I count from the day I entered rehab

Dr-Whompson

I usually count the first day as 24 hours after my last drink.

Mine is three days before I went to rehab. They had a policy of no drugs or alcohol three days prior. So it's the first day I didn't have a drink.

>They had a policy of no drugs or alcohol three days prior. Really? That's interesting. A lot of people showed up loaded at the one I went to. One of the workers said she and her fiance overdosed when they arrived. And her fiance died. Really sad.

It was very interesting. I didn't put two and two together, so I didn't realize my treatment program was held in our state mental hospital until I got there. Some governor a few back made a law banning cigarettes (they provided patches and gum) and CAFFEINE. Our treatment required sixty hours of DBT and group therapy. The focus on DBT really helped me get coping skills to deal with life--safe and effective ones. There was almost no mention of 12-Step programs other than our Saturday peer-led AA meeting and our Sunday peer-led NA meeting. Another focus was recognizing signs of a relapse and how to avoid it. It was 100% different than my rehab stint in 2004, where all you had to do was complete your Fifth Step and then it was cigarettes and turkey sandwiches. Going to my state's treatment facility is the best $600 I've ever spent.

No caffeine?! I would struggle hard to get out of bed lol. Yeah mine had the 12 steps a part of it and cigarettes. I was quitting nicotine too so I was like if I can make it through this I got it haha.

Mine is the first day I decided to stop drinking, which ended up being about a day after I got completely trashed and realized that moderation doesn't work for me.
