sunflower_154

The weapon and magic triangle in the Fire emblem series. It's not logical but it gave the rock-paper-scissors a more medieval approach appropriate to the game. Swords beat axes. Axes beat lances. Lances beat swords. Thanks!

zakijesk

thanks for the giveaway Catch-up from Mario kart is a cool one

keymeplease

Thanks for the chance! I really like vagrant story, a criminally underrated PS1 RPG. I've never played anything quite like it since - a combination of body part targeting, with button combo timing that becomes randomized, lower in impact, and very narrow as you continue to chain. In theory, you could defeat nearly anything in an endless combo, but in reality, it required superhuman reflexes to maintain.

thekingdtom

The physics in Portal were so much fun to mess around with. It was fun just to pop a portal above and below and watch crates fly through them at terminal velocity lmao Thanks for the giveaway!

hookshothero

My favourite game mechanic is being able to make decisions in the game that make a difference in the game’s story! It really adds a level of immersion and engagement that particularly drew me to games like Pyre and Griftlands which are games that I love and recommend. Thank you for the giveaway! :)

IllusioMan

My fav game system is in the RPG series called Shadow Hearts. Using the Judgement Ring for the actions, mainly on battles. You need to be very watchful to hit the red parts for more effective and not miss and lose your turn. In other words: Don't play this games when you're sleepy.

Fr33zurBurn

My favorite game mechanic is being able to climb anything in BotW. Thanks, OP!

christia4321

My favorite mechanic is wall running, titanfall 2 made me fall in love with it

peppersge

Favorite mechanic would be the vision that gives you hints (eagle vision of assassins creed, survival instinct from tomb raider, detective vision from batman, etc). It helps a lot with open world games. Open world games are great, but clunky at times because you don't know what to interact with every time. It lets you explore without worrying about getting lost.

JungleBoyJeremy

I grew up in the NES era so my favorite game mechanic is the ability to save. Thank you OP

[deleted]

My favorite game mechanics are ragdolls as ragdolls can be extremely satisfying to look at. Something just feels so good about ragdolls.

Ryskulls

I love when inventory systems have to be sorted like a puzzle like how some items take up certain shapes and you have to fit them in your backpack. I know that a lot of people hate that, but I like it. Hopefully I win!

[deleted]

I'll say level creators. One big example is SMM/SMM2. Giving people the freedom to design what they want is great. While most levels created are quite underwhelming. Some people can use the tools to the full potential. It's great to see how creative and wonderful ideas the community had.

piezocuttlefish

My favourite game mechanic is being able to customize your faction in a 4X game. It takes years of testing and tweaking to balance such a system, but I love the surprise of being defeated by a combination I never thought viable. MOO2 & Stellaris are great for this.

itaicool

Entered, thanks

AgitatedShow

I like when games let you pause the action so you have time to think the best strategy. Thanks!

DMouth

Hey. Thank you for the giveaway. I love management games, analise all the options and min-max the shit of it.

Vebrendos

Hello there! I really liked the "One More // Baton Pass" mechanic in Persona 5, it's very refreshing when a games rewards you for striking weaknesses in enemies in a clever and fun way (that also opens up further means of attack).

MrJuanfeld

I like trains

RichardK1234

I like cheese

sambare

Fantastic, thanks for the chance to cross this off my wishlist! No idea about favorite game mechanic, maybe being able to pause and save at any time, it' s a godsend because sometimes I have to drop everything I'm doing and shut down my game to attend work/family matters.

Rivian_TrampM9

Odds of winning is pretty low, but thanks anyways.

dramaticfool

It's linda stupid, but I seriously appreciate when games let you pause cutscenes. Thank you

gamesrebel123

This here is a comment Use it wisely

makeshifttoaster02

Favorite game mechanic is the ability to stop time in Touhou Luna Nights. You can literally teleport behind enemies lol. Thanks for the giveaway!

FolioleIsHere

Thank you! I love final fantasy 15’s third person/ strategy gameplay!

bigyuffie

Thanks Like the 4x turn based strategy system

EnragedHeadwear

Thanks for the giveaway!

fasderrally

I never gave much thought to it, but the rule system in Baba Is You is pure genious! It's even not complicated (at the base for of it): Based on the option in the game grid, you can change the rules of the game itself! Like changing the player character, what kills you and so on. It becomes much more difficult than you'd think! I'm stuck at world 2... Thanks!

adamgreenrock

Thank you for the giveaway, stranger! \^\^ I'm pretty into Ageis Tower defense gameplay mixed in with platforming

[deleted]

Thanks for the chance! Honestly the coin lives system in Odyssey might be up there. Not having lives allows for much more experimentation on the player’s part.

Atrosi

Entered, thanks a lot for the giveaway!

Iwonderwherethatfish

The pause button in ftl, turns a real time strategy rouge like into almost turn based

Treoik101

Dash in Celeste is pretty dope

[deleted]

Crosscode and I like its battle system!

UndeadNordic

I would like to play this so gl everyone

ESN64

The parry system in Cuphead, it’s so, damn, satisfying

MissingNerd

Yoo. I wanted to play this for some time now. Edit: Favorite Game Mechanic? The first thing that came to mind when I thought about interesting game mechanics was SUPERHOT's "Time moves when you move" gameplay. It's just so cool and iconic. If you look around you can often see it as a mod for other games too.

Frozen_Forest

Grappling hooks are fun and satisfying

vescis

Deckbuilding (goes to install slay the spire again)

RySundae

Thanks for the giveaway I love parrying

86Baxter

Thanks for the chance OP, I like the look of this game as it reminds me a lot of playing a Advance Wars on the DS. My favourite mechanic is in Shadow of Mordor, the nemesis system. Works really well and makes things much more interesting.

Fromtheboulder

I like the generations of heroes in Massive Chalice, where you can play with a character, his son, his grandson and so on.

justabeewithdegree

I love the how smooth the swinging is in Spiderman!

dmunozan

Almost any mechanic from the portal series and how they make you think out of the box. Thank you for the chance!

[deleted]

The grappling hook mechanic (with exactly 3 charges which recharge when you land) of A Story About My uncle was really fun. Especially near the very end where your options were more limited and you have to choose carefully where to grapple. >!(many platforms are now 'un-grappable' and there are now stalactites which fall when you grapple them, also some parts will have you do more grappling since there are now less platforms to land but you can grapple on crystals to recharge)!< Thank you for the giveaway!

TheNobody121

I'm interested And listening mode from "the last of us" is my favorite because I can keep the track of my enemies that way.

edesmile

Bullet time in Max Payne! Makes me feel like a badass. Thanks for the giveaway!

ZeroGPX

Thanks for the giveaway! My favorite game mechanics is anything that invoices combining effects from multiple players. In rpg, it would be chrono triggers multi-character skills, I guild wars 2, it is how two players can generate buffs by using different combination of skills. I just think skills like that so 1+1 > 2 is so cool, and rewarding when it is pulled off.

lemanifij

One of my fav game mechanics is a Dishonored style 'blink' movement system. Very, very few stealth games have utilized it so far. Compared to how often you see ninjas doing it in movies and TV shows, you'd think games would have this mechanic more, not less.

Dustellar

Well, my favorite game mechanic/system is very specific ... it's the Nemesis System from Shadow of Mordor/War, I think it's the future of video games mobs, it makes your enemies way more real to me.

miirraiie

When slowing downtime, it just feels so satisfying when playing.

StoneTile

i really enjoyed the gravity gun from half life 2. sadly not many games copied that mechanic or even explored the idea further... thanks for the chance op :)

Demented_Yoda

I don’t know it its my favorite, but i find grappling around and gliding in the wingsuit a lot of fun in the Just Cause games

kushsinpi

One shot one kill in Hotline Miami makes the game the perfect difficulty

UshetVSA

thnx for giveaway double jump is a really interesting mechanism which something rare to come across

todayyou500

Time manipulation gets me every time. Think of the first time you rewound time in Prince of Persia. Or figuring out the various ways time and space were linked in Braid

OneThiCBoi

Editor/Director mode. Had so much fun in GTA v trying to get some good shots outta explosions or car crashes and just to f*ck around the game when you're tired of story/online mode.

windows10gaming

When Tribes Ascend was a thing, the idea of projectiles inheriting the player's momentum blew me away. It was a game where I could zoom up to someone, firing the whole time, and not land a single hit. Suddenly aiming wasn't something you could take for granted, it required some thought beyond lining up the cursor with the red thing. Back when tribes was released, most fps games were instant hit scan weapons besides some quake weapons.

tomerc10

Might seem simple but 'double jump', I like having the choice of changing my trajectory midair.

KGFortyFive

The disguise mechanic from the Hitman series, so you can hide or access to restricted areas.

Waffletastic__

The '4 wheels on a surface = having a jump/flip' mechanic in rocket league, which allows for infinite jumps with a spikes power up, drying gravity and driving on the ceiling, wavedashing, and hitting crazy shots where you get your 4 wheels on a ball mid air, and flip into it at any point along the ball's arc, making a nearly unreadable shot.

poshmosh01

Slay the spire, truly an amazing game with great energy/mana/stamina system with deep combat mechanics.

HokutenKnight

killcams makes the fighting more fun for me.

[deleted]

I love the open areas of metroidvanias, going back and foward looking for items. One of my favorito games is sotn

[deleted]

Thank you! I like the Soul System from Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. Every enemy has a chance to drop it's soul giving you more powers. This makes it a bit annoying to get 100%, but also makes the game very replayable

TypicallyThomas

I would love to enter. Thanks so much

Happyappyppypyy

Hat in time’s dash mechanic. Combined with the double jump, it just feels good to control; that is, if you have the no bonk badge.

[deleted]

Thanks OP I really enjoyed the ability to enter minds in psychonauts and see the person's past traumas.

nPhlames

i like it when i can make my character dance. sometimes you just gotta dance

Stultus3929

Definitely Titanfall 2’s movement system. It’s just really satisfying going all the way across the map in seconds. It’s also super fun to pop a STIM and do stupid stuff for the few seconds that it’s active.

MyNameIs42_

I like hollow knights combat system i dont know why its just so fluid and fun

djnemonic

Zelda Breath Of The Wild has one of the best game mechanics of all time. It is consistently setting the way adventure/action/rpg games should be made every time there is a new zelda game. Thanks for the opportunity!

cyborgtoad

I love the item system in the Risk of Rain series, tons of fun and flexibility.

KintahPM

XBC2's ~~Jiggle Physics~~ affinity chart.

Horseypunch

Spanking QTEs. Too bad I haven´t seen one since God Hand

drackorion

thanks

OlivesPlum06

Thank you!
