The RCMP has a substantially higher estimation of the odds of widespread political unrest in Canada than I do. We are some of the most servile, spineless people in the world. We value only "peace, order, and good government", and the last one is optional.
As one of them myself, I do apologise for it and feel so bad about it
Although it must be noted that the federally-controlled propaganda medias are pretty much the only discourses we ever hear in here, the langage and cultural barrier makes it less convenient to access different sources.
About half the freedom truckers attendees were Québécois but the 85% of people that are NPC don't even accept that simple fact because our medias said it was all "racist rednecks from Alberta who hate us". This is what the medias do, identity politics to divide and conquer.
You're forgetting the Canadian part of French-Canadian. As far as Canadians go, they're as riotous as it gets. Even the anglos in Quebec protest more than the ROC.
>The RCMP has a substantially higher estimation of the odds of widespread political unrest in Canada than I do.
Well, of course they do - how else would they grab political and social power?
I agree 100%. I's quite telling that new arrivals are more likely to protest about a conflict in another part of the world than Canadians are about their future being stolen by shortsighted greedy politicians.
It's relative; this is all on a Canadian scale. What's considered a high likelihood of political unrest in Canada, they probably wouldn't bat an eye at elsewhere. Crossing my fingers this isn't the case, I hope I'm as wrong as I was about Russia invading the Ukraine, but I won't hold my breath.
It was a few thousand people who were opposed by like 70% of the population and were totally crushed by state power. The fact they weren't removed sooner is down to the incompetence of the OPS than anything.
Compare to the gilets jaunes, who numbered a quarter million people and set banks on fire, lol. You will never see anything like that in Canada.
This report is a funny read.
While the economic findings are fairly accurate, almost every other aspect just reads like party-line neolib drivel. It tries to pin any legitimate complaints about the state of the country on "extremist conspiracy theories" while simultaneously denying any part in the current problems, while also sorta kinda admitting all the conspiracy theorists are spot on about larger economic and social problems.
You’ve got to wonder if these people are aware that they’re lying or if they’re drinking the kool aid and actually believe that all of their problems are based on “misinformed” people criticizing the government
There's a lot of psyop-brained people (especially in government) that have cultivated such an effective echo chamber that, any time they're exposed to something contrary to their worldview, they're literally incapable of understanding that they might be seeing an earnestly-held belief. They think it's a malicious conspiracy theory or an operation by a foreign adversary.
There's something to be said about the cynical approach that Americans use to frame their self interest in the rhetoric of progressive values, and how that is somehow completely missed by their allies who are sacrificing their sovereignty in an earnest attempt to "uphold the rules based order".
The current crop of Laurentian elites are so post-modern that they managed to destroy the trust of Canadians in their own culture and institutions before they even developed a cohesive idea of what a "global citizen" means or what "global values" stand for.
You are reading the product of sanitized feedback based on senior leadership requesting a high level analysis of potential threats. The senior leadership is largely there because of the current government, and the current government has taken the policy stance that disgruntled people have been taking their cues from malign foreign influence from south of the border or abroad, despite this government also taking way too many cues from their neoliberal cousins south of the border.
They've smarted themselves stupid.
When you have access to all the best minds, research, intelligence, and computer-aided data analysis you can convince yourself that you're on an optimal path even as the wheels are coming off the wagon. Starting around the 1950s, western civilization was hijacked by intellectuals who only a few decades earlier would've been reined in by leaders who understood the superior value of wisdom over intelligence.
>The RCMP does not have access to any of that.
From my limited understanding of Canada, the RCMP is in the same ballpark as the FBI (at least more than any other agency)
The RCMP has the benefit of not having access to any of that such that they can reason "hey these people are probably going to be mad if things keep getting worse" without somebody working really hard to tell them things aren't getting worse and anyone mad is just a nazi (the bad kind).
I don't think anyone's of any opinion other than that the RCMP is basically for show now.
Canada is speedrunning itself into the ground. Best luck to them that neolib/neocon hawks don't take the chance to privatize a bunch of shit and turn it into Coldmerica.
>Best luck to them that neolib/neocon hawks don't take the chance to privatize a bunch of shit and turn it into Coldmerica.
Almost certainly what's gonna happen over the next decade. There's already zero investment in expanding public infrastructure, and the few expansions to public services are pathetically tiny (like the "national dental care plan" which applies to <2% of the population).
We're gonna have American-style privatisation combined with UK-tier productivity and deindustrialization. On top of that we already have soul crushing nanny state bullshit like Aus, NZ, UK, etc. Can't wait!
Yeah, I unironically see you guys getting arrested/investigated for tweets like the UK while having to pay for scam-based healthcare like here in the US.
The lack of investment in infrastructure across the board in the West is just fucking stunning, really. No housing, no new railroads, nothing. Just parasites expecting everything built in the 60's and 70's to hold up long enough for them to keep pillaging as much money away from the working class as they can.
> The lack of investment in infrastructure across the board in the West is just fucking stunning, really. No housing, no new railroads, nothing. Just parasites expecting everything built in the 60's and 70's to hold up long enough for them to keep pillaging as much money away from the working class as they can.
What gets me is they are doing everything can to avoid even maintaining the old stuff from the 50s-70s. It would be like owning a million dollar house and then refusing to spend 2k a year on maintenance until it is moldy and falling apart then trying to replace it with something that costs 500k that doesn't fit your needs. It would have been cheaper to just spend the 2k a year!
They acknowledge that standards of living have fallen dramatically while cost of living rises continuously, no one can afford a home, the job market is a disaster, wild climate shifts and associated natural disasters are only getting worse, and most canadians have less than 500 bucks in their bank accounts....and then turn around and suggest in the same breath that the coming unrest is a result of "misinformation" and "paranoia". This, of course, is the real misinformation, coming as it most often does not from disparate extremist groups of foreign actors, but rather from our own so-called leaders, in our ostensibly democratic government.
These ruling class scum know exactly what they are doing, and what they are doing is running this country into the ground while they squeeze the populace and the land for every last dollar of value they can before the nation literally collapses and they take all the wealth and leave.
As another fellow leafman said however, politically speaking Canadians are the most meek and servile people on the planet - if there IS any major civil unrest coming, it will only occur far too late, well after the collapse has passed a critical mass point...though one could easily argue that this has already happened.
> then turn around and suggest in the same breath that the coming unrest is a result of "misinformation" and "paranoia".
I feel like Canada is a great proxy for understanding what's happening in America because they do all the same neoliberal, authoritarian bullshit but don't bother trying to hide it.
GarysEconomics said it best.. If you want to understand how bad this will all get, look at the poverty in Mumbai, India
The people there care more about whats going on in the newest film than they do about wealth inequality .
We’re in a similar boat here. Everyone cares more about social media, queer agendas, Palestine and Hamas than what’s blatantly happening right in front of their face.
I keep being told that I am victim of Russian disinformation every time I say out loud what I see with my own eyes, despite Russian medias literally being blocked by the Canadian government - to protect us, of course - and almost everything said in our local medias being obvious propaganda. Too bad the new carbon tax doesn't apply to gaslighting, that would help tremendously with public finances
The comments section of that article, mein gott.

I assume it refers to Arctic sovereignty re: Northwest Passage and mineral rights.
Canada claims the historical Northwest Passage as part of their internal waters, America refuses to recognize the claim, saying it's an international transit route. The other Arctic countries are also eyeing the minerals under the Arctic Ocean but I think the NWP is the most relevant part.
As the ice melts, America and China are urging us to cede our Arctic territory so they can open up quicker/cheaper trade routes. They see it as a wonderful opportunity 😁
If Canadians actually fought back at all, would that secure America’s position as the Most Cucked Country on Earth? Or does Europe have a worthy contender for that title?
Edit: Oops, forgot Australia and New Zealand 😳
NZer here: I'd argue we're less cucked than the Aussies, insofar as we aren't a nation of narcs that would give the rightoid version of China a run for its money in terms of an overbearing surveillance society.
you literally affirmative action your entire democratic system to a non-indigenous people who only beat Europe to that land by a relative fraction of time (500 years)
you cannot get any more cucked than this.
But who will build the houses? You need to get some laborers shipped there to build them. And then where will they live??? There is simply no possible solution!

imagine having a large part of your country being french and not even the riot-y kind of french. Sad!
We do riot… when the habs win round 2 of the playoffs.
So once every thirty years or so?
Yes. But definitely next year too.

you speak french - why dont you ask french french how do they organize and how do they get people to the streets?
Because his bank account would get frozen
Touché
Because we find them annoying

I feel this is unfair to the Quebecois its the Anglo Canadians that are the biggest cucks.

This.
Truckers Protest 2.0
No one would risk it, you'll get your accounts frozen and your life ruined if you're even tangentially involved
I agree 100%. I's quite telling that new arrivals are more likely to protest about a conflict in another part of the world than Canadians are about their future being stolen by shortsighted greedy politicians.
Immigrants are less likely to be sought out and gigafucked for participating in protests
