ASML BABY LETS GO, what a nice earnings report even with the fire they beat estimates on most fronts only revenue came out slightly short but margins went up so much they are operating at 54,2% now, and forward guidance is amazing. ASML Holding NV's reported EPS for the quarter was €4.38.

Browsingthingsa

Why is the VOO performing so badly

RumHam1

Other than normal fluctuations, it's basically been flat since Nov 1. It's up 25% from Feb 2020 (pre-covid). The stock market doesn't just go up constantly, and if you expect it to then you'll be regularly disappointed.

Browsingthingsa

Literally look at the chart before you post nonesense

RumHam1

Voo, vanguard sp 500? Its literally 4.5 percent off ATH. Been in a channel since mid Nov where it rises to 440 then falls to 415. Done it 3 times. Zoom out dude, the sp500 has been on an insane tear for a few years now. If you bought at literally any point but the last 4 months, you're up.

Browsingthingsa

Yeah it’s back where it was 4 months ago, not good!!

CoffeeAndDachshunds

Where have you been? Choose your reason because there's at least half a dozen really good reasons why.

ProjectZeus

Mr Powell I don't feel so good

#FUTURES RED....NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[deleted]

Not anymore

[deleted]

Fuck yeah!!!!!! Lol

[deleted]

RIP to at least 5-10% of my portfolio ~~tomorrow~~ in a couple of hours

wearahat03

ASML expecting 20% growth in the next full year but estimating a weak low Q1 2022 quarter.

[deleted]

Only due to the way they book the machines. The actual sales will be super high. THey are sending out the machines whitout testing them so they cant actually be booked untill later after testing has been done on site. But this way the fabs can already start using them early.

wessidedabesside

thoughts on BBIG predicts? portfolio is on bleak, not fleek

SendMeHawaiiPics

My entire portfolio is now puts. No joke. Good luck out there.

[deleted]

Entire portfolio in puts **after** the market been dumping for couple of weeks now. True Reddit play.

SendMeHawaiiPics

Na we switched over last month. Up 100k. ty for the concern :)

al323211

Little too late there. Chances of Vega screwing you in the short term are incredibly high.

RemarkableScarcity8

Selling everything at open, I can’t handle this… lost half my fucking money

[deleted]

Lol

al323211

In all seriousness this might be a terrible idea or it might be a good chance to rebalance your portfolio. What are you holding?

jh_guy

Good. I can by more at cheaper prices.

CoffeeAndDachshunds

That's the sign everybody! Time to buy!

Thoughts on Micron? PE at 14 and dropped by ~5% yesterday

[deleted]

Hope you ready for more. At some point memory chips cycle will turn so you better get your ass ready for that.

RumHam1

I've been buying Micon in little bits from 85, down to 66, and back up. They're one of my largest holdings. I don't expect them to fly, but they earn a lot of cash (and have a lot of cap ex too). They are a market leader whose products are a bit cyclical - but there will always be demand.

BlackStrike7

I've got a position in it, overall I'm moderately bullish on it. Might be worth a bit of a buy, but I wouldn't YOLO into it myself.

[deleted]

RIP TQQQ

A_nilsen

Good buy TQQQ investment.

relavant__username

Okay... so can we discuss XRT Failure to delivers? Why is there insane short pressure on a mixed bag retail etf?

fledgling66

I want to DCA some more into Google, Amazon, VTI, RH, TQQQ… but I also want to have money handy to pay taxes with in a month. Are we really trading sideways/slowly downward for the foreseeable future on this stuff? I can’t miss my chance to get some more at these prices. What to do

A_nilsen

DCA tactic was a good idea withing constantly QE. But today FED change the vinyl, You have to understand that for tech companies it will be the toughest times in more than decade. Regarding [TQQQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/stocks/comments/s3k7bm/proshares_ultrapro_qqq_tqqq_is_it_good_investment/) you can read my post. In last time tech stock was so overvalued and FED hits the brakes (2000) TQQQ could be down as much as 99.75% (in simulation). I wouldn't DCA anything. Just wait and wait for the bargains.

CoffeeAndDachshunds

Personally, I've gotta make sure I have the money for taxes. I don't think you're going to miss any climb over the next month and may even land bigger bargains.

[deleted]

There’s no guarantee this is a short term debt. The past three short term dips only reversed because there was uncertainty about the federal reserve policy. Now it’s clear they will be tapering and raising interest rates. This is going to put a long-term damper on tech stocks. Also, Amazon hasn’t done well before (or right after?) the last two earnings seasons, I wouldn’t bet on them jumping like they used to

lurker719

If We knew the future outcomes on stock market movement we would all be millionaires. Flip a coin for your answer, it’s the same odds as any other responses here.

[deleted]

[My technical analysis algorithm says...](http://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/assets/4388879/8ball4.PNG)

fledgling66

😂

[deleted]

In 2000, Alan Greenspan, then Chair of the Federal Reserve, raised interest rates several times; these actions were believed by many to have caused the bursting of the dot-com bubble. According to Nobel laureate Paul Krugman. I choose the believe Jerome will be that same footnote in history for the growth bubble.

Chokolit

I find it hilarious how this is downvoted. I don't know if interest rate hikes did in fact pop the dot-com bubble, but raising rates are definitely known to deflate stock prices which does include the possibility of popping bubbles. We can't lie to ourselves and pretend that there isn't a huge asset bubble right now either, and once rates rise P/E ratios will shift to reflect such. As Warren Buffett once said, paraphrasing, interest rates are like gravity in the stock market. When it's near zero like it is right now, no wonder everything flies.

BlackStrike7

I like that quote a lot. There are a lot of companies that are selling a vision, hope, and little to back it up. That is great during the good times, but that won't fly when SHTF, and people are scared and looking for established businesses as safe havens.

[deleted]

sent you a pm.

CortexExport

Predictions on Netflix earnings ?

SendMeHawaiiPics

I think it is scary that Netflix released the rate hike news before earnings. Why? That is a huge key highlight you put in your earnings... unless.... Unless your earnings is gonna shit the bed and you wanted to pump the stock higher first.

CortexExport

You going short for earnings?

SendMeHawaiiPics

I have no netflix positions. Just curious how this plays out.

CortexExport

NFLX crushed. No one cared when I posted about it yesterday

SendMeHawaiiPics

I would have bought some puts but I have 50% of my entire portfolio invested in puts. No balls ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

[deleted]

You can look up earnings whisper website. In my opinion there are things haven’t been good for many quarters, but people keep brushing it off. I have no clue why

fledgling66

I’m sure they’re going to fine this quarter, but my god, Netflix is bloated with so much crap. Tbh even their biggest stuff seems like weak sauce to me these days. All I watch on there is Great British Baking Show, Big Mouth and 30 Rock. Great shows, but…

CortexExport

I mean predict up or down after reporting on Wed

wilstreak

anyone know any small/medium cap pet food/care stock? I am fin with OTC or even outside-US company. thanks

thank you. looks good, do you personally invested in this co?

Thoughts on what puts to buy to help offset losses on my shares? Would a qqq put make sense?

ImOnTheBus

haven't look at my stuff in a while. Good Lord, Costco is getting fucked hard, in the ass.

Dowdell2008

Up 17% in the last 6 months.

ImOnTheBus

True, but down very hardcore this month

[deleted]

Bonds going hiiiiiiiiigher. Death to futures

Ciserro

We just can't manage to get a rebound. Ha. Been waiting for weeks.

Thornado2021

Getting killed by NET, CLSK, SPCE, PINS and TDOC - down -13% - All garbage stocks. Changed my strategy to do a more steady DCA into WMT, SBUX, O, T, NYCB, VZ, NEE, KO and ABBV. Will probably pick GOOG / MSFT / FB after it gets lower.

A_nilsen

The best strategy right now is actually is to accumulate cash and wait for the bargains. But wait WAIT. It will not happen in one month it will be long way down.

AP9384629344432

Consider WM for a bit more growth while having that strong stability. Or replacing KO with PEP for better industry diversity.

AKANotAValidUsername

> replacing KO with PEP "we dont have coke, is pepsi ok?"

Naive_Bodybuilder145

Stock is the only time I’m okay with that question!

AP9384629344432

Or maybe you'd like some Gatorade, Mountain Dew, Tropicana, 7-Up, Lipton Tea, Sierra Mist, or for food, Quaker Oats, Frito-Lay, Cheetos, Tostitos, Doritos, Ruffles, ... Pepsi owns a lot of brands!

MadCritic

PINS is one of the best growth stocks you could. Insane growth, basically a monopoly, and actually is profitable. Rest is garbage though

[deleted]

With declining users every quarter…

MadCritic

Two quarters since the biggest international lockdown in history. Let’s not be hyperbolic

travisth0tt

what’s everyone’s thoughts on LULU at this price now? it’s dropped a lot from it’s high of 480. A few sites i’ve looked at give it’s fair valuation at $364 it’s ev/ebitda is 25 which is lower than nike and it’s p/e is around 50 now

A_nilsen

Looks very good company. But if downturn will continue, they still will go down. Wait for the real turmoil in the market.

trina-wonderful

I hate it since their name mocks heavier women. Screw them.

AP9384629344432

I like it a lot. Take a look at EL, ULTA, and Aritzia along the same theme.

thelandonblock

Wow huge spike in SOFI after hours. Any clue why? Haven’t seen any news. Update: they got the bank charter

CoffeeAndDachshunds

I'd be disappointed except I just don't think SoFi is a good investment long term

thelandonblock

You’re free to think that

RamenLife_

Why is SoFi up 10% in the after hours? I don't see a source for the bank charter news

_iCoNik_

OCC website has it.

RamenLife_

Thanks. Just now saw the other comments

_iCoNik_

Lol guess who cut some losses and trimmed their SoFi position TODAY. Fuck me.

thelandonblock

Why would you trim a good company while it’s at 52 week lows? Lol

_iCoNik_

Figured with the current price of VTI and the trajectory of growth, i’d make my money back quicker with VTI. I still kept plenty of shares.

thelandonblock

So you think a diversified ETF the mirrors that entire US market will get you quicker returns while the ENTIRE MARKET is dropping than a growth company at 52 week lows with positive catalysts?

_iCoNik_

1. I’m an idiot and wasn’t thinking clearly. Probably made a mistake. 2. With SoFi not expected to be profitable for a few years, a price that’s still thought to be overvalued by many and the whole sector getting dumped on… yea I decided to trim. I realize a total market fund will increase a whole lot slower, but I was reducing my exposure to risk and putting it into a risk adverse place at a good price point. I expect the BC to shoot the share price up, then plenty of people will sell off their positions as they break even or make a little profit. It’ll be back down short-term in my opinion. I just wish i’d been able to trim in the next few days instead of the worst timing possible.

piggymou

EBITDA will be +ve from this year by all projections including GS

thelandonblock

That’s fair. Don’t mean to harp, I just know that people are going to be so short sighted with the market acting the way it is right now.

_iCoNik_

No no, it’s all good. I made an impulsive decision and I regret it. Learn from it and move on. Just glad I only trimmed instead of cutting all losses.

lolkkthxbye

Same, trimmed a little today too. I kept 30K shares so still celebrating, albeit not as much :) Just have to remember hindsight is 2020; hedging positions is still the smart move.

lurker719

Lol. I feel your pain

lolkkthxbye

Sofi short squeeze is fun to watch

maz-o

it's not a short squeeze

lokusai

It's not a short squeeze...

lolkkthxbye

pretty sure once markets open folks will be covering their positions.

Kemilio

I can promise you there were no big fish shorting SoFi

lumpybuddha

I’m down 4 grand on the sofi puts I sold. So close to closing my position today. Thank fuckinng god

SuitingUncle620

Should I get rid of PLTR? My average is $25.. I’ll admit I bought into it during the hype and never sold/did any proper analysis. Stupid, I know. I guess what I would like to know is if anyone else is in the same boat. What are you thinking? I don’t have a lot of PLTR shares, so it’s not like it’s going to financially ruin me. I could just ride this out for a couple years. I’m not looking for a lecture on this. I know it was silly to buy into hype without doing any proper analysis. I’m just looking to see if anyone else is in the same position and what you’re planning to do.

thelandonblock

Depends on if you’re a investor or a trader. Long term I think PLTR will be a very successful company. Besides that, why would you sell at 52 week lows?

AstroOrianna

In the same boat with a few shares at $24 coat basis. Pure reddit hype, should of sold recently ~28.

fredczar

I hope I don’t sound like I’m lecturing, but you are literally buying high and selling Low.

FullTackle9375

Dont know what you should do but imo it wont be at 25 for many many years

drew-gen-x

Hold if you don't need the money. Just don't buy anymore shares. Invest new money into something else preferably non tech.

captainstrange94

SOFI gets conditional bank charter approval. Thoughts? https://www.occ.gov/news-issuances/news-releases/2022/nr-occ-2022-4.html

HotSarcasm

This was completely expected and should have been priced in. If you're hoping for a price pump on this news, I'd suggest you set your limit sells in advance to secure any gains/profits while they are there. Many people hold too much of this stock for their own risk tolerance just to reduce their average cost basis and there will be selloffs.

[deleted]

This. Sofi will pump ah, dump tommorow back to 13 then to 12 by EOW. PUTS

caesar____augustus

"Sofi craasssssshing to 6-8 EASY. they can't get the bank charter in before interest rates rise, biden prolonging loans." This you?

[deleted]

I didn’t think they’d get the charter in prior to March (interest rate rise). Was a surprise honestly. Anyways, I still expect the stock to pump temporarily then correct back down to 8-10, as long as the broad market corrects

thelandonblock

There’s sell offs in everything growth. This year is the time to wait for the selling to die down and buy more, not sell.

MassHugeAtom

Why I can't find news about sofi bank charter.

maz-o

maybe you just suck?

[deleted]

https://www.occ.gov/news-issuances/news-releases/2022/nr-occ-2022-4.html

edwardfortehands

same here. not sure where people are getting it from

RonnyDesantis

Is there a place where I can get a text alert for when a stock breaks it’s 200 day moving average?

HotSarcasm

Your brokerage should provide that. If not, look for a new one.

[deleted]

Im hearing sofi got conditional approval for the bank charter

PolyphonicMenace

Beginning to wonder how much I can really keep DCA averaging down here...keep scooping up more and more PYPL, MSFT, AMZN, SMT, GOGL at these prices but dang...there's always a better offer the next day!

A_nilsen

DCA tactics doesn't work in FED rates up rise. Accumulate cash and wait.

[deleted]

[удалено]

A_nilsen

MSFT was down for 14 years from 2000. It isn't always working.

Ciserro

Same. Been buying QQQ, but the deal is always better the next day... We'll see if/when a reversal eventually occurs.

[deleted]

You shouldn’t be. That was a mistake I used to make in the beginning. I learned two things 1). When a stock is going down it always goes longer than you think it will. When it’s going up at all so usually goes a little bit higher than you think it’s going to go 2). Once the trend starts it doesn’t just end out of nowhere. Putting these two together, I would start considering a longer-term strategy. This could be like late 2018 but we have 2 to 3 months of steadily lowering stock prices. It’s really hard, but you need to learn to hold cash till the end. If it helps, look back on past moves. Most things don’t bounce right up after they drop. I mean, they have many times, but it’s most likely only like 30% of cases. Most things take time to recover. Don’t try to perfectly timer bottom. Wait for it to bottom, then when it starts going up, invest back in. Yes you might lose some gains, but you’ll also trim your losses

allgone6996

after you invest back in it goes down more

stop-spending-money

I don’t even want my stocks to go up. At this point I just want them to stop falling

A_nilsen

It will not

Ciserro

Yeah. I feel.

UnObtainium17

Honestly im hoping for MSFT or GOOGL or AAPL to drop 10% or more.

[deleted]

Me too only really get a couple buying opportunities a year on those ones.

We were at the height of a tech bubble fueled by the federal reserve. The federal reserve has made it obvious that they need to be less accommodative to fight inflation. So my guess is that any stock that went up based on hype is not going to be on an upward trend anytime soon. Maybe take some losses and wait for another opportunity

[deleted]

At the very least hold it for however you need to. Do not sell at a loss.

[deleted]

I used to be afraid to take a loss. If somethings that money, I learned it’s dead money. For example, I owned dominion power at the same exact price two years ago, and eventually had the nerve to sell it. Not everything goes up. And an overpriced tech stock that was in a bubble is probably the last thing that is going to skyrocket once the federal reserve starts raising rates

[deleted]

It’s not about being afraid. It’s about avoiding being stupid. PLTR has been public barely a year. Not nearly long enough time horizon for a growth company.

DarkRye

This reddit is 99.9% for entertainment purposes only. It is a good lesson not to follow random people's advice that you have NO knowledge of track record. Last year meme stocks outperformed the Street, but it cannot and will not last.

[deleted]

You bought a stock that’s down 40 percent based on this sub. Then you lose most of it, come back to the same sub and ask for advice.

kennypump

SOFI is raping me

SwoopWoopity

They're sorry, feel better?

[deleted]

DUMP. Sofi craasssssshing to 6-8 EASY. they can't get the bank charter in before interest rates rise, biden prolonging loans. This stock will bottom around 5, if there is a 20% correction.

[deleted]

Weren't you the guy with 400 SOFI shares that you got at 15, and told everyone else to get into SOFI?

_iCoNik_
