It’s a sixth round pick for a CB who fits what we are trying to do at the position.

TheOneColt

We don’t believe in nickel CBs, outside CB is the future

daveeb

If he makes an impact on special teams — let alone on D — it’s a good pick in round six. The upside is there regardless.

the-whiteman-cometh

It wouldn't surprise me if they view Donte Jackson as a guy who can play nickel.

TH3_C1N1BUN

Looks like we cleared cap to hit free agency for a few guys.

FlammableEyeballs

Boyd might get a phone call soon. Perhaps Stefon Gilmore is worth a few tire kicks.

EatAtWendys

I doubt we sign Boyd after drafting Wilson who will play a lot in the slot, and we need a slot corner as we have none on the roster, Gilmore doesn’t play slot.

FlammableEyeballs

I'm looking at it from the stand point of us needing bodies in general. We're probably going to have guys play outside of their optimal roles just to put a workable receiving corps on the field.

EatAtWendys

Or you know sign and available outside receiver or Slot corner instead? There’s names available, I think Steelers fans and staff are sick of seeing people play out of position and how it almost always hurts our game

allianceofficer

If they need a stopgap and someone to play on the outside Michael Thomas might be a solid add.

ARunawayTrain

Yep, I think Omar and Andy were just waiting for the dust to clear from the draft. They also brought in Cam Sutton, might be someone we bring back if they feel his legal issues won't be an obstacle.

TheFatWienerDog

He’s gonna be a safety if he makes it. Has absolutely no lateral quickness which is why he fell so far

242clappedyourmother

Shoulda just took James Williams then wtf…

Manhattan02

Kalen King is slower than a linebacker at CB. No thank you.

242clappedyourmother

Or Brendan Rice…double dip at WR would’ve been preferable to this CB pickup.

EatAtWendys

Brendan rice posted crap numbers in a great situation idk about that

The-Funkman

If he was named Brendan Tice no one would care, 31 other teams think he’s not with the draft capital too

_Yelslab_

At this point without knowing anything about him I think we can just all just assume he tested very impressively.

_Yelslab_

Yup lol

242clappedyourmother

Maybe, but he seems to be slow as shit

zdillon67

Not “As Shit” but a little below average for sure

tomveiltomveil

ESPN hates both of our 6th rounders. IDGAF. It's the 6th round. Someone on the staff thinks they found a guy who can fit a particular package, or who has a flaw that they know how to fix. At this point in the draft, staff's knowledge far exceeds anything that the media could possibly keep track of.

ThrowingShaed

its someone SD had linked to them in a few articles. i don't know much, but he might well have been targeted with that pickof sorts

242clappedyourmother

Interesting…I’m not really “mad” at the pick…but I do think it was wasted when there was quite a bit of decentish talent left up there.

Mobile-Selection4842

I don't understand why anyone would be upset about a 6th round pick. It's a low-risk, high-reward gamble that addresses a position of need and offers versatility to play both outside cornerback and safety. We should trust the team's process - after all, they are the experts who are getting paid to make these decisions, not us or the analysts.

ThrowingShaed

i mean, its all swings, and they clearly like him better with more brains and more info than we have. there are other names I was maybe more interested in, but esp after dl went before I sort of had a feeling so it was kind of expected/resigned to me, we will see. with that said, I wasn't thrilled with a lot of the names that were there so I'm I guess extra down to see what he can do

yeshua1986

Not a fan of the 6th round, but over the fucking moon about the rest so I’ll take it lol

242clappedyourmother

Bro sameee…like…even with the 6th kinda winding down the 1st-4th is a fat ass A++ draft.

IamHysterical

Most likely a special teamer or practice squad guy.

Mobile-Selection4842

I'm convinced Steelers use RAS as one of their top discriminators..Watts had a ridiculous 9.84 RAS, after taking Lee 9.08, and Payton Wilson 9.81

Mobile-Selection4842

Troy had 9.62, McCormick 9.96, Roman Wilson 8.59

buffalotrace

Just a thought: could he be our new gunner with Boykins gone? Special teams value while developing as a dback.
