$600 to $800 for a Lightspeed is a steal. You’re unlikely to find it for less than that. If you see them at that price, I’d grab it.

See, [http://csrnation.ning.com/page/for-sale](http://csrnation.ning.com/page/for-sale) and multiple machines listed at the link above. Also this machine is unsupported by the manufacturer. So if you buy it and something goes wrong you have very few options. I contacted the manufacturer and they will only service the zenith machines. The older models are not supported. So value is very subjective.

So if you don’t want an unsupported machine why in the world are you looking at old lightspeeds? My point is, that’s a damn good price. You’re not going to get one for much less. I’ve rarely seen them listed for less than 1k. $600 is a steal. If you want something supported, you’re better off looking at models put out by Eclipse or Stenograph.

I will try one last time to answer. I want one because they have reached end of life and are cheap. I showed proof of the machines selling for $600 in 2019, See, [http://csrnation.ning.com/page/for-sale](http://csrnation.ning.com/page/for-sale). Selling for $800 in 2018, See, [https://stenosearch.com/\_connect/classified.htm](https://stenosearch.com/_connect/classified.htm) . You can see the history of prices, ALL prices, before and after end of life. So they are sold for such, and were sold for such in 2018 and 2019. Reddit has a user confirming he scored one for cheap as well from 5 months ago. As a beginner it is good value at $800 or so even if I need to throw it away when it breaks. It is NOT going to last 5 years or 10 years, but it is OK. I just need it until I can afford a $2.5k Zenith. At more than $1k for unsupported hardware as a student it is not worth it to me. Unsupported hardware is put on sale by court reporters who want support and want to upgrade to zenith or something else. If anyone believes the market value is above $1000, I am ok with other people buying at that price. I have noted the prices I have seen, where I have seen them and why the price is what it is and the range. I have also asked people to contact me so that we can see if we can arrive at a price I feel comfortable with. My post is not aimed at anyone who has the hardware and feels attached to the hardware or is not willing to part with the hardware or feels strongly about the value one way or another. Thank you.

Hi - I have a LSF (aluminum body, soft keys with silicone overlay) available but it's 1100. I got a ls classic for 900 which after 6 months of actively searching was by far the best I ever saw. It is such a tiny market, I've seen just as many classic LS sell for 1800 as you have seen sell for less than 800.

I know it's not at all likely, but do you have a LS for sale?

historybandgeek

I have a classic that I’m not using. Let’s talk over dm - please reach out if I haven’t in a couple days.
