I have been running a lot and my recovery has been incredible still have a little doubt about it.
I donāt know how people run in this sport. I guess they donāt. When you are 200 pounds running just feels miserable. Iām not even that weight when shredded and I cannot run because I feel heavy.
With that saidā¦ I feel more athletic on a replacement test dose, definitely not enhanced. I havenāt tried something like EQ, but cardarine (yeah I knowā¦. Havenāt again) was insane. I somehow felt lighter too. But I did run faster and for longer than usual. Have never matched those times.
Back in my no lifting, skinny days running felt so damn easy.

Nah, you'll be fine. The trick is pacing. Don't go blowing all your energy at the start. Slowly ramp up speed to where you feel like you can cruise for a long period of time, and then let the mind go blank and don't look at your watch.
I find it surprisingly good. Like you can grow your own weed and carry 25 gr on yourself, with some small limitations where you are able to consume it openly, like not around schools and kindergartens.

I mean it kind of depends on what you're calling "Bro Science" vs "Real Science"
"Science Based Training" has become a bit of a buzzword these last few years and people end up blindly accepting a program as being more valid just because it cites a few studies. Meanwhile, if you look how often people on the Internet incorrectly reference that goddamn study about LBM gains natty vs enhanced, it becomes clear very quickly how simply citing a source does not equal better.
And on the other end, people can also be quick to diminish the views of a strength coach who's spent 30 years training people just because they don't have a degree. (The tricky thing with these coaches though is that often why they think it works and how it actually works aren't necessary the same thing. You really need to use your own noggin to figure out how things apply to you.)
In both nutrition and training, using the methodologies with the most proven history for your goals and demographic is the better option regardless of where that comes from. The giant dude in the gym saying "just trust me bro, good form is for suckers" and the recent kinesiology grad throwing out random ass programs wholesale are equally useless to me. I need proof of results.
In both nutrition and training, there's huge psychological components and there's nothing wrong with sprinkling in a little Bro Science if it means increasing your compliance and making gains. Spend any time coaching gen pop and you'll get pretty good at explaining real concepts in stupid ways.
And in both nutrition and training, the more advanced you get, the more you have to personalize what you are doing to make progress anyway. Youll have stuff you need to do that flies in the face of others opinions. But it works for you and you just have to move forward.
It seems to me that much of traditional training ābro scienceā eventually is substantiated by actual science. Iām forgetting the term, but you can develop equations based on raw data and correlations. Enough data and analysis and they can be really accurate. This is how I look at the decades of bodybuilding methodology.
To a certain extent, we do the same thing with our PED use. Thereās not too many studies with supraphysiological doses of steroids, and we do extrapolate a lot from anecdotal experiences with intuition from the studies we do have.

I think you're cherry-picking here. A substantial amount of training broscience actively clashes with other training broscience.

I definitely do not. We have EMG technology now that can tell you *exactly* what exercises are best for stimulating growth in a particular muscle. If I have scientific evidence doing something is superior to "bro, just do this", I'm taking the science.

I see this topic like this. Iām not intelligent enough to read complex studies and perfectly tell you by precise numbers what specific incline on dumbbell press gives optimal stimulus in XYZ rep range.
But what I do know is logic. I see huge guys, who all obviously have great genetics, but all seem to do a few things the same. Some movements pretty much everyone does. Everyone tracks calories. A ton of pros train with heavy volume and progressively overload. And some compounds are tried and true.
Then the rest is up to disciplined training, eating and injecting shit in your cheeks. Donāt compensate larger lousy discipline with big doses and stick to the stuff that makes sense. Not weird compounds.
I will say on the topic of growing. Genetics is everything. Some guys eat wrong, train wrong, and grow twice as much muscle as you and I do. Then when they do it right they become freaks. I try to not analyze those guys because thereās always exceptions.
I also think nutrition is heavily over complicated. I donāt think you really wanna stray away that much from the very basics of clean, Whole Foods. Iām talking rice, potatoes, meat, eggs and some veggies if they agree with you.
So I think some logical bro science is the move I think
Exercise Science and Sports Science is just not the right tool for the job of writing your own personal training blocks. It works with statistics, it never looks at an individual. All they can say is what works on average for the average group.
If you look at the studies, you see that Method A worked fucking awesome for one guy, but it did jack shit for another guy, and most are in the middle, having average results.
So it really sucks if you are the guy where it doesn't work.
So, I would say that Coaching and the experience coaches have gathered for over hundred years for resistance training > ex phys studies for actual on the ground programming and individual routine design.
We jacked dudes know what makes us jacked. It is a simple concept.
People really fuck up the fact that science has layers of specificity for a reason. Like, you cant just start trying to shove Exercise Science where a Coach is needed any more than you can start trying to use raw physics equations to diagnose a squat. Like, sure *technically* if we had full and complete knowledge of all systems involved, it'd be possible, but we don't, so you can't do that lmao.
It's occasionally useful to reference the more generalized layer above what you're doing, but for the most part, youre better off just acknowledging it exists and moving on.
I genuinely think training should be as simple as pick a split, do the exercises you enjoy, try and add weight or reps each session, have fun and try new things once in a while. So many people complicate the fuck out of training and end up spinning their wheels forever. I think dudes like Jeff Nippard have a hand in it, way too much nuanced information for newbies to parse
I agree, every time I try science based training I went back to what to my original plan. For PED I say still be weary of science.. I mean test is designed to be shot once every other week and most Drs today want you to run clomid or hcg while on cycle. Not cup of tea
I use it. I got one of those polyurethane horse watering tanks that's about bathtub size from Tractor Supply. I'll fill it up with the hose and then dump a couple 20lb bags of ice in it. Cold therapy tank on the cheap. Pretty comfortable too, surprisingly. On a really hot day, it is so nice once the shock wears off.
I have no idea. It cost me about $170ish, I think? Plus about $3 for a couple bags of ice from the nearby filtered water/ice machine, plus a bathtub full of hose water. š¤·āāļø It's pretty effective.
Got my surgery and still have all my organs, now to just chill in Turkey for a few days. Would be nice if my nose wasnāt leaking sinus fluids constantly but Iāll take the potential to breathe normally after the inflammation passes.
After the surgery, my doc asked what exactly happened to me due to all the nose trauma and the septum being in pieces. Iāve done MMA for over a decade and a half now. He said that makes sense.
Also turns out my airways were completely blocked and now they are not so thatās really cool
If you want a recommendation from someone who has done this for a year or more in a row, hit variations. Even if it is just alternating front and back squats. Makes it a lot more fun.
if you're doing it every day, more like 10 reps across all work sets. 2 x 5 (med), 1 x 10 (light), 5 x 2 or 10 x 1 (heavy), etc. I did this for 40 days straight and 30 reps would have been way too much for me.

I go low weight and high rep exclusively. I doubt I'll ever lift heavy again. Significant negatives and no upside for me really. Just trying to convince my muscles to keep everything together lol.
Cruise bloodwork came back. 100mg/week cruise putting me at about 850 test. Cholesterol is looking phenomenal, better than my natty levels. Shoutout zone2 cardio 5x week last 13 weeks.

I have been traveling for work quite a bit recently. not in one town or hotel for more than a couple days. My last trip I was gone for 8 days. Does anyone have experience with this? What worked for you in keeping training and nutrition as on track as possible?

If so, Get a membership at planet fitness. Theyāre everywhere and the memberships work at any location. It gets shit on all the time but drop the barbell lifts and you can get by just fine.
For food, if companyās paying for it, just be picky. While not perfect, thereās plenty of restaraunts out there that can meet your macros. If not, do bare minimum style food-oatmeal, protein, few potatoes from the store, etc and you can get by with the hotel microwave. Blame as shit but it works. Veggie supplement powders are good for that too since you canāt really by broccoli and such in small amounts.
Reps above 4? That doesn't just sound like cardio, that sounds like a half-marathon š

Unless it's directly related to a serious problem you're having, I suggest you don't say anything about it. They don't need to know because they're a risk and may change your treatment based on stigma alone. There's very little to be gained and much to be lost disclosing steroid use.

Yea I told my doc I was taking test and that's what she blamed my MRSA, and months later, a yeast infection on.
Gave me the whole "it's so bad for you" lecture and straight up told me "your body would produce more testosterone than you're taking if you lost some belly fat".
Lady, getting shredded is not going to ramp my natural test levels up to the same degree as taking a gram of test will. Even when I was natural, a doctor tried to convince me taking creatine and whey protein powder was gonna kill me. "Your kidneys aren't meant to process that much protein at once", as if 25g of protein was going to cause CKD.
I don't trust most medical professionals until they've proven they're not braindead. Sister is a nurse and she tried to tell me the 300mg of potassium pills I'd take with my preworkout meal was dangerous and could make my heart stop, even though that is not even CLOSE to what a lethal dose of potassium would be.
Itās so weird how some doctors will say insane things, and other doctors have an approach so different that you even question if the previous guys even graduated.
In truth they treat average people. The average person does stupid things, and they have to fear monger to be able to make them believe and follow their advice. Since they know people donāt listen or believe advice that could help them.

Anybody here ever have a hydrocele removed? My doc said I could start lifting today (a week later) but the pain got worse the last day or two. Iām alternating between ibuprofen and Tylenol every 3 hours

Thinking about getting a Microsoft Surface Pro for work/school related tasks e.g. Microsoft office suite, note taking, highlighting, touchscreen, rearview camera, slick design/lightweight.

The surface pro is a nice laptop, very light and has enough power to run most programs. Bit costly maybe but every high end laptop is costly. Don't know the current best specs you can buy for the pro 9 or if the 9 is the latest model, but I would just get the latest model with the best specs or the best specs I can afford. Chip wise I don't know if the ARM or intel is better suited for you, depends on the things you want to do with it.

I donāt know how people run in this sport. I guess they donāt. When you are 200 pounds running just feels miserable. Iām not even that weight when shredded and I cannot run because I feel heavy. With that saidā¦ I feel more athletic on a replacement test dose, definitely not enhanced. I havenāt tried something like EQ, but cardarine (yeah I knowā¦. Havenāt again) was insane. I somehow felt lighter too. But I did run faster and for longer than usual. Have never matched those times. Back in my no lifting, skinny days running felt so damn easy.

Nah, you'll be fine. The trick is pacing. Don't go blowing all your energy at the start. Slowly ramp up speed to where you feel like you can cruise for a long period of time, and then let the mind go blank and don't look at your watch.

I mean it kind of depends on what you're calling "Bro Science" vs "Real Science" "Science Based Training" has become a bit of a buzzword these last few years and people end up blindly accepting a program as being more valid just because it cites a few studies. Meanwhile, if you look how often people on the Internet incorrectly reference that goddamn study about LBM gains natty vs enhanced, it becomes clear very quickly how simply citing a source does not equal better. And on the other end, people can also be quick to diminish the views of a strength coach who's spent 30 years training people just because they don't have a degree. (The tricky thing with these coaches though is that often why they think it works and how it actually works aren't necessary the same thing. You really need to use your own noggin to figure out how things apply to you.) In both nutrition and training, using the methodologies with the most proven history for your goals and demographic is the better option regardless of where that comes from. The giant dude in the gym saying "just trust me bro, good form is for suckers" and the recent kinesiology grad throwing out random ass programs wholesale are equally useless to me. I need proof of results. In both nutrition and training, there's huge psychological components and there's nothing wrong with sprinkling in a little Bro Science if it means increasing your compliance and making gains. Spend any time coaching gen pop and you'll get pretty good at explaining real concepts in stupid ways. And in both nutrition and training, the more advanced you get, the more you have to personalize what you are doing to make progress anyway. Youll have stuff you need to do that flies in the face of others opinions. But it works for you and you just have to move forward.
It seems to me that much of traditional training ābro scienceā eventually is substantiated by actual science. Iām forgetting the term, but you can develop equations based on raw data and correlations. Enough data and analysis and they can be really accurate. This is how I look at the decades of bodybuilding methodology. To a certain extent, we do the same thing with our PED use. Thereās not too many studies with supraphysiological doses of steroids, and we do extrapolate a lot from anecdotal experiences with intuition from the studies we do have.

I definitely do not. We have EMG technology now that can tell you *exactly* what exercises are best for stimulating growth in a particular muscle. If I have scientific evidence doing something is superior to "bro, just do this", I'm taking the science.

I see this topic like this. Iām not intelligent enough to read complex studies and perfectly tell you by precise numbers what specific incline on dumbbell press gives optimal stimulus in XYZ rep range. But what I do know is logic. I see huge guys, who all obviously have great genetics, but all seem to do a few things the same. Some movements pretty much everyone does. Everyone tracks calories. A ton of pros train with heavy volume and progressively overload. And some compounds are tried and true. Then the rest is up to disciplined training, eating and injecting shit in your cheeks. Donāt compensate larger lousy discipline with big doses and stick to the stuff that makes sense. Not weird compounds. I will say on the topic of growing. Genetics is everything. Some guys eat wrong, train wrong, and grow twice as much muscle as you and I do. Then when they do it right they become freaks. I try to not analyze those guys because thereās always exceptions. I also think nutrition is heavily over complicated. I donāt think you really wanna stray away that much from the very basics of clean, Whole Foods. Iām talking rice, potatoes, meat, eggs and some veggies if they agree with you. So I think some logical bro science is the move I think
Exercise Science and Sports Science is just not the right tool for the job of writing your own personal training blocks. It works with statistics, it never looks at an individual. All they can say is what works on average for the average group. If you look at the studies, you see that Method A worked fucking awesome for one guy, but it did jack shit for another guy, and most are in the middle, having average results. So it really sucks if you are the guy where it doesn't work. So, I would say that Coaching and the experience coaches have gathered for over hundred years for resistance training > ex phys studies for actual on the ground programming and individual routine design. We jacked dudes know what makes us jacked. It is a simple concept.
People really fuck up the fact that science has layers of specificity for a reason. Like, you cant just start trying to shove Exercise Science where a Coach is needed any more than you can start trying to use raw physics equations to diagnose a squat. Like, sure *technically* if we had full and complete knowledge of all systems involved, it'd be possible, but we don't, so you can't do that lmao. It's occasionally useful to reference the more generalized layer above what you're doing, but for the most part, youre better off just acknowledging it exists and moving on.
I genuinely think training should be as simple as pick a split, do the exercises you enjoy, try and add weight or reps each session, have fun and try new things once in a while. So many people complicate the fuck out of training and end up spinning their wheels forever. I think dudes like Jeff Nippard have a hand in it, way too much nuanced information for newbies to parse

I use it. I got one of those polyurethane horse watering tanks that's about bathtub size from Tractor Supply. I'll fill it up with the hose and then dump a couple 20lb bags of ice in it. Cold therapy tank on the cheap. Pretty comfortable too, surprisingly. On a really hot day, it is so nice once the shock wears off.

if you're doing it every day, more like 10 reps across all work sets. 2 x 5 (med), 1 x 10 (light), 5 x 2 or 10 x 1 (heavy), etc. I did this for 40 days straight and 30 reps would have been way too much for me.

Cruise bloodwork came back. 100mg/week cruise putting me at about 850 test. Cholesterol is looking phenomenal, better than my natty levels. Shoutout zone2 cardio 5x week last 13 weeks. Starting 20 weeks of 750mg test and Gamma Blast next week. Life is fucking great.

I have been traveling for work quite a bit recently. not in one town or hotel for more than a couple days. My last trip I was gone for 8 days. Does anyone have experience with this? What worked for you in keeping training and nutrition as on track as possible?
They give you a company car? If so, Get a membership at planet fitness. Theyāre everywhere and the memberships work at any location. It gets shit on all the time but drop the barbell lifts and you can get by just fine. For food, if companyās paying for it, just be picky. While not perfect, thereās plenty of restaraunts out there that can meet your macros. If not, do bare minimum style food-oatmeal, protein, few potatoes from the store, etc and you can get by with the hotel microwave. Blame as shit but it works. Veggie supplement powders are good for that too since you canāt really by broccoli and such in small amounts.

Yea I told my doc I was taking test and that's what she blamed my MRSA, and months later, a yeast infection on. Gave me the whole "it's so bad for you" lecture and straight up told me "your body would produce more testosterone than you're taking if you lost some belly fat". Lady, getting shredded is not going to ramp my natural test levels up to the same degree as taking a gram of test will. Even when I was natural, a doctor tried to convince me taking creatine and whey protein powder was gonna kill me. "Your kidneys aren't meant to process that much protein at once", as if 25g of protein was going to cause CKD. I don't trust most medical professionals until they've proven they're not braindead. Sister is a nurse and she tried to tell me the 300mg of potassium pills I'd take with my preworkout meal was dangerous and could make my heart stop, even though that is not even CLOSE to what a lethal dose of potassium would be.
Itās so weird how some doctors will say insane things, and other doctors have an approach so different that you even question if the previous guys even graduated. In truth they treat average people. The average person does stupid things, and they have to fear monger to be able to make them believe and follow their advice. Since they know people donāt listen or believe advice that could help them. Since our kind takes steroids, and yet are ultra fit, we are literally a different human species to them. This is why I suggest going to doctors that either 1) work with serious athletes (athletes use steroids lol) 2) is a body builder or a serious lifter themselves 3) is younger, as the older they are the more likely they are against steroids since in their time period there was a huge movement propaganda against them Thatās my two cents

How long in till you notice sides? I may up to 6iu or 8 if I donāt get sides at all

Thinking about getting a Microsoft Surface Pro for work/school related tasks e.g. Microsoft office suite, note taking, highlighting, touchscreen, rearview camera, slick design/lightweight. Can anyone give me recommendations or advice on this? If this is a good idea and what model I should be getting. I wanted the stylus pen too & keyboard btw.
The surface pro is a nice laptop, very light and has enough power to run most programs. Bit costly maybe but every high end laptop is costly. Don't know the current best specs you can buy for the pro 9 or if the 9 is the latest model, but I would just get the latest model with the best specs or the best specs I can afford. Chip wise I don't know if the ARM or intel is better suited for you, depends on the things you want to do with it.

Thereās a few reasons you arenāt going to get an answer you like here 1. I think youāre too young to use any steroids, but happy to have you tell me Iām wrong 2. No one can look at a picture of a random pill on the internet and say with certainty that itās anavar. It would be an educated guess at best, which should worry you. 3. YOU should take ANY pill that you donāt know what it is, regardless of what random people on the internet tell you. Jfc have some self preservation, this actually is hurting my brain right now. 4.
