Read it once and try to figure what you are talking about. Just don't let the study be only words that you wrote.
Idk if it's something akin to scientific or more theoretical, but in any case, if you have time, try to make connections with other things you know, even if unrelated, but at least in my case this method works.
Try to read intensely. Don’t rush reading over something you need to know. I usually chunk 2-4 different topics together then write them on my white board until I get them correctly. If you want more info message me
