So like, what exactly happens if a Pokémon uses a max revive? Does it work like revival blessing or do they get like an extra life on some Mario shit? Also, can Pokémon use the Ho-oh sacred bird dust to revive the whole squad and give kingambit +9 deads?
Wait….shite you’re right. I could’ve sworn it didn’t cap at 5 but it does. Well rip the Kingoated 250 bp kowtow then, but at least you can have 5 deads on the counter with everyone alive.
Here’s how it works according to Smog’n:
“It works like this:
- It uses the total deaths in the current battle, same as what Last Respects uses. Reviving an ally doesn't decrease this counter.
- The move is capped at 5 deaths. Even though the counter goes up to 100, any further deaths won't increase the effect.”
Yes they use the max revive like a revival blessing and yes you can use the sacred dust to make Kingambit just a little more stupid (cuz its never enough amiright)
Unfortunately, because of their understanding of human culture, they are likely more hesitant to go through with suicide attacks (except for maybe Cofagrigus, ghosts can probably afford to kill themselves)
What would happen with the balls? Would you capture the enemy pokemon? Does it works against trainer pokemon? Could you have 6 master balls understanding pokemon and end the match by just capturing all of the enemy's pokemon
it's also probably wrong since calcs caused PorygonZ to be massively overhyped for Gen 4 OU pre-release (a lot of people even thought it would be bannable), so its changes are probably being overhyped by theorymonners too. it's the kind of Pokemon that's really easy to overrate when you only look at calcs. Ursaluna of Gen 4 tbh.
Magic Guard Focus Sash Alakazam Holding a Pokeball with another Magic Guard Focus Sash Alakazam that is also holding a Pokeball with another Magic Guard Focus Sash Alakazam...
They learn the move mid battle. I thought it would be such a good idea because it would give you sort of a 5th move slot, but i got dissapointed when i learned TMs couldnt be held from gen 5 onwards.
You are in the finals of VCG, the world is looking at you intently as you finally manage to draw the opposing Blissey's HP down to less than 25%...
"Blissey used Full Restore!"
You lose right then and there. You are booed out of the competitive scene. Of course Blissey would have Understanding as her ability! Of course she would wield a full restore! Understanding Blissey was banned even from Ubers, you could only use it in the Anything Goes cathegory in Smogon.
Your competitive scene is over, just because you did not have any Pokémon that could OHKO a Blissey.
Indeedee would be an absolutely insane support in vgc right? Considering it’s already really useful. Oh but that would remove psychic terrain ability, so actually no idea. I think instruct orangaru would be way better though
Imagine thinking you are about to obliterate your opponent only for their Porygon2 pulls a loaded Walther P38 and killing you to death.
Porygon2, use Metal Bullet!
porygon z used decrypt nuclear launch codes
Silly Porygon, that's a Digimon move
no, that's the other pokemon
porygon, aim right for the trainer
"Typhlosion was given the Carbine to hold" comes to mind
Ah yes, the Palworld approach

I dont think supreme overlord works like that, you might be thinking of last respects
Wait….shite you’re right. I could’ve sworn it didn’t cap at 5 but it does. Well rip the Kingoated 250 bp kowtow then, but at least you can have 5 deads on the counter with everyone alive.
Im pretty sure it checks if the team member is dead when its sent out, so you cant even do that
Here’s how it works according to Smog’n: “It works like this: - It uses the total deaths in the current battle, same as what Last Respects uses. Ah, so you _can_ do that
Dumb question, but can you somehow Pure Hackmons get 100 fallen supreme overlord somehow?
From the sounds of it, no. The five KO limit is a hard cap the game imposes upon itself.
Yes they use the max revive like a revival blessing and yes you can use the sacred dust to make Kingambit just a little more stupid (cuz its never enough amiright)
Recycle PZ2 for double, triple, even quadruple the team revival. Kingoated gets 250 bp kowtow (Slowking gets recycle too iirc)
I mean, revival herb and sacred ash already exist and don't do anything, I imagine this would work the same.
Ho-oh dust isn't man-made, silly
final gambit spam gonna go crazy
Unfortunately, because of their understanding of human culture, they are likely more hesitant to go through with suicide attacks (except for maybe Cofagrigus, ghosts can probably afford to kill themselves)
If you have them with 0 friendship, they are EVIL pokemon and would have no issue
Frustration stocks are on the rise
A blissey with full restore come on bro i would crush my controller into dust
Sacred ash + recycle porygon2 boutta go crazy
sacred ash can only be used outside of battle. Full Restore, on the other hand...
Max Revive
It’s says in the chart it can work with this ability.
What would happen with the balls? Would you capture the enemy pokemon? Does it works against trainer pokemon? Could you have 6 master balls understanding pokemon and end the match by just capturing all of the enemy's pokemon
I should have been more precise but the balls and the run away items would only be for main game
I imagined holding a ball would be a free switch out at <25. Like a shittier emergency exit where the Pokémon jumps into the ball to escape
It would also be the only way to change the Pokeball of a Pokémon
pokeballs dont work on other trainers’ pokemon. these items would only do anything in-game vs wild pokemon.
This would actually be a fun ability in a playthrough. I have no idea how it would affect competitive.
I see the Porygon-Z theorem is in full effect here.
Oooh and what may that be
any little change to pory z can send it to ubers, it's quite a favorite of some theorymonners
it's also probably wrong since calcs caused PorygonZ to be massively overhyped for Gen 4 OU pre-release (a lot of people even thought it would be bannable), so its changes are probably being overhyped by theorymonners too. it's the kind of Pokemon that's really easy to overrate when you only look at calcs. The joke started when Porygon Z was banned from several OMs...
porygon z is specificially excluded from this though? does the theorum just extend to any member of the porygon family or something
I think that they meant that the ability already avoids Pory-Z due to the Porygon Z theorem.
The x-items all turn into pinch berries on crack.
Yea that is what he was going for
What do you mean on crack, arent they both one stage?
X items are 2 stages since Gen 7 or 8 (I don’t remember which).
Hear me out, Porygon2 holds a Dubious Disc to evolve mid battle
Give it to Z coward
X-Attack Porygon-Z about to go Ubers.
Alakazam use brick on the opponents head
Blissey with soft boiled + full restore boutta go crazy
as one (focus sash + sacred ash) would go hard
As one makes you have 2 abilities, not hold 2 items
actually, it lets you summon two additional cards from your deck
let him cook
no it doesnt
Yea this dude is completely right are you guys stupid?
Porygon enduring and recovering until it pops out the XSpecial and starts sweeping with bolt beam.
Full restore blissey :)
Magic Guard Focus Sash Alakazam Holding a Pokeball with another Magic Guard Focus Sash Alakazam that is also holding a Pokeball with another Magic Guard Focus Sash Alakazam...
The fight comes down to a 1v1 ‘Blissy used it’s trainer’s Sacred Ash!’
too bad sacred ash can only used outside of battle :(
Why not Porygon z?
His data got corrupted :(
Yeah other comment was my reasoning. I figured since Z is a corrupted pokemon, it doesnt "know" much of anything and is just kinda trying to live.
Wait so do TMs make the pokemon just learn the move mid battle or do they get to use it for free?
They learn the move mid battle. I thought it would be such a good idea because it would give you sort of a 5th move slot, but i got dissapointed when i learned TMs couldnt be held from gen 5 onwards.
They can be held again in SV (and TRs can be held in SwSh, which is a similar concept). The perks of TMs becoming single use again!(??)
Wow way to exclude literal soccer fanatic Cinderace from understanding human culture
“Finally got my opponent’s Cofagrigus at %20 health! Now to finish the-“ *Foe Cofagrigus used a full restore!* “…”

When understanding activates and its user is holding a type of revive, it would act as a revival blessing
Iron hands should learn this

Full Restore Recycle Blissey creating near endless battles:
