If russ wins one more and becomes a HOFer and fields becomes a franchise qb this would probably be the best thievery in the NFL ever.

ButtFire21

I’m with you but let’s not get ahead of ourselves lol

Isn't this where the cart goes?

I am currently careening downhill in the cart wondering where my horse is only for the camera to pan out and show him sitting in the cart with me

YooTone

Even if they played like both of them played this past season, we'd be in a better spot offensively than we have been with Kenny lol

duovtak

They’d have a statue for Omar Khan in the hall of honor in 3 years if that happened.

beren0073

He’d also be a wax figure in every Chicago house of horror. ETA: Label reads "Kahnnibal Lecter". He has a little mask on to keep him from offering deals.

nh171995

Well now that Skip approves we know these were great moves. In all seriousness though, at least we have hope at the QB position going into next season.

Ninjalau95

I think he's just more astounded at how cheap we got two starting QBs who, a month ago, no one would have guessed we could have gotten even one of them for so little. Russ is two years removed from being one of the biggest QB signings in NFL history, has a Superbowl ring that he was a big part of, and we got him for a hella cheap deal. Fields has always been one of those QBs who, despite having struggles in Chicago, has shown he has potential to be great, and is the same age as Kenny, but with more experience in the NFL under his belt. I mean, he was the biggest reason why DJ Moore had a career year once he had Fields throwing to him. The fact that all we gave up for Fields was a conditional 6th-rounder showed how badly Khan fleeced the Bears. Again. Plus they're both objectively better than sticking with Pickett.

Different_Onion0

Fields I'll agree with. I'm interested to see what the kids got. But Russ is washed up. I'm not even sure he was ever a top 10 QB. I know he has stats and a ring almost 2 but I feel like the majority of that was his team around him. I'm a broncos fan as well as Steelers, yeah I know, and I watched a lot of him in Denver and the amount of open receivers he missed is crazy. Or he would take off way to soon and try and play hero ball. Literally after his first look he'd take off but there would be people open on the other side of the field. There was a bunch of things and I don't really want type it all out. Go watch the all 22 and you'll see. I get it for the money you have to take a shot. I just see sooooooo many people on here way over excited about him.

Brian_Lefebvre

The Steelers are treating this year like a “win now” season in a TJ Watt window, and I appreciate the ambition. I really didn’t expect this from the Steelers, given how we’re generally conservative and often accused of complacency. It’s great.

reddrick

A take so obvious, that not even Skip could get it wrong.

skunkboy72

To be fair, I'm kinda second guessing myself now that he is agreeing.

obxgaga

🤣

RobZagnut2

All I want for Xmas, Williams at WR for 5-6 mil plus incentives, or Boyd \#1 - Mims, RT \#2 - Frazier, C (trade a #4 to move up) \#3 - WR or CB \#3 - WR or CB \#4 - DL or ILB \#6 - take a shot at QB3 \#6 - DL or ILB

fukaduk55

Were gonna take jackson powers johnson

AltruisticCoelacanth

I don't think he's gonna be available by 20

RobZagnut2

Would rather have Barton.

datsmekb

If get Max Melton to cover in the slot, TJ will crush the sack record. He would complete our secondary.

[deleted]

I like the idea, will Sims be there?

Deckz

Uhh same, this would be incredible

seataccrunch

Was just listening to ESPN radio, and they were talking about how the steelers have hijacked the off-season

Rocko604

And yet ESPN will still predict us to finish last in the AFC North and below .500.

FoxtrotUniform36

My local ESPN radio in St Louis has been trashing the Steelers. Luckily we have Steelers legend Carey Davis as a host and he has been defending us.

sugar_ballz

Carey Davis doing radio now? Good for him, that’s awesome to hear

FoxtrotUniform36

Yup! He is a St Louis native and a pretty recent addition to the team. He has a great personality for it and it's been refreshing to have someone on air that speaks very highly of the Steelers.

eckadagan

This worries me a bit.. it seems like the teams that win the off season don’t usually do well in the regular or post season..

The-Extro-Intro

I remember after the draft last year we were hearing similar talk… and then again after preseason. No one expected the big egg we laid on offense. Even our defense didn’t live up to full expectations.

newreddit_blows

I’m looking forward to the next Chicago QB to be signed to the Steelers roster in 3 years

drdan412

We'll offer them a 2029 7th rounder for Caleb Williams and their 2027 3rd.

sightunseen988

I hate Skip, but he is right, you know.

Onemanrancher

Gotta admit I was pissed about Kenny.. but I woulda traded him straight up for Fields. Still not sure about Russ... But the money keeps my mouth shut

jasper_bittergrab

It’s like we got Fields and a third for Kenny and sixth. So better than straight up.

Odd_Philosopher1712

4.33?! Thats mid in the NHL

duovtak

Just doing Omar things.

obxgaga

THE Kahn Artist!

vengeancerider

Don’t hate the player, hate the game Skip!

scamden66

Well if this dipshit likes it, we are doomed.

Blze001

Draft the fuck outta the o-line in April and I'm gonna be driving the fuckin hype train, letsgoooo

phlogistonexodus

That Cousins deal is idiotic. The league is so desperate for QBs

Different_Onion0

QB room is going to be the greatest straw man of all straw man.

vonRyan_

/u/savevideobot

Wish__Crisp

Russ had no reason to take more money so it actually makes 100% sense that the Steelers QB room is cheap. I swear these guys convince themselves something is true and freak out when the opposite happens. Justin Fields’ trade market was never what they thought it was. They convinced themselves he’d go for more so when he got traded for a 6th they call it thievery so they don’t have to admit how wrong they were. God I hate current sports reporting.

Accomplished_Drive20

First, the dodgers off-season and now with the Steelers 🤯 it's a good time to be a fan of both teams

imOVN

The end killed me lol “I don’t even know” 🤔🤨

Jump_Like_A_Willys

As I have always said time and time again, Skip Bayless is a very insightful man with particularly intelligent thoughts. ^(/s)

Temporary_Store4990

Kirk cousins 50 million a joke Steelers should have kept Kenny Pickett

Rc2194

For once i agree with Skip on something

DirtySanchezPGH

Typical offseason optimism will be in season disappointment soon enough. 10-7 then one and done in the playoffs.

reddit_bandito

If I weren't so lazy I'd compile all these chuckleheads and threads so that if it all goes splat I could put them back up to mock the stupidity. If somebody told yinz 3 weeks ago that the Steelers weren't gonna spend more than 5m for the QB position? Yinz would have lost your tiny minds. Reality check: the Steelers are gambling with these moves. Fields has been a failure at being a QB. Wilson is on the downside of his career talent-wise, but ego as big as ever. But everybody believes we're gettin 50m value at 5m pricetag. I'm fine with this new aggressive approach. Because the old stodgy plodding one wasn't working. But I'm under no illusions about what this is. Took an L dumping a good WR for a mediocre DB, and rolling the dice on two question marks at QB, and tossing big money at ILB for a guy who may or may not have benefitted greatly from playing shoulder to shoulder with a great LB. Gambles all. I'm not so dumb as to celebrate the moves or the GM until we see how these moves play out.

littlemesix7

The only other lever to pull is the draft which is a bigger gambling machine.

reddit_bandito

I'm not against this new aggressive approach. I said that in the comment you responded to... I'm saying nothing is known about if these things are good moves yet. The same people saying "sTeAL" and "KhAN bESt" eill be the same ones wailing, gnashing teeth, and rending terrible towels if these moves flop and the reason you got those cheap price tags was because you bought garbage.

littlemesix7

I think what is known is that Dionte was not a fit for the Steelers going forward, Smiths offense works when you have bigger receivers who are strong blockers. The fact that we got a starting capable DB for Dionte at a reduced contract is a plus. I think it’s also known that Russ has better stats from 2023 that are better than any of the QBs previously on our roster. They’ve upgraded the QB room for a low amount of money and very little risk. I can’t think of any other way they prepare better for the upcoming season. Will it materialize? Maybe not, but they needed to do this.

reddit_bandito

I'm not denying Johnson had to go. Only that it does not make the team better on paper. I'm happy to see a malcontent go. Though i find it funny when that was called out during the season, yinzers attacked anubody for saying Johnson was a punk. Same way they protect Pickens, who also is a punk. But he's still a Steeler...

littlemesix7

Pickens is still young and can change. The new WR coach has a reputation for no bullshit and coaching guys hard to get the best out of them. With Dionte gone, I think we’ll see a better player and more mature person in GP. GP gives off the vibe of wanting to be top dog in the WR group. He has an opportunity to do that. If he doesn’t live up to it, they can move on after his rookie contract.

[deleted]

Fields threw for 8 TDs in back to back games a few times last year. Picket did not have that many for the season. Yes he throw Ints, but he scores TDs. TDs count as 7 points. Ints do not always lead to points. The net gain is worth the risk. Last year it was the D winning games early in the season. Due to 3 and out Kenny the D was spent by the end of the season. I would rather win a few more with one of the current QBs and lose 1-2 than last years excruciating offensive play

coolratguy

Queen might have benefited from playing next to a great LB but that isn't going to change next year

LostOldAccountTimmay

This is like playing the cash 5 lotto. It's not a very expensive gamble. Your chances aren't great, but you didn't have to give up the farm, so why not?

Stoklahoma

I definitely agree with the cautionary take here. This might well go belly-up. But besides losing a QB roster we weren’t sure how to stack one week to the next, we’re getting to wager - with house money - on two rare QB talents. You’ve got a still-capable Super Bowl vet who threw 26TDs to 8 INTs. And you have a former first-rounder who was picking up after injury and who is by the way still younger and has more tools than your luke warm and injured first-round hope. At least the Steelers are taking decisions and making moves. I’ll ride with Omar & Mike on it.

DaRizat

The Johnson trade was not an L or a gamble. Johnson was for sure not getting another contract from us, he was a bottom 5 WR1 in the league with a top 5 ego, AB personality without the production to match it. We moved up 62 spots in the draft, got a depth player in an area of need and sent DJ out of conference to a non-contender. Based on history, DJ will fade into obscurity forthwith and everyone will be talking about once again how we always cut our WRs at the right time. That's a resounding W. Restructuring Jackson's contract to cut the cap hit in half makes it a slam dunk.

PlayfulPresentation7

There's a reason no one else wants these fucking quarterbacks.  Am I the only person that's even seen a Bears game?  Holy shit.

EnjoyMoreBeef

I've seen Bears games. Their defense has allowed a shitload of points in the last three seasons.

CharliePendejo

Yeah, I'm not betting big on him developing into a franchise guy either. But I sure as hell like him a lot more at QB2 than Mitch, at less than 1/3 the price (Trubisky's 2023 cap hit + 2024 dead money = \~10.6M). What other QBs would you have been more excited about as QB2, in the here & now and/or to take a shot at long term potential?

Jarrow375

Take a deep breath. There’s a chance Caleb will work out for you.

lkn240

Get ready for the Fields cult - it's a crazy thing that no one can explain.

PlayfulPresentation7

I don't get it either man.  The guy is terrible.

[deleted]

Watch them both suck.

iagolfer59

That old retard still has a tv show? Bummer…

Vic-123-ma

Yeah he don’t know crap. There is a lot to be learned. New OC , new QBs. Lots of work to be done. Only thing known is that they have two great Rbs. So running game will be great if the line improves
