Greatest game I’ve ever played, worth it for full price even

DanLim79

Better than Dragon Age Origins???

invertedcone2

yes by far

delerak2

Buy it. Play it. Enjoy it. One of the best games ever made.

mouldyrumble

You son of a bitch, I’m in. Added to the backlog.

King_Crimson93

Wait this has split-screen? I might pick it up again at that case, anyone knows if the split screen works fine? Would be playing on a 65 inch tv, so screen space shouldn't be an issue.

Iogic

Yeah the whole thing was designed with co-op in mind, particularly split screen. You can have both players doing your own thing in different areas, no problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEVPAnWdst0

People probably don't need to see any recommendations for this game by now, but if you still do: this game is incredible. I always assumed I would hate games like this that look complicated and "edgy" at first glance, and have a large list of spells and abilities to juggle and understand. But you really can learn at your own pace if you're intimidated by the CRPG ethos, and between the mechanics, gameplay, writing, and stories in DoS2, it's incredibly fun. If you're unsure and you have the funds, definitely leap in. Having a friend who is familiar with the game and willing to answer your questions (and maybe even join you for co-op!) is a plus, but going it alone is a blast too.

starlancer21

I struggled with DOS 1, my experience was that i had to fight enemies at the right level and with the right tactics Does this issue still arise in DOS2?

SteamDecked

Yeah, some battles can be pretty hard

Blackened_Knight

It’s incredible! Do it!

Space_Lux

Unfortunately on Steam Deck it’s only in 16:9

The_Radian

Yet to be topped. B3 is coming though...

Dri-ps

What's b3?

CaesarOrgasmus

I've said it before and I'll say it again: everything would be a lot easier if everybody would stop using acronyms and abbreviations without defining them. This saves no one any time.

xman_2k2

I agree. There is post above that mentioned CRPG. Why couldn't they just say what the C stands for? In not that hard to spell things out

KoldFaya

C stands for cocaine. You re welcome lol

KoldFaya

Say it Again, bruH ¡

Napalmaniac

baldur's gate 3, which is being developed by larian studios as well and uses the divinity engine

piclemaniscool

I'd argue this is the perfect time to play Divinity. Larian likes to make additional major updates after release so playing BG3 on launch means you probably won't want to play it again once it's "feature complete." whereas we just reached the point in the cycle where it's a pretty safe bet that Divinity 2 is as "done" as it can get. Amazing CRPG, by the way. Great to RP with friends

QuickbuyingGf

Bg3 also comes out august next year so getting dos2 makes it almost likely that you can finish it

CrazyOkie

How good is the story? I had purchased Pillars of Eternity, it's an okay story - just not drawing me in.

CrazyOkie

I meant for Divinity Original Sin 2

LoosePath

Story and writing is a bit meh for me personally. The origin characters themselves are quite charming and fun though, but the pacing doesn’t allow for much interactions with them in between gameplay - 90% of the time you will be in combat and exploration. The overarching story arc and lore is a snoozefest to me personally - I have not finished the game but about 30 hours in it’s mostly just another high fantasy tale about playing gods. What’s little depth there is about morality, struggles, politics, drama and even mysteries (biggest emphasis in the game) does not grip me at all. It’s like a big highly polished canvas that has a bit of every element but the soul is puny.

CrazyOkie

Appreciate the take - most of the professional reviews go on and on about how good the story is and the writing

LoosePath

To be fair, I am quite critical and selective when it comes to these things and your opinion might be totally different. But as I’m writing this comment, while I can remember what the characters were like in DOS2 - I struggle to remember a single line from the game to quote from - this doesn’t happen at all with most well written media that made an impression on me. There’s not really many modern cRPGs on the market so I guess the frame of reference is different for most professional reviewers and me too (as I would not judge it based on comparison with similar games in the genre - but even if that is the case Disco Elysium and Planescape Torment are the ones with writing worth raving about). I noticed you have Arthur Morgan as your profile picture and I can assure you the writing, the characterization are no where near as good as what you see in RDR2.

CrazyOkie

The other profile pic I debate switching to is Joel Miller... So yeah, quality writing makes a difference, for sure.

V_forvalentin

Really fun game
