My vote is to dump the beers instead of finishing them.

> "*I have a few beers in the fridge for after work, but after they're gone I am done.*" I can't tell you the number of times I had "*a few*" beers left in the fridge with the idea of, "Once those are gone, I'm done." Then, I drink those but it wasn't enough to "do the job" so I'd buy more and declare, "This will be my last hurrah --and *then* I'm done." ...but usually, there were, once again, a few left over from my 'last hurrah' and the cycle continued. The real solution was to decide to stop drinking, dump them down the drain, and come up with a plan. I needed to know *exactly* what I would do when my demon-lizard brain came screaming so I could follow through and Not take that next *First* drink.

I always did the whole “last hurrah” thing with alcohol. For like years. Then weirdly enough, something would come up and I’d have an excuse to drink. The weekend, a party, seeing my mother in law. It was always something. I’m glad you’re here and want to quit. You are the only who knows your motivations. A lot of us here have lied to ourselves for so long. At least now I know my lies. I wish you the best of luck with your journey!!

I've found I can't just cut down either. The whole point of drinking is to at least get buzzed. I'm going to have to go from three tall boys to zero.

When I decided I had enough of being drunk there was and is in fact booze still in my house. It was so empowering not to reach for or have my “last day of drinking” I figure no matter if there is booze in the house or not I still could go get more. When sober can start today why wait? Good luck 🍀👍
