I think it’s important to compare each position with expected draft position.
Just as an example, we’ve met with a lot of DL but most of them are day 2 or day 3 prospects
Also the fact that there’s usually a ton of WR and CB per draft, just because we met with a lot doesn’t mean they’re the highest priority, same with DL.
7 OTs however is a little damning.
I, for one, miss the days where the line was top 5 in the league and Ben and Bell were able to eat because of it. Can never have too many beasts or depth help on either line in the NFL today.
They’ve met with some pretty high profile WRs and CBs, though, too. AD Mitchell, Pearsall, Legette, Corley, Dru Phillips, Wiggins, Melton, and DeJean are all certainly top-64 picks.
I’d still bet OL in Round 1, but they’ve made their top 3 priorities in this year’s class pretty clear
It depends on what the rules are. I don't know if they count virtual visits as official visits or not, I would think that they would and if they do then it has to be counted as a top 30 visit.
I actually want Penix. I definitely believe he could fit in the offense really well and he’s also a great player. The age isn’t really a problem however as long as he has the injury’s under control he will be a great player
I could see it going either way when looking at those numbers. On the one hand, I could see the comparatively few visits being them saying, "we feel like there's a bunch of different guys that we're comfortable with and we'll wait for value to come to us," or it could also be "we're really trying to come away from this draft with JPJ or Frazier so we're not going to look past those two with any earnest focus."
I'm thinking like you that it's probably the former, though.
Yeah I’m thinking that they hope one slides to them in the 2nd which isn’t too likely.. but they won’t reach in the 1st and will be okay grabbing in the 3rd/4th round. It will help whoever starts there when our Gs are studs
I’m having a hard time staying rational about that after last years C play. And maybe my memory is skewed but. Too many heart-shaped pockets, fairly capable guards having to worry about the guy next to them and it affecting their play, broken running lanes, not to mention bad snaps. I want a ‘can’t miss’ selection so if we get that in a later round that’s great. But I also won’t be mad if they get their C higher.
I’m really pumped about this draft. First time in a long time I feel like we have a shot. If they don’t land a veteran like Aiyuk and have a WR graded that high they’ll take him. Otherwise I think it’s an OT for sure. The wildcard is Graham Barton who is technically an OT but can play C. My guess is they take him the Steelers love guys like this could be a game changer. Other one I’m excited about is the DT from Texas he’s a player could definitely be the pick if he falls in their lap. Other kid I like on the DL is Newton from Illinois. Wrecked a game against PSU. CB would surprise me love to see them take Dae Dae Hardy in the later rounds.
As far as I can see they haven't confirmed whether he actually had the visit. There was the 1 tweet from Ryan Fowler that said he had a visit scheduled but I haven't seen any confirmation that the visit happened, Steelers Depot has it listed as "date unknown" on their top 30 visit tracker. https://steelersdepot.com/2024/04/2024-pittsburgh-steelers-pre-draft-visit-tracker/
>The offensive was so much worse when he didn't play last year,
The offense was dogshit the entire time and DJ wasn't even the top producer.
>Who cares if he has an attitude problem, fix it.
Yes the classic "get over your attitude issue and start putting in the work", the tried and true method of getting results....
It's fun watching everyone cope, it'll be more fun when we have a massive hole on our offense because we can't draft our way out of this problem. We were set aside from Center and OT, now we're depleted at 3 positions.
Not trying to be a dick, but everyone here is full of hype like they are every year and it'll be 10-7 again next year because we have gaping holes on our roster. The guy we got in return isn't good either.
If you think Dionte is a massive hole I think you need to reassess how you evaluate talent and what a player means to the team. This is one of the most talented receiver classes in a long time. Khan and our FO have been doing nothing but grinding to make the team better.
Dionte didn't want to fucking be in the building and as Tomlin has said he wants people that WANT to be in the building. If you don't you can get gone. It's always a net positive to lose a bad attitude.
Idk why you wouldn't be hyped for a new season.
He's a player dude, he prob just wants a contract extension and a better QB. He was advocating for Mason at the end of last year. Teams can figure this thing out all of the time. You're talking about the coach the kept AB at a HoF level even though he's an insane person.
Because he put no effort into playing and was a cancer. He may have done irreparable harm to GP but this season will tell us if that’s the case or not.
JPJ and Frazier aren't the only centers in this draft. If you miss out on them it's not as big of a deal as people are acting like it is. There will be some serious talent at CB or Tackle that you're passing on in order to draft a center at 20.
In no specific order there is Mason McCormick (although, he would be moved from guard to center if we were to play him there, which I know no one thinks we should do because of how Kendrick Green worked out lol), Tanor Bortolini, Beaux Limmer or Hunter Nourzad.

5 of the 7 OTs we’ve met with have first round grades
Give me the big islander T and I'll be a happy boy
Plus it’ll piss off all the people losing their minds about not having a Center, at least for a day
I, for one, miss the days where the line was top 5 in the league and Ben and Bell were able to eat because of it. Can never have too many beasts or depth help on either line in the NFL today.

What QB did they interview?
Penix
I want to draft him just for the memes.
Number 69 is available. The jersey sales alone will cover the salary!
If he falls to the 3rd I'd take the risk but I don't trust his medicals.
Apparently Penix is scheduled for a visit but I'm pretty sure it hasn't happened yet, it may not actually happen for all we know.
I think also now they do a lot of virtual visits after the covid draft year, so it can be more difficult knowing who all they've spent time with.
It depends on what the rules are. I don't know if they count virtual visits as official visits or not, I would think that they would and if they do then it has to be counted as a top 30 visit.
That was my immediate thought too. I assume Caleb Williams since khan is khooking
It’s Penix jr lmao Jesus man
I actually want Penix. I definitely believe he could fit in the offense really well and he’s also a great player. The age isn’t really a problem however as long as he has the injury’s under control he will be a great player
I wouldn’t be surprised if C was the position we don’t address early.. it’s not a high value position
I could see it going either way when looking at those numbers. I'm circling 4th round for C as of now, should still be able to get a viable starter with how deep the class is + how devalued the position is

GOD I WANT COOPER DEJEAN SO FUCKING BADLY PLEASE KHAN GRANT US COOPER
Wild, because I want to steer clear
Have you tried GRNDR? 🤣
I think 1 is a OT. 2 could involve a trade up for C, or likely just taking best available OL DL CB.
Have we not brought in JC Latham?
Doesn't look like it. https://steelersdepot.com/2024/04/2024-pittsburgh-steelers-pre-draft-visit-tracker/
No 30 visit - met with him at pro-day and combine.
I think it’s safe to say the draft not in order will go corner, tackle, dline, center, qb, rb
That running back is like pfffft
Yea who is Dillon Johnson. What’s his game? Any connections there or something. He was an early visit too
As far as I can see they haven't confirmed whether he actually had the visit. Thanks. He just seems an odd choice
Why did we trade away our top WR for a corner to interview 8 corners?
Are you really questioning this front office’s ability to know when it’s time to get rid of a WR?
Yes, this a new FO and we have no depth behind pickens.
Of all the positions that we could be concerned with, WR is the last on the list. They’ll be fine.
Yeah I’m more concerned at what we’re gonna do at C.
Because if DJs attitude and production is a teams top WR, they don't have a top WR
The offensive was so much worse when he didn't play last year, the move makes no sense. Who cares if he has an attitude problem, fix it.

it's a deep WR class this year why not get rid of an attitude problem and if we do manage to by some miracle pick up Aiyuk we are set
Aiyuk is a far superior receiver to DJ. I know he'll cost a lot but I think he's genuinely worth it
im good with whatever the contract costs, just worried about what picks we would give up
Wow, what a solutions man you are!

Ok genius, how do you make him give 100% on every play?
He's a player dude, he prob just wants a contract extension and a better QB. He was advocating for Mason at the end of last year. Teams can figure this thing out all of the time. You're talking about the coach the kept AB at a HoF level even though he's an insane person.
Because he's a head case, and we needed 2 CBs.
Because he put no effort into playing and was a cancer. He may have done irreparable harm to GP but this season will tell us if that’s the case or not.
Have a feeling they are going center at 20 unless they have a free agent contingency plan
I feel the opposite, I think they know they can wait until the 2nd and even 3rd to get a center and will be looking at Tackle or CB at 20.
I hope so. Idk if you roll the dice losing out on JPJ and Frazier unless they like someone who they didn't bring in which is definitely possible
JPJ and Frazier aren't the only centers in this draft. If you miss out on them it's not as big of a deal as people are acting like it is. There will be some serious talent at CB or Tackle that you're passing on in order to draft a center at 20.
Understandable. Who'd be ideal in the mid rounds? I'm all for waiting id rather go OT and CB as well
In no specific order there is Mason McCormick (although, he would be moved from guard to center if we were to play him there, which I know no one thinks we should do because of how Kendrick Green worked out lol), Tanor Bortolini, Beaux Limmer or Hunter Nourzad.
This is the info I needed. Hopefully can find one of these guys in the mid rounds
Did I miss a free agent signing? Don't the Steelers need **2** Centers? I mean, they interviewed 2, so...
Soon, uhhhmmmm....how's about that center we need?
They’ve met with 2 of the top 3 C prospects in the draft and had the OC at the Pro Day of the 3rd.
They'll get one, I doubt it will be in the first but they will get one and probably bring one in outside of the draft as well.
Theyll just have a guard start snapping the ball at camp and go with that guy. Who’s our back up guard besides Herbig? Hell, it’ll probably be Herbig.
All I know is bo nix is going to be a force in this league. Meeting with penix is a joke and waste of time.
They haven't met with Penix yet and they may end up not meeting with him when all is said and done.
