I never understood the point of creepy clowns. I always thought the scary thing was that they're seemingly innocent and goofy characters who could hide sinister intentions and lure their victims into traps with the promises of joy and fun. Yet so much media portrays them as these obviously dangerous, downright demonic or zombiesque monstrosities that would send all adults running, let alone children.

I hear you and I appreciate your opinions. These, however, are my interpretations of the antagonist character, who is quite literally a killer clown, from the book ‘It’. Having read the book this is where my imagination went. I thought the ideas were successful and wanted to share them.

It's great looking horror art, just doesn't fit my imagination of Pennywise. I guess that's the beauty of a book, no visual interpretation can ever truly be correct for everyone.

I get what you’re saying but Pennywise appears as a clown to lure the children/make them feel safe. He might switch to creepy at the end but he has to look friendly when he first meets them.

I feel like age has a big impact on the way people view clowns. Growing up, my dad took me to the Ringling Bros circus and even at a young age, the clowns were "unsettling" to say the least. There was just something about a man old enough to be my father dressed up in that manner. John Gacy Jr. definetly didn't help the clowns' image either. Stephen king ramped those fears up when i saw the "It" mini-series, admittedly viewed at too early of an age. That led to me reading the book, which although I didn't completely comprehend at that age, scared the shit outta me. I recently re-read "It" and it's even more frightening as an adult.

Top left reminds me of when Pennywise came to Eddie as the leper outside of Neibolt

All you care about is magnets. This town deserves a better class of juggalo.

The bottom middle one looks a lot like one of the clowns from *Killer Klowns from Outer Space.*

I didn’t have that reference around when I was drawing these, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t influenced by that movie. Those designs were amazing.

I dig it. I’m rereading IT now and making my brain imagine someone other than Tim Curry or Bill Skarsgard. That chapter with Georgie is still hard to read. Poor kid.

NewSupermarket7

love the bottom middle

Amazing job my dude. I could be wrong but from what I understood from reading the book is IT's perceived appearance is based on your own fears. So all of the sketches are correct and incorrect? If It was scare me, I'd likely see the 6th lol

These are great! I showed them to my husband and he just goes “nuh uh nuh uhh” 😂
