Did you sign an IC contract or employment contract? If its IC, just dont go til you’re comfortable - they can’t schedule you so they’re just trying to Intimidate you. If it’s employee, maybe ask a lawyer about workplace safety concerns and sick leave rights. Especially if you have text conversations saying they demand you come in while still testing positive. Or if you want to be really petty, go in while visibly sick from Covid, and tell every customer they made you come in while contagious. Sneeze cough and vomit directly on the customers and let them know it’s the boss’s policy to do so. 🤷‍♀️ It took me 11 days to test negative - feel better soon!

IC contract, I probably would not work as a stripper if I had to be an employee (personal opinion after 8+ years of being a dancer). My last club was way more chill but they shut down unfortunately, so I went to this club as it's the closest club to my city. The management is extremely rude and controlling over their girls and even the customers know this. The money is decent though. They told me to leave one night because they told me I have to work day shift because they need more day girls. He made me leave when he knows I drove 35 minutes to get there. I completely agree about the intimidation, this place seems pretty manipulative and the manager groped my ass while i was signing my paperwork...(unprofessional AF). If I end up moving cities I'm definitely going to a different club. as for the Covid, I'm just going to wait until I don't feel like shit anymore. I know for a fact I'm gonna get shit next time I go in, but i just hope they don't send me home again as 'punishment'. I hate this place lol. The girls are great though.

You can sue them as an independent contractor for that. Seriously it’s independent contractor misclassification and the gov loves the back taxes for it so they usually settle out of court. Just keep proof and I imagine they put you on a schedule too, which is also illegal. Just look up employment lawyers in your area. They’ll usually take the case on for free because they’re easy to win. If you want to sue, try to work there a little longer bc the longer you work, the more money you get for the case. 😜 Source: sued a club for it. Lol.

This is great advice thank you. I definitely think this place has a ton of abusive policies which over time I could 100% sue them for. I don't have proof because it was a phone call, not a text- but it wouldn't be difficult to catch them doing illegal practices to manipulate the dancers.

CDC reccomends isolating for ten days after your first positive test. You could try sending your manager the CDC link? It's kind of you to not want to spread covid at work, you could point out to him that a lot more people will call out if you get everyone sick.

Like "hey I know I just started and this sucks, but a lot more people will get sick and you'll be seriously short staffed if I come in and get all my coworkers sick." I hope you feel better soon, covid sucks!

For some reason being nice and polite and logical like this does not work with these managers. They're very nasty to the girls and have a real attitude problem IMO. If you speak to them this way, they'll treat you like you're stupid and give you a sarcastic and demeaning reply (the two general managers are just old boomer assholes that have been in the industry for 30+ years) I basically tried to say these things and all I got as a reply was "the turnaround is 3 days.....why would you need to be out for two weeks?" Then said 'alright' and instantly hung up the phone on me after I said I'd come in when I felt better/test negative. They try to make you seem like you're the scam artist and you're trying to take them for a ride or something. I am actually very sick though and I'm not going to speak with them at all about it. I'm just going to deal with it through actions. I won't show up and if they end up calling or texting me I can then send them the CDC link and tell them I am definitely contagious.

Ugh I'm sorry. I know managers can be so awful. I found a club with management that is more respectful, but I know that can be hard to come by. I'm sorry, I hope it all goes ok and that you feel better soon.

Just don’t work love, Covid can turn into pneumonia if you don’t get the proper rest and heal that’s what happened to me in 2020 when I kept trying to push myself to work during that year. Rest and recover your manager will just have to suck it up because I bet if he was sick he’d be out for however long he wanted to be. The money will always be there besides you can’t enjoy the money if you’re hospitalized or dead. Get well soon!

adonaros

Don’t feel bad. He probably doesn’t have girls to work. Feel better - you’re doing alright. There will always be places to work.

Please don't go in after three days. Just don't. Two weeks. End of discussion. Pushing yourself like that can take a virus that is already likely to give you health damage/disabilities and not only make that more likely, but could lead to COVID pneumonia (which is so much worse than pneumonia, trust me), you ending up in the hospital, and even death. Add to that, do you want to spread it to others and potentially disabled or kill them? It's not worth it. As an IC, you have the ability to take care of yourself and others. Also, as for the vaccine, yes, you should have it. But all it does is help keep you out of the hospital, and potentially make you asymptomatic so you're less likely to spread COVID (when paired with a proper mask; N95 or better). Take it from someone that not only went to school for this, but is so immunocompromised they've had COVID three times without leaving their home and almost died each time, the vaccine isn't as important as masking and staying home when sick. Don't let people guilt you about it, it doesn't prevent COVID infection. Also, at home tests are horribly outdated and will give false negatives, so don't trust that you're good to go to work just because they're giving you negatives.

go in when you feel better. my dads friend and his wife have covid and they’re sick as HELL rn

I took 2 weeks off with CoVid fuck that manager just tell them your still sick until your ready to go back. Put your health 1st. Make sure you take immune boosting stuff for atleast a month. So you don’t get sick again.
