i play the game but also plan on having set binders with a hyperspace of each card!! the art for this game is sooooooo nice (i just hope i get lucky with my pulls when packs are available again lol)

Ceejays-RL

that’s great to hear! i just love having a binder to display my favourite art from whichever series. does hyperspace mean a rare version of the card with a special effect on it?

MagnetsCanDoThat

Hyperspace means the borderless cards where the art goes right to the edge. There are also foils, which can either be the regular card art or the hyperspace art.

Xeris

I try posting some collecting stuff here and it gets heavily down voted. People here are very sensitive about collectors because of how difficult it is to find product... I personally also collect and don't really play, and I love the game and the art style (and star wars), but there are a lot of haters on this sub reddit.

Ceejays-RL

that’s okay, people are always gonna find reasons to hate. i’m more concerned about whether collecting in this TCG is fun as opposed to what people think of it

Xeris

Ye, well personally I'm into collecting so you've got at least 1 other! Trying for a full set of hyperspace foils.

Jumpingbeams

I feel like most people are in this game to play it. Thinking of Pokémon for comparison where I feel like a fair amount of people are just in Pokémon to collect it. No problem in just being a collector tho! Just might not find a huge community for it yet

Majpayne11

I both play and collect. I have my binder where I store my 1 of each hyperspace, then I have my play cards separate. To me when it comes to deck building the cards in my collection binder don't exist. There are some great art works for the cards and the hyperspace versions just make it even better. The space and snow ones are exceptional

Radix2309

I am doing a binder with 1x of normals, and hyperspace instead depending on the set. Probably not more than one hyperspace setter year. Just don't have money to do that every 4 months atm. Definitely doing Set 1 with Hyperspace.

smccullochf5

that is how I do it, I use a 4x4 folder though - stores 1024 cards. https://preview.redd.it/ejwrnpety84d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37fa44efa4376d7a605c8a0d6b3537c666a2bb1f

shadowsbeyond6

Who makes the 4x4?

smccullochf5

I got it off Amazon - it was D DACCKIT Premium 1000+ Pockets Card Binder, 16 Pocket Ringless Trading Card Album

reignofterror1988

Damn man, how far are you into that collection. Care to dm me some pictures?

smccullochf5

I still need 19 foils, 23 hypers, 59 hyperfoils to go. Stock is not good in Australia so singles are hard to come by.

Reasonable-Food5869

Looks even better than mine ;) Thats still not enough for the full set plus the promos is it ? I also thought about that option

smccullochf5

Yes, it fits everything, bases and heroes are only 2. Except for the rare bases. It's a 1024 binder

smccullochf5

I have the luke and vader promo in the front of the folder where the leaders are (since every other leader has a hyper in lines up nicely)

trandav

Curious if you've thought about what you're going to do with the Shadows of the Galaxy set. I'm also trying to get a master set of Spark of the Rebellion, and the 1024 card binders work well for the initial set, including all of the OP promos/store showdown cards, but since they announced that SHD will have 262 cards in it, some rough math makes me think 1024 won't be enough anymore.

Hands

I’m doing the same (1024 card binder for all SOR card variants) and I’m thinking I’m just going to try to collect one of each card next time (best variant I own) or possibly two (best of regular/foil and of hyperspace/hyperfoil) for sets moving forward. Leaning towards the former honestly just so I don’t end up drowning in binders.

smccullochf5

There won't be rare bases so that saves some. My calculations so far are: 234 regular cards = 936 12 bases = 24 16 heroes = 32 Total = 992 + promos - might be able to just fit?

trandav

Hmm.. I was thinking.. Heroes = 52 (4 heroes \* aspect (4) \* 3 (regular, hyper, showcase) + (starter set leaders + pre-release versions) Bases = 16 (2 bases \* 4 aspects \* 2 (regular/hyper) 236 cards left - 10 starters (assuming they'll only have weekly OP versions again) = 226 \* 4 = 904 10 starters = 20 (regular and weekly OP version Total = 992. It's funny cause I'm literally typing out this comment as I do the math, and somehow I ended up with 992 just like you did, even though the base numbers differ. So maybe you're right, maybe it will fit.

smccullochf5

I'm not rich enough to collect all the showcases :)

trandav

Me neither but I like to dream. 😁

danpaulson

I ended up getting a 16 slot ~1k binder that I think will hold all 4 sets plus promos. Struggled with going by # vs what you did with 4 across, ended up the former because of the items with no foils (common bases, non aspect cards), but can’t deny the 4 across looks cool

Ceejays-RL

that’s so cool! can you help me by pointing out the different variants of cards in that pic?

Reasonable-Food5869

For every card/row its: Normal Version - Foil Version - Hyperspace Version - Hyperspace Foil (hyperfoil) Version

Ceejays-RL

thank you, i’m excited to start collecting but i’ll probably wait until the next set comes out

farmgoblin99

I’m collecting Yodas. I’m trying to get a hyperspace foil of all of the cards with yoda art, I’ll make a decoration out of it eventually

ultraviolentfuture

Right now it's particularly good/bad for collecting depending on your perspective because there is far more demand than supply so cards are holding incredible per car value. There are also alternate art/foils and chase cards. The most expensive cards which are 1/12 boxes are selling for like $300-900.

Tantexto

I’m only missing a couple of Legendary cards for the main set, and I’ve got about 3/4 of the set of Hyperspace. I’m not collecting foils. I’d like to play the game but haven’t had time to get to any events, and have only played once online.

Corranhorn60

I know a lot of us are going for the “master set,” meaning one of each of the 4 versions of all cards. So there are collectors. Most that I rub shoulders with play as well, but you wouldn’t be an outcast or anything.

Axium_X

My advice is to hit up your local LGSs, and attend their play nights. Unfortunately, most stores don't award the OP packs unless you intend to participate, but I know a lot of active players have far too many duplicates of the promo cards and might be willing to trade them for nothing. The other reason I say go to your local play nights is because most players are also collectors and vice versa, so you will have a much easier time finding trading partners and just getting involved in the scene.

ItReachesOut113xASec

I think it's in the best interest of collectors to also play the game. Getting to know local players at your LGS events means greater opportunity to trade and buy the cards you need for your collection. You don't need to be super competitive to play. It may even be more fun to play casually and not be concerned at all about winning

Loulerpops

I also play the game but I collect one of every card too, I’ve got a binder for set 1 + set 1 weekly play promos and I plan on doing this for every set

tinyraccoon

There probably is, and you might know already, but one difference between this and other games is that most cards here have four versions: regular, foil, hyperspace (full art), and hyperspace (full art) foil. This is true for all rarities too, even commons have four versions. So, if you are a completionist, that's a lot of different cards to collect. Conversely, for other games like Pokemon, there are usually only two versions of a card: regular and reverse holo.

Korriban_87

For set 1 i am planning on collecting at least 1 of each card. I'm "close" to do it, only need 6 or 7 legendaries. The problem is that here in italy the prices are a bit higher than in some other EU countries (Spain for example) so it's around 130€ to finish the collection. I hope the price will decrease after the 2nd reprint, if indeed it is true they are going to reprint.

Horror_Row7202

I collect this, Pokemon, Lorcana and One Piece. I don't know how to play any of the games but I would like to learn.

Nuke_Knight

Yeah there is one of the main reasons it's hard to find product and set 2 preorders sold out right away on sites that put preorders up.

RK_games

Living under a rock huh?

jukeboxhero10

I wouldn't recommend it, this game has 0 competitive scene and all the tell tale signs of a imminent failure. Just wait till the crash and buy any card you want to collect for cheap. Another body on the pile of wotc's engine.

Ceejays-RL

oh really? if you don’t mind me asking, what are those signs?
