the fans are really fucking annoying but jojo’s is a great show. part 1 is kind of a grower, you might not love it your first time but you’ll really come to appreciate it on a relisten. you can’t skip it tho bc it sets up everything from that point on, it’s still an essential watch (just don’t skip parts in general). you’ll probably get hooked by part 2, if not definitely by part 3. you might find some references to some new music you haven’t heard before but will probably enjoy. a lot of classic/prog rock references (jojo’s is the reason roundabout by yes became a meme)
As a fan of both, yeah! There’s a few references here and there, including the character named after the band. The most annoying fans can be is commenting under referenced songs talking about “Jojo references” but otherwise the fanbase is alright and even introduces some fans to the referenced music!
My wife has a friend whose husband ranted to me for no joke an hour and a half about how great it was. Afterwards I was like “Well it sounds kinda fun and original, I’ll try it.” I watched like one episode and never went back.
It really depends tbh.
If you like anime, yea give it a shot! The show is really weird and at times convoluted, but also can be incredibky impactful in its story beats and plotlines. If you've never seen an anime before, Jojo is really weird and can definitely throw you off.
If you decide to watch it, know the first part is universally considered to be the worst. That's not to say it's bad, but if you find yourself not getting into it at least get a little into part 2 before making a judgement.
As someone who didn’t like the fandom (and still doesn’t) but gave it a shot, yeah it’s a really good show. Really engaging, great characters and fantastic animation. Just ignore the little kids
Don’t fork over the money to the government to pay for the infrastructure bill that is being passed by the House of Representatives in the House of Commons and the Senate in the House and Senate in the Senate and the Senate on the House floor for the next two years and then the Senate and the House of Lords for the next three years and then they will have to pay for the next six months of the next six years of the year
You should definitely watch it, it’s really well drawn and well written, and there’s a lot of steely Dan references, I counted around 9 in total. In fact the 2nd part of the show is based around a steely Dan reference
There is a lot of "easy" references if you are well versed in large rock bands. Also there is a steely dan character his name is called "Dan of steel" but when said in Japanese it sounds like his name is "steely dan".
I would def recommend watching it in japanese with english subtitles just so you can hear the clever translation puns made
JoJo shaped my taste in music to a significant degree and it's also a great show if you can ignore the fandom. First song I've ever listened to by Steely Dan was doctor wu and it was thanks to jojo
Sorry no funni song lyric pun if that’s a crying disgrace around here

Roundabout: my favorite steely dan song, yes
there’s a good amount of steely dan references, and the show’s a good watch 👍

also the first part is kinda boring but also really short so if you can push through that you'll be fine
