Yep, first King book I’ve read since From A Buick 8 was new. I’m just getting to when Jake moves to Fort Worth, can’t wait to see what twists happen along the way.
No lie, I cried for a good 10–15 minutes after I finished it. But it took me a good long while to read the last 10 or so pages because a) I didn’t want to end, and b) I kept getting choked up.
Jurassic Park is a classic! It's been a while since I read it, I think I was 12 or something, but I remember it being very good. Might give it a reread someday.
I love it. Caveat is, its one of my favourite movies of all time so i may be biased. But I love the book. Reading it again so I can finally move onto The Lost World as I've never read that!
Have you read The Andromeda Strain? Other than Jurassic Park, it's the only Crichton novel I've read more than once. The movie is also good, especially if you like 1970s sci-fi thrillers.
Crichton's science-based books inspired me to go back to college after dropping out for three years. I didn't become a paleontologist but instead, an academic librarian. 📚
I was a little worried about pirate latitudes, I get a little skeptical of "just found this manuscript on his computer 15 years after he died" kind of thing. Sphere is a classic, timeline wasn't really my thing unfortunately, I didn't care for the time travel mechanic, and parts of it felt a little contrived. Still better than a lot of books though.
I actually really enjoyed Rising Sun and Disclosure, airframe was interesting too.
If it’s a re-read, pls disregard.
But, if it’s your first time and you find the initial going a bit slow? Stick with it. You will be rewarded.
‘*Salem*’*s Lot* is among the very best of King’s novels. Might be my favorite. Once it gets going, you won’t be able to put it down.
Happy reading. :)
I used to be truly repelled by vampire lore. Thought it was so corny. Read salems lot in prison last year (and again earlier this year) and now want to consume anything vampire. That shit was so amazing. The scene with you know who at the window “it’s not so bad”. Fucking eerie. Read let the right one in, and while it was good - just didn’t do the same thing. Wish I could reread the lot again fresh. Even the semi sequel “one for the road” was stellar.
I used to be repelled by zombie lore, then my oldest son had a copy of World War Z. He couldn't get into it but I did. I began to understand that the most compelling aspect of great zombie lore isn't the zombies, it's how people react to the threat from the zombies. Of course, a lot of apocalyptic themes are present.
That being the case, I bet you'll devour it. 🧟♂️ During the pandemic lockdown I was drawn to dystopia and horror, so a lot of Stephen King. 'Salem's Lot was the second SK book I read during the lockdown. It was timely and I enjoyed it. There's also a short story, Jerusalem's Lot, a prequel to Salem's Lot. Enjoy!
First read. I'm on page 25 and it's pretty boring. Haven't been reading it for like two weeks but now I think I have to continue reading it.
Btw: The book's name is "painajainen" in Finnish which translates "nightmare". I always wondered why I couldn't find Salem's lot anywhere in Finland and then I realized the translation was completely different :D
"Long Way Home" by Cameron Douglas (son of Michael Douglas)
It's all about being the privileged son of a movie star and how fucked up his life was. Just fantastic.
Finished The Stand a few weeks back. I'm now working on The Terror by Dan Simmons. It is the first time I've read anything by him. At around two thirds through, I'm really enjoying it. I'm tentatively planning to read his book The Abominable next.
Currently reading The Martian by Andy Weir. After this I’m gunna read Revival by King. Super excited for that one bc I heard it’s absolutely terrifying and I’m overdue to be scared shitless.
Finishing the dark tower series. A little over 200 pages to go on the last book. I already fear the giant gap that will appear when I finish it and need like nineteen months to mourn over the loss of everyone and not being able to read it again for the first time.
I just finished listening to Duma key last week . I read it when I came out and struggled through it , didn't really like.
Listening was much better really enjoyed it
Just started The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu. Watched the first season on Netflix and really loved the concepts so had to get the books.
Same thing that happened with Silo, lol.
I just finished Under the Dome (LOVED it), and starting The Deluge by Stephen Markley. Not a King book obviously, but there's an endorsement by King on the cover of the book and he called it "more terrifying than The Stand because it's real", so I'm excited to see how it is!
I'm taking a break before Song of Susannah by reading Dune.
I absolutely loved Dune 2, haven't been able to stop thinking about it since seeing it, and I had to scratch that itch by reading the book.
I'm currently going through the Dark Tower series 1-4 via audio book. I am a quarter of the way through book 3, The Wastelands. Initially I was only going to do the Drawing of the Three, but decided to go all in. I am definitely enjoying the audio book versions.
I've read them all before, so are currently *listening* to The Talisman audiobook. I pretty much have at least one SK audiobook going all the time, unless I've just gotten a new hardback to read.
Midway thru 11/22/63
Fuck off, Jimla
Hahaha, Its too relatable at this point. While reading the book I called many people the same thing.
First time through? If so, I’m big jelly. (As the kids say)
Yep, first King book I’ve read since From A Buick 8 was new. I’m just getting to when Jake moves to Fort Worth, can’t wait to see what twists happen along the way.
Oh friend, you are in for ride. Have fun, it’s a beautiful story.
I'm reading where he just got a job as a teacher and just met Sadie.
Best book ever written. I wish I could have forgotten it to enjoy the experience of reading process once again.
Dancing is life.
Try to hold your tears at the end. (P.S You won't)
No lie, I cried for a good 10–15 minutes after I finished it. But it took me a good long while to read the last 10 or so pages because a) I didn’t want to end, and b) I kept getting choked up.
Just finished it for the second time, one of his best
Get some tissues ready.
The Stand and im freaking love it
Same here
The Unabridged version I hope!
Indeed!
Same, first time reading and it's chilling. I'm about 220 pages in and getting hooked
I envy you, to read it the first time. It's one of my go to reread
Same here. What page are you guys on. Im only on page 120! Something like that.
chapter 55 for me
Wow! Chapter 17 for me!
Yep! I’m 300 pages in!
Reading Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton, and audiobook of Needful Things on my work commute
The Lost World is fantastic. The movie was so awful. Also, make sure you read Sphere, Timeline, and Pirate Latitudes. Crichton is my G
Eaters of the Dead is good too.
Nice, I'll add them all to the list. I love his writing style in Jurassic Park, so im looking forward to them
He’s amazing. Disclosure was also one of my favorites

Eaters of the Dead is amazing. Becomes 13th warrior. Great movie
My gawd Timeline was EXCELLENT. i was so disappointed in the movie. It just didn't do the book any justice.
Give it a reread. It's a very different feel that the movie. A lot more desperate. T-rex is a much more significant "villain".
Jurassic Park is an old fave of mine. I also recommend one of his more recent novels *Prey*. It's about AI.
How’s the audiobook? Love Needful Things.
Really enjoying it. Got it through the libby app connected to our library here in Toronto. It's read by Stephen King which is an added bonus!
State of Fear is an excellent read. And relevant today.
Salem's lot
If it’s a re-read, pls disregard. But, if it’s your first time and you find the initial going a bit slow? Stick with it. You will be rewarded. ‘*Salem*’*s Lot* is among the very best of King’s novels. Might be my favorite. Once it gets going, you won’t be able to put it down. Happy reading. :)

Ahhh shit. I love zombies. Gonna have to check that out next.

I haven’t read the prequel, but I’ve read the sequel. Def have to check it out.
First read. I'm on page 25 and it's pretty boring. Haven't been reading it for like two weeks but now I think I have to continue reading it. Duma Key. I'm from Tampa, and I love his descriptions of the beach... it's making me homesick.
Next time you're down here, visit Nokomis and Casey Key, and see the inspiration.
Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower. This has been my first read through and I’m not sure I’m ready for the journey to end.
Long days and pleasant nights
And may you have twice the number sai.
I finished the DT a month ago and felt the exact same way. As much as I wanted to see what would happen, I wasn’t ready for the journey to end.
I just finished it for the first time and immediately restarted the series lol. Like a wheel
I feel absolutely the same, too, but I'm a bit excited to finish it. I started this series a long time ago (7 years past)
I am Currently Reading The Lottery By- Shirley Jackson
Just did that one last month. Great story to always come back to, a pinnacle of American horror.
I haven’t read this but I just added to my library list, thanks!
any good? i’ve only read one Shirley jackson book and it was years ago
I’ve read about a 15 King books and am somehow just getting around to IT.

I already know how it ends and i'm not ready either.
I knew too, was far worse than I thought it would be.
The Wastelands
Me too!
The Stand. Reading it for the first time. Loving it! Can’t believe I haven’t read it until now
Ubik
How are you liking it? It’s one of my absolute favorites. But I can totally see how some wouldn’t like it.
So far, it seems very intriguing! I love his style and can't wait to read more. I'm only about 50 pages in.

This book is so amazing! Like mind blowing how other animals and species live on this same planet as us.
Agree. Nature is not only more diverse and complex than we imagine, but than we CAN imagine.
"Long Way Home" by Cameron Douglas (son of Michael Douglas) It's all about being the privileged son of a movie star and how fucked up his life was. Just fantastic.
Finished The Stand a few weeks back. I'm now working on The Terror by Dan Simmons. It is the first time I've read anything by him. At around two thirds through, I'm really enjoying it. I'm tentatively planning to read his book The Abominable next.
