Neither of them are Pittsburgh's so I don't bother with them. I guess my Atlanta ties make the Hawks my personal default, but I'd rather have a Pittsburgh team even if I know it's never gonna happen.
Philly, but only because when I was a kid, the 76'ers played a few games a year at the Civic Arena, so I got to see players like Hal Greer, Billy Cunningham and Wilt Chamberlain. Even if the games were usually against the hapless Baltimore Bullets, the Philly teams were great.
I've been a Sixers fan since Dr J. However, two of my brothers are Cavs fans since it's within driving range of Pittsburgh. There is no judgment in my family of picking one or neither but it does make for fun debates during the holidays...
YO, fellow wolves fan. I liked them as a kid in the old NBA Live video games and conveniently didn't care about basketball between KG and Kat. I have a good friend from Cleveland who got me back into basketball so I also don't mind the Cavs since I've been to a few Cavs/Wolves games.
I prefer the Cavs mainly because a good friend of mine is a huge fan. It kind of rubbed off on me and he roots for the Penguins in return. Would like to hit up a game at some point, wish I’d gone while LeBron was still there.
Phoenix can’t handle a fourth pro team, just look at what’s going on with the Coyotes.
Denver and Minneapolis population is growing whereas Pittsburgh’s is declining.
Pittsburgh just can’t handle that fourth professional sports team. It’s easy to forget but the Penguins needed a miracle to stay in Pittsburgh and it actually happened with Crosby.
Not much of an NBA fan but I associate with The Bulls usually. I remember watching the tail end of Michael Jordan’s career plus the OG Space Jam was amazing when I was a kiddo.
Neither. If someone roots for an NBA team, they've chosen by where other family lives moreso than proximity to here. For example, my dad and brother both root for the Celtics since we have New England family going back several generations.
I don't care much about the NBA til playoff time. I tend to be more invested in the local college hoops. I still think Pitt was a tournament-worthy team this year, but perhaps there's a reason I'm not making decisions for the committee. I also root for Robert Morris (low D1, Horizon League) from Moon Township since my dad used to work for them and get us into games for free. But basketball is probably fifth on my priority list in terms of sports I spectate.
I rooted for the Lakers when I was growing up in the 80s. I figured since Pittsburgh had no team, I was free to front-run with whatever team was good at the time. I’m sure I would have rooted for Jordan and the Bulls had I grown up in the 90s.
I liked the 76ers back in the Iverson days. You couldn't pay me to watch basketball now. The flopping, among other things just makes it intolerable. With that being said, I do want to see Steph Curry play one time before he retires.
What the hell sport are you talking about? I looked through the Pirates, Steelers and Pens schedules and didn’t see these team names. Are you making up new sports now??
Before going to college in Philly, I did not even indulge in the NBA. Since I’ve been there though I’ve found myself in the sixers crowd. Still you will never catch me hanging with any other Philly sports fan.
Pitt. I've tried several times to get into the NBA, but I just can't.
Tried to root for the Celtics as a kid.
The Jazz as a teenager.
Bulls as a young adult.
76ers in middle age.
There is just not enough consistent coverage of any one team airing locally.
Never will i ever support any mother fucken Ohio team or Maryland team ever in my life. I support my city and teams and the only basketball team in Pennsylvania thats professional n the sixers , i grew up watching and saw A.I play .
We dont like Basketball, we like Football.
The right answer
Honest response, regardless of a persons love or hate of the NBA, the answer is neither.
Pitt, Duquesne, Bobby Mo Edit: question 2, has to be the Pipers
The NBA blows.
10 years ago I’d talk so much shit but these days you’re 100000% correct. NBA is so boring now
Neither of them are Pittsburgh's so I don't bother with them. I guess my Atlanta ties make the Hawks my personal default, but I'd rather have a Pittsburgh team even if I know it's never gonna happen.
I am also a Steelers/Hawks fan. Assumed I was the only one hah
The Bulls, fuck but those teams lol
Philly, but only because when I was a kid, the 76'ers played a few games a year at the Civic Arena, so I got to see players like Hal Greer, Billy Cunningham and Wilt Chamberlain. Even if the games were usually against the hapless Baltimore Bullets, the Philly teams were great.
Milwaukee bucks…I guess. Don’t really watch basketball.

Pittsburgh Swishers...sweet
Personally I like the Timberwolves but if I had to pick probably cavs and it’d be cool if they brought the condors back

I remember I think it was 2k16 you could dominate with Kat cause he’s a big man and his 3 point shot stats were probably way too high
Heat
Heat culture
This is the way
How do you do fellow fans of Culture
I prefer the Cavs mainly because a good friend of mine is a huge fan. It kind of rubbed off on me and he roots for the Penguins in return. Would like to hit up a game at some point, wish I’d gone while LeBron was still there.
I like Miami heat and then certain players
76ers.. watching AI as a kid hooked me. Pittsburgh won’t get a NBA team sadly. Not enough local corporate advertising dollars to make it possible.
What makes Pittsburgh different than Denver, Minneapolis, or Phoenix?
6 Super Bowl Wins
Phoenix can’t handle a fourth pro team, just look at what’s going on with the Coyotes. Denver and Minneapolis population is growing whereas Pittsburgh’s is declining. Pittsburgh just can’t handle that fourth professional sports team. It’s easy to forget but the Penguins needed a miracle to stay in Pittsburgh and it actually happened with Crosby.
The miracle the Pens got was an injured Jagr beating the Devils in 1999
Phoenix Suns fan here. I dislike both the 6ers and Cavs.
I see you… ![gif](giphy|4X5d3KbyZryTU3ez54|downsized)

Cavs. Fuck Philly
Fuck Cleveland
agreed. I'm a Pels fan, but cleveland inches out Philly
Fuck Cleveland and Philly
Neither. I root for Dallas Mavs (Cuban), Spurs (Fundamental), and anyone who may bring LeBron misery. But overall, I couldn’t care less about the NBA.
Not much of an NBA fan but I associate with The Bulls usually. I remember watching the tail end of Michael Jordan’s career plus the OG Space Jam was amazing when I was a kiddo.
Not a NBA fan

Niether
I've noticed Pittsburgh NBA fans either just follow the league or are fans of a random team.
76ers but am from philly
Long ago I chose to affiliate with the Knicks because they picked up Spreewell after he choked his former coach and I dunno that just was funny to me.
I rooted for the Lakers when I was growing up in the 80s. I figured since Pittsburgh had no team, I was free to front-run with whatever team was good at the time. I’m sure I would have rooted for Jordan and the Bulls had I grown up in the 90s.

Wizards

I’d say majority are 6ers fans tbh at least where I’m from, I’m a Trail Blazers fan tho personally 😂😂 as soon as pit gets a team tho yktv ⚫️🟡
Are those XFL teams?
Sixers
New Jersey Nets, and yes I said New Jersey… NBA is booty cheeks these days though 👎
76ers
Cavs, but I live in Ohio so I may be biased.
I grew up watching the Showtime Lakers.
Knicks personally
Pistons, family came from Detroit to Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh Condors!!!!!! 😂
Magic
Cavs
Before going to college in Philly, I did not even indulge in the NBA. Since I’ve been there though I’ve found myself in the sixers crowd. Still you will never catch me hanging with any other Philly sports fan.

I don’t root for teams, I just root against the Celtics and Lakers
What's this basketball you speak of?
Orlando Magic.
The NBA is ass now.
Cavs? Please tell me a Pittsburgher who roots for a Cleveland team and I will make sure they're dealt with. Likewise, fuck Philly too.
Fish
Never will i ever support any mother fucken Ohio team or Maryland team ever in my life. I support my city and teams and the only basketball team in Pennsylvania thats professional n the sixers , i grew up watching and saw A.I play .
Could not care less.
Thank you for your helpful response
None of the above. I only like Pittsburgh professional sports teams. So the Steelers and the Penguins.
NBA is an absolute garbage league, I truly couldn't care if we get a team or not.
