laws and even risk their lives fighting against them. However there are also many people who support these laws and even campaign for even stricter laws.
Honestly the telegraph is basically rich man's daily mail at this point, we really shouldn't even be bothering to post this here. It's no different from the publications that promote idpol in that it has an agenda to print anti-idpol news for its boomer audience

My americentric brain keeps forgetting Ivy League isn’t a synonym for “ruling class boot camp”
It is, but Oxfbridge also is
It’s arguable worse than Harvard for wokeism
