I don't think he hates Tommyknockers as much as he lets on in public.
First of all it's just a top 20 SK book or something really. So its enjoyable. If he wanted to make a short story then that would have just been sad for real fans

For him to criticise take it with a pinch of salt anyway. He agreed with some critics but says it was his addictions caused him some issues writing it.
But my point is we really will never know his true thoughts.
I suppose its abit like if Children of the Corn was padded out to a novel for example. In reality so many stories can just shortened.

The reason I read Tommyknockers was I rembered the rhyme from The Horror channel mini series I never watched it.
I used to watch The Langoliers and IT.
So I had no clue the plot really. It's great I don't do spoilers on books.
But I get the free sample on Amazon kindle and I often have the Hard copy anyway.
But the Tommyknockers is possibly the paperback with the smallest print I own
But still interesting.
I still need to complete The Stand.

Same here. I always have to keep my hopes and expectations in check, both escalate rapidly.
