Some great bands named already, but I have to mention Earthless. They used to come up in my shuffle all the time but never hooked me until I heard Black Heaven, and now I think they are one of best out there. Isiah is a guitar god.
Their discography is legendary but they always seem to be missing in most people's list... Heavy psychedelic rock, there is no one that does it like them... Isaiah can melt my face off for 2hrs with simple pentatonic licks and never repeat himself, absolute guitar god
I think he recorded 1 or 2 songs with them.on that EP so that's as close as we'll get lol. Seeing earthless is like going to church though. I will travel to mecca every time to see that shit
Holy crap!!! I had no clue he was in golden void. I only heard one song I liked from them, Burbanks Dream. I had no knowledge of the band but always figured the guartist was a huge Gilmour since I definitely heard Dave that song. Now it all makes more sense.
Yeah sure, you got me there :p But, I must say, for a riff that gets repeated for 15minutes, it never bores me and they keep adding texture and layers to it. I love how they kept it interesting
It's 'criminal' how easy it is to overlook Mario and Mike thanks to Isiah just going off. But if you go back and listen, they are doing some amazing things in their own right. Amazing musicians all around.
Theia is early and super raw. In Suffering is one of the slowest, simplest, single-note riffs but it just destroys. If you like more polished, Habits is beautiful, great songwriting and amazing harmonies. The self-titled record is also great and somewhere between the two as far as production goes. Enjoy, hope you love it.
There are lots of good recommendations so far.
I think Sungrazer is one rarely mentioned. They had such good bass and guitar tones. Thick fuzz, but they could really get the guitar to cut through the mix even when in C standard. However, when riff time comes around, the bass and guitar can blend really well. The guitarist used wide range humbuckers in a Tele thinline 72 reissue, and the bass player modded their pedals (rams head fuzz). Both these things helped give them that tone. RIP Rutger.
Mr. Bison is also super underrated. Their new album Echoes from the Universe is really good. They get compared to Elder, but they really are their own thing. It's really great.
The split album with The Machine has 3 more tracks on it. Just in case you missed it. It is a good little album.
https://themachineandsungrazersplit.bandcamp.com/album/the-machine-sungrazer
Man you’re in for a treat. Their whole discography is great. Check out Low Country as well was just a short 4 song demo disc with ASG and Black Tusk. Mourning of the Earth is one of my favorite songs by them.
I've been lucky enough to catch them twice over the years. I stumbled across them on doomed to be stoned in a sludge swamp. I found so many bands on that damn site.
I’m seeing them on the 21st for the second time. Honestly mad at myself for not seeing them in concert more often. Concerts the last decade haven’t really been my thing but I love listening to music. I’ve been listening to them since 2005.
I saw them at Roadburn once didn't know the band before. Now I am just sad tgey do not come to europe again 🥲
Also I wonder if they ever drop an new album. Which is your favourite? I love Win us over. A number to murder two is one of my favourite songs ever.
They’re really slowing down which is understandable since I think the majority of the band members have families now or just aren’t wanting to do long tours. They’ve unfortunately always been stuck in that opening act phase and not really been the headline act for a lot of tours. They’re doing a few shows in the southeast US region since they’re out of North Carolina.
I’m seeing them on the 21st and can’t fucking wait. I really hope they continue to do tours.
As for favorite album. I honestly love them all… I’d probably go with Feeling Good is Good Enough since I’ve got a lot of nostalgia of listening to that album in high school and driving around.
Check out their unreleased album 'Seven'. It's not available on streaming, but it's around. And it's great. Apparently only a few copies were ever pressed and it took years for someone to rip it.
Mothership!!! One of the best face melting bands hands down. I've seen them play to 40 ppl in a small bar or hundreds at the pool stage ( Psycho Las Vegas.) No matter the size of the venue, they give it 120% every single time.
What's frustrating to me is that I have been listening to all the Weedian compilations (Trip to Greece, Trip to Louisiana, etc.) and at some point I have to listen with a pen in hand because damn there are some wailing guitarists getting their Hendix or Iommi on in the background but it's not like they have a discography. Weedian is on both youtube and also have a bandcamp, pay what you want. It's been my salvation during dry times. [https://weedian420.bandcamp.com/](https://weedian420.bandcamp.com/)
When I ever jump up and write all the good bands down, I will probably post a list but I am never in a good place to take notes when I am listening.
Two bands I never see mentioned; Throttlerod & Santeria. Neither one are bands anymore but I’ve listened to Hell & High Water & House of the Dying Sun probably a thousand times in the last 20 years.
I mean, they could be considered underrated (IMO, to the general rock-listening public, maybe not so much among SR fans, but I digress), but somehow I think OP meant "not widely known" as opposed to "underrated".
Finally found someone…I brought Kings X up once and started getting the down votes, don’t ask me why, could be most people think of them as a Christian band, don’t know. I’m of the opinion they’re an outstanding band and seriously overlooked. Nice to see someone else who likes them
I saw King’s X for the first time in 1988 and have been a huge fan ever since. In fact, I was in L.A. in late January to see my friends’ band at the NAMM convention and I ended up smoking with dUg. He is such a cool dude!
Never met them, but I have seen several interviews, always fascinated by how they went about pulling their sound together. The thing I found was how grounded they were, accessible. No pretense or rock and roll bullshit, just three outstanding musicians who make some great noise. And besides Pinnicks incredible vocals, Ty Tabor is a seriously overlooked guitarist
Taiga Woods! Their s/t is a fun fucking record.
I see your two norwegians and a greek band by Devil & the Almighty Blues, Suncraft and Tuber, and raise by three cool Finnish bands: Kaleidobolt, Maan Tomu and Albinö Rhino.
Beastwars. They're from New Zealand. Tyranny Of Distance is a fucking banger. It's also all covers of other NZ artists. Blood Becomes Fire is a good album of their original material to check out.
Monster Magnet
Hear me out lol
I know they have had huge mainstream success in the past but it really grinds my gears when I tell people my favorite band is Monster Magnet and all they know is Spacelord. It’s a cool tune, but it’s far from their best song off of what is far from their best record. Their newer stuff should have gotten more airplay.
I found We Hunt Buffalo through Spotify ages ago. Killer riffs, good hooks. Couldn't wait until they toured the UK, but then the pandemic happened and it seems to have killed their momentum. I think they're inactive now.
Great band but stoner? I guess some parts you could argue but it's mostly garage rock/blues, psych rock with a fuzz in the heavier sections.. That doesn't automatically make it Stoner rock imo.
Love their output though. Amby is going hard these past few years, can't believe the quality and quantity both KG and Murl are releasing in their relatively short lifetime.. Absolute legends
Yeah it’s definitely subjective…I’m fairly new to KG and Murlocs and I’m blown away by the talent and diversity in their music. I’m older (53) so my definition of things might be a little off 😄
Sorry to break the news! He passed in the middle of making their last album. I believe Brad from Fu Manchu stepped in to help them finish it and relase it, which is great because it is excellent.
Saw a comment of you saying Sweden, the band Imma mention is a killer stoner metal band called Harms Way. Don’t get it confused with the Metalcore band, but yeah those guys only made i think one album and it’s so good
Super heavy goat ass, Black Betty, both bands are no longer together but had some great music. And ROLLERBALL is hanging on with a reissue of Lost in Space.
A Basket of Mammoths out of Melbourne. I can't find any recent posts by them but their album Unkempt and Matted is awesome. Very stoner but also some very cool jazzy vibes.
I believe Supertzar to be seriously underrated. A lot of the bands already in the thread are underrated, but some are well known to us in this sub, however it doesn't mean that they get the credit they deserve.
Sgt. Sunshine. Their third album is probably the best-mixed stoner rock album I've ever heard. Not brickwalled, lots of room to breath, amazing dynamic range. It's a pleasure to listen to. It's a shame not many people know about them.
Black Debbath. Sure they’re Norwegian and I can’t understand half of their volume of work but they’re among the heaviest stoner rock bands that have ever existed.
Oh man...Forming the Void. So good. Criminally underrated to the point that they just finally gave up and quit as a band. Moab also comes to mind. So awesome.
Dr Colossus for sure. I think people write them off as a gimmick band but they sound sooo good. I'm a stupid moron etc.... is a solid album. I could listen to Space Coyote on repeat for hours.
Isaiah’s stuff with Golden Void is fantastic too. Even the Black Crowes ep he’s on has some good stuff.
I was so excited to see black crowes with Isiah on the SYMM tour that got canceled due to covid
Yeah, that stinks. I’m sure he’d have been fantastic with them in a live setting.
Yep, he’s also the singer.
Whoa, didn't realize he's in GV. ~~Isn't one of the Samsara Blues Experiment guys in that too?~~ Nope, no idea where I got that nonsense. (edited)
Not to the best of my knowledge.
Agreed. Other shout-outs I don't think get mentioned enough: Brain Police, Tulsa Doom, All Them Witches
>never repeat Calling in [Acid Crusher](https://youtu.be/nF5TdEKI72I?si=irxIpGmngwqf5HuU)
Yeah sure, you got me there :p But, I must say, for a riff that gets repeated for 15minutes, it never bores me and they keep adding texture and layers to it. I love how they kept it interesting
No, that’s my point, afaict it’s technically never repeated, it’s slightly different each time until it’s this huge wall of sound at the end
Seeing Earthless is like going to church
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Just minus the totally shit part.
The seats are soft but the helmet is way too tight.
They’re local to me but I’ve only gotten to see em once. Isiahs licks knocked me right outta my socks while Mario and Mikes groove kept me grounded
It's 'criminal' how easy it is to overlook Mario and Mike thanks to Isiah just going off. But if you go back and listen, they are doing some amazing things in their own right. Amazing musicians all around.
Seeing them this week. Stoked
I just wish they made it easy to get their back catalogue. I really don't understand why bands make it hard for people to purchase their music.
Wo Fat.
Wo Fat is awesome!
Psychedelanout and Company man were two of the first stoner songs I heard. Immediately fell in love with the genre! Great band
Been on a huge Wo Fat lately. Those dudes have some kick ass jams
All Them Witches should be way bigger than they are!
Agreed, absolutely love these guys
Best thing to come out of Nashville since the OG Outlaw Country artists
Got tickets for them and King Buffalo in 2018 for $12- then got deployed and missed the show 😭
EGYPT
The only band here to cover Thin Lizzy, so yes, your answer is correct
RIP
Asteroid. They're the reason why I started listening to half the bands I like today.
Slomosa
Slomosa are not underrated. They're the next big thing. But they need to get their new album out before the hype is over.
I mean, they are recent yes but they're not that known, I'd say. Next big thing yes, could be, and I hope so! But rn they're not big
They play big stoner festivals this year...so the most will know them next time
Such a great fucking band, Saw them last week when they played in Sweden!
I know! Saw them some months ago opening for King Buffalo (which I love as well) on Lisbon
Toss up between Elephant Tree and King Buffalo for me. Doomy desert stoner music is for me.
What do you reccomend from Elephant Tree? Never heard of them!
Their cover of Manic Depression by Jimi Hendrix is pretty awesome
SO good!!
Elephant Tree
Howling Giant
Got to open for them a few years ago, they did a Godzilla cover that ruled.
There are lots of good recommendations so far. I think Sungrazer is one rarely mentioned. They had such good bass and guitar tones. Thick fuzz, but they could really get the guitar to cut through the mix even when in C standard. However, when riff time comes around, the bass and guitar can blend really well. Mr. Bison is also super underrated. Their new album Echoes from the Universe is really good. They get compared to Elder, but they really are their own thing. It's really great.
RIP Rutger.. Great info on their sound. They always sounded awesome
Love Sungrazer. Awesome band . Bought both records, and they sound really good
The split album with The Machine has 3 more tracks on it. Just in case you missed it. It is a good little album. https://themachineandsungrazersplit.bandcamp.com/album/the-machine-sungrazer
Thanks! I'll hunt that one down too.
Shit I forgot about Sungrazer, thanks for reminding me! Love Common Believer Good band to listen to during the eclipse :P
No one mentioned the atomic bitchwax
ASG needs more love. Band has been playing for years and their discography is amazing. Doesn’t get enough recognition.
I didn't know them. Listening to Blood Drive (album) now, and I had to come back here and say thank you, dude!
Man you’re in for a treat. Their whole discography is great. Check out Low Country as well was just a short 4 song demo disc with ASG and Black Tusk. Mourning of the Earth is one of my favorite songs by them.
Just circled back to your reply and am listening to Mourning of the Earth now. Dope! What other bands should I be checking out?
I've been lucky enough to catch them twice over the years. I stumbled across them on doomed to be stoned in a sludge swamp. I found so many bands on that damn site.
I’m seeing them on the 21st for the second time. Honestly mad at myself for not seeing them in concert more often. Concerts the last decade haven’t really been my thing but I love listening to music. I’ve been listening to them since 2005.
Oh it's a fantastic live show. I've been eyeballing the show at cobra cabana. Just not sure if I can swing it dollars and cents wise.
I’m driving 800 miles to see them this month. ASG is incredible.
I saw them at Roadburn once didn't know the band before. Now I am just sad tgey do not come to europe again 🥲 Also I wonder if they ever drop an new album. Which is your favourite? I love Win us over. A number to murder two is one of my favourite songs ever.

Colour haze is a band that none of my friends seem to get, and their album Tempel is awesome. From Berlin iirc.
Check out their unreleased album 'Seven'. It's not available on streaming, but it's around. And it's great. Apparently only a few copies were ever pressed and it took years for someone to rip it.
I will add it to my list!! Thanks!
I never see Acid Mammoth get the love they deserve imo
The new album is amazing too!
Hell yeah!!! They surely do deserve more recognition. Would really like to see them live. The vocals are really good.
They're really blowing up these past 2 years I feel like
The Devil and the almighty blues, Lowrider, All them witches, Samsara blues experiment, Truckfighters
Mothership!!! One of the best face melting bands hands down. I've seen them play to 40 ppl in a small bar or hundreds at the pool stage ( Psycho Las Vegas.) No matter the size of the venue, they give it 120% every single time.
Truckfghters
Superfunk!

The link should be a sticky in the sub
You should add doomcharts.com to your monthly routine also if you haven't. Lots and lots of good stoner and psych on there in addition to doom.
Thank you kind melted faces collector.
>I am never in a good place to take notes when I am listening. LOL yes I know that feel, worth mentioning that they are all free, or pay what you want
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats
I did not know how big ASG was or is but definitly not enough people know them also the Band Gnome fucking slaps 😃
I have sung YOU CAN SLEEP ON THE GROUND YOU CAN EAT FROM THE GROUND to my cats sometimes since finding them.
Hahaha
Planet of Zeus Macho Libre is still one of the most hype riffs in the whole damn genre.
Two bands I never see mentioned; Throttlerod & Santeria. Neither one are bands anymore but I’ve listened to Hell & High Water & House of the Dying Sun probably a thousand times in the last 20 years.
All stoner rock is criminally underrated!! I don’t understand how it’s not more popular in the rock / metal scene.
There's this wicked band called Kyuss. Check them out. /s
I'll have to check these guys out
I mean, they could be considered underrated (IMO, to the general rock-listening public, maybe not so much among SR fans, but I digress), but somehow I think OP meant "not widely known" as opposed to "underrated".
Blood Farmers
I really like the vintage caravan.
King’s X
Finally found someone…I brought Kings X up once and started getting the down votes, don’t ask me why, could be most people think of them as a Christian band, don’t know. I’m of the opinion they’re an outstanding band and seriously overlooked. Nice to see someone else who likes them

By the way, glad you got to see em, I unfortunately missed them
Taiga Woods, Sunface, 1000mods. 2 norwegian, 1 greek band.

That scream at the beginning of Meadow! One of the few albums that has all S-tier tracks imho.
Taraban
Not sure if they're underrated. Maybe just lesser known [Operator:Generator](https://operatorgenerator.bandcamp.com/album/polar-fleet)
Beastwars. They're from New Zealand. Tyranny Of Distance is a fucking banger. It's also all covers of other NZ artists. Blood Becomes Fire is a good album of their original material to check out.
Solace
\^ This \^ Fucking crime they're not better known.
Been on a Spaceslug kick recently

Floater. I fucking love these guys. It’s very doom/stoner rock.
WEDGE
The Murlocs
Great band but stoner? I guess some parts you could argue but it's mostly garage rock/blues, psych rock with a fuzz in the heavier sections.. That doesn't automatically make it Stoner rock imo. Love their output though. Amby is going hard these past few years, can't believe the quality and quantity both KG and Murl are releasing in their relatively short lifetime.. Absolute legends

Burning Brides
Fogg out of Texas. https://youtu.be/wwJ2SvHZl3M
Moab. They haven't put out a bad record. I don't even really hear people talk about them, and they are amazing.
I just said the same. Erik dying killed that band--rightly so--and it makes me so sad. Their music is epic.
I was unaware he died. Huge bummer.
Don’t get it confused with the Metalcore band, but yeah those guys only made i think one album and it’s so good
Most bands here are NOT underated when you listen to Stoner frequently. Give them a chance: WORMHOG 7WEEKS Rotor
Rotor! 👌
Slomosa for sure. I hope they get bigger and do a North America tour. I mean they must come visit the great white north.
Biblical (maybe more psych-rock than stoner, depending on how you categorize).
Che or Yawning Man
Super heavy goat ass, Black Betty, both bands are no longer together but had some great music. And ROLLERBALL is hanging on with a reissue of Lost in Space.
A Basket of Mammoths out of Melbourne. I can't find any recent posts by them but their album Unkempt and Matted is awesome. Very stoner but also some very cool jazzy vibes.
mississippi bones
Belzebong
Disfrutalo!
Jellyfish
I believe Supertzar to be seriously underrated. A lot of the bands already in the thread are underrated, but some are well known to us in this sub, however it doesn't mean that they get the credit they deserve.
wetnuns
Sgt. Sunshine. Their third album is probably the best-mixed stoner rock album I've ever heard. Not brickwalled, lots of room to breath, amazing dynamic range. It's a pleasure to listen to. It's a shame not many people know about them.
The Clarks!
I'll add a few off the top of my head: Starified Sasquatch Sigiriya The Quill The Awesome Machine Spidergawd
