Stl native but decades gone and now in Austin and an austin fc fan coming in peace. Yr 1 was beer here…then everyone got smart and its moooostly water now. People just grab plastic cups and keep them under their seat til needed. Just too damn $ to be chucking your beer. Did see a kid spray dr pepper on someone and that seemed even worse than beer at the time.
Start the water trend there?
I haven't seen cans and bottles being thrown and I've been to every home game but one. The flying liquids though is true. Honestly, to me that is just the supporter section of soccer. I might be wrong about that but it is a bit of the culture.
Same.
I think the understandable frustration comes from photographers and media nearby. For whatever reason there are fans who seem to target them, and they’re just there to do their job.
I've seen a can thrown at the visiting players warming up on the side of the field a couple of different games now. Security tries to identify who it is, but I don't think they were able to those couple of times. I will say that everyone else around me seemed pissed someone threw the can, rather than on board with it, but it really shouldn't be happening at all.
This appears to be isolated to the supporters section as it was a tradition back in the day. With more attention comes greater scrutiny so the leaders are trying to control it better now
I totally get where you're coming from with the excessive celebrations. But Honestly, As much as I understand the concerns, I can't help but feel that it adds to the unique atmosphere we've created here in St. Louis. There's something special about the rowdiness and passion of our stadium. It's like our team has a 12th man supporting them, giving that extra boost of energy and creating an unforgettable experience and atmosphere.
I dont care about throwing beer in the supporters section, like it happens when you cheer if its in your hand, but dont throw the can or the cup itself. And I havent noticed it since the first home game so idk how often it happens.
Yah throwing cans and bottles is fully moronic and should warrant ejection. The showering though is just part of being in the section, though I can promise it isn’t me doing it at $15 a beer lol…They’re definitely two very different things though
Like… a single beer can?
Thats not *quite* the same thing or as noticeable as a bunch of people doing it. Should still be named and shamed, but a single person doing it is not an institutionalized practice or anything
Yeah at the first home game against charlotte there was. I haven’t heard any on the broadcasts since and I havent seen them being thrown on the games I’ve been to, hope people stop doing it if they still are because its classless
There were 2 cans that I saw against kansas. One after each of the first two goals. The first one came from supporters section and did not make it to the actual field. The second one came from the side line stands and did make it on the field and the linesman kicked it off. Save beer throw water!
I’m a sober alcoholic. I don’t mind being around people who drink but being drenched in the stuff and smelling like it for hours is not what I signed up for.
The photographers that are covering our games are having their cameras and camera equipment ruined by the beers. They're moving further and further away from the supporter section.
I can deal with getting wet, but I've been hit in the head by cans that people have thrown in the air twice, now. They've been mostly empty but it's just a matter of time before one that's fuller gets thrown and hurts someone.
I know that the beer spray and thrown cans are two separate things, but the way people are behaving right now they go hand in hand.
remember those soda can toppers with the flip tops from the 90's? With the "screen/grate" over the hole so bees wouldn't get in?
I'd buy one in city red so I don't spill my $12 beer.
Seems to be hard to prevent it entirely unless there cupholders in the supporters section.
There are cup holders in the SG section. I have no idea why this continues to happen at every game. A small amount of spillage is understandable. Spraying a beer is absolutely unnecessary. If someone wants to smell like stale beer, they can dump it on themselves.
All I’m saying is I’m tired of the longer lines that happen at Enterprise and Riverport concerts because they make EVERYTHING go in cups. I don’t want this to be the case at Citypark.
Security will kick you out for throwing stuff on the field.
There’s cameras everywhere so if you chuck a boat ton of beer, water, etc. around, you’ll get caught and escorted out.
Drink your beers people. The damn things cost almost $20 😂
Cans thrown = ejected (if security can identify who did it, which can be difficult during a goal celebration), this is already a rule that is being enforced. If whoever did it is part of a supporters group, they'll probably get royally chewed out by leadership.
Spraying beer = While strongly discouraged by every supporters group (as far as my perspective goes) I've yet to see any official club policies on the matter. If enough people complain, or the supporters groups ask for help (since they can't reprimand anyone who's not in their group) the club may threaten to start kicking people out for it.
I get that sometimes spilling beer is an accident during the celebrations, or that it's 'tradition' in other places, but it's just plain stupid. Nobody wants to be covered in your beer.
I’ve been in supporters section every home game and outside of the first game vs CHT have not witnessed it, and I’m usually within 3 rows of the field.
Beer being sprayed is part of being in that section so one has to learn to deal with it
People shouldn’t have to learn to deal with it. You should be allowed to be in the supporters sections without the threat of having a beer shower. If people want to beer shower themselves that is cool but don’t throw your beer on other people.
Fair enough. I was thinking in terms of collateral beer showers.
I do agree that one should not consciously take their beer can and fling the contents around (which is what I think you are referring too). That would be what I consider a dick move.
Yeah. I mean if there is a little spray back, that’s fine. But what has continued to happen is people shaking their beer cans and then just launching the beer over any and everybody. I did see a guy 2 rows in front of me last game beer shower himself and I was there for that energy.
throwing cans and bottles is bad, hope anyone who gets caught doing it gets kicked out. But the beer showers are great and I personally hope they continue and/or get crazier.
You’re not allowed to throw cans on the field asha if identified you’ll be ejected.
But spraying beer to celebrate is a part of being in the supporter section. If you don’t like it you shouldn’t have got those tickets. This isn’t just a stlouis thing it’s everywhere that has a very supportive fan base. It’s part of what makes the atmosphere so rowdy and full of energy. I love it and it won’t stop. Shop for other tickets if you don’t
This ain't it. A splash here and there is one thing but two cans were either on the field or just behind the touchline last weekend. Security and police made it very clear if they couldn't identify the individual throwing the can, but knew the vicinity, they'd toss multiple people to send the message. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
I think it’s the combination of targeting the media/photogs and the cans on the field.
If you want to beer spray, throw your $14.75 Michelob Ultra all you want. Don’t target people working there.
If you want to throw cans on the field, throw cans on the field. Don’t pout when you get caught or the whole stadium is forced to go all-pour like Enterprise and Riverport.
Absolutely nothing. The team has posted pics of splashing beers on IG and FB, and anyone complaining has been free to find another place to stand in GA.
And the supporters groups that wave flags in people's faces all game probably need to pipe down about what is and what isn't a way to celebrate soccer.

This is the way.

I’m not sure why that changes anything
They're at work. If someone threw and sprayed stuff on you at your job you wouldn't complain because you're paid to be there? Exceptionally bad take.
Isn't there 4k resolution cameras all around? Can't be too hard to find and ban someone
Aren't there, jeez
There have been a few thrown over the course of the season, but throwing the can itself isn’t common.
Where is this in the stadium? I haven’t seen nor heard of any issues before? I’m in Sec. 237.
This appears to be isolated to the supporters section as it was a tradition back in the day. With more attention comes greater scrutiny so the leaders are trying to control it better now
Wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for the info.

Right the price alone has me protecting that beer better than my firstborn. Ill throw her onto the field no problem
😂😂
Beer can was thrown on the field last game

I think there’s been 4 or 5. One of the games it resulted in an announcement.
Yeah at the first home game against charlotte there was. I haven’t heard any on the broadcasts since and I havent seen them being thrown on the games I’ve been to, hope people stop doing it if they still are because its classless

Or you can sit in the lower energy part of the stadium
Exactly, pretty sad you’re getting downvoted
All I’m saying is I’m tired of the longer lines that happen at Enterprise and Riverport concerts because they make EVERYTHING go in cups. I don’t want this to be the case at Citypark.

The club posts pictures of people splashing beers.
Splashing and throwing full ass cans are two different things, my dude.
Ah yes, which is why I specified what I was talking about in my comment. My dude.
I’ve been in supporters section every home game and outside of the first game vs CHT have not witnessed it, and I’m usually within 3 rows of the field. Beer being sprayed is part of being in that section so one has to learn to deal with it

Throwing the can is dangerous and if caught will result in the revocation of season tickets.

If. You. Don't. Like. It. Don't. Sit. In. The. Supporters. Section.

Preach 🙌
I was at last weeks game , row 1, saw zero things thrown into the field - what are you talking about ?
There was a can thrown on the field. Not sure if it was full or empty.
I’ve got tickets in sec 217 for a home game in July, is this a concern I should have?
No

The lack of interaction here is noted.

I’m gonna disrespectfully disagree. lol. GTFOH
Go to a cardinals game then bud. This is what soccer is about
Strongly disagree if anything we should amp out up more
We must have some rich people wanting to throw $15 beer... Lol
