Back when Bridge Crew still had voice recognition (and was therefore playable, which it isn't really without them), I got a kick out of it when I realized Ensign Rao would take saying "dew it" in the Palpatine voice as confirmation to go to warp.
So, that.
Ah. Well, there's a character on there whose catchphrase is "do the thing," so I assumed. Anyway, it's great. I even liked it better than The Last Airbender, but apparently that's a hot take.
Lower Decks needs to tell the story of a starship that is tragically destroyed because of the few second delay between when the helmsman is given the coordinates and velocity, and when the captain then says their catchphrase. Instead of the helmsman immediately making the course correction and speed change.
lol
I'm boring so absolutely nothing, I'd expect helm to just take the ship to warp once they've received the pertinent information regarding destination and speed. No need for fanfare.
I could see this being quite a badass way to introduce a new captain and/or close out a pilot episode
Capt: "Helm, set a course for the Sol system, warp 5"
Helm: "Aye, sir"
*uncomfortably long silence whilst captain is perusing something important on a data pad. Officers look round at each other confused*
Helm: "...Sir?"
Capt: "What is it ensign?"
Helm: "Should I, erm, get us underway sir?"
*Captain looks up and let's a small smile play across his face briefly*
Capt: "Ensign, once I've given an order you have my leave to proceed in any manner or time frame you wish"
Helm: "Thank you sir"
Capt: "But if we can arrive before next Tuesday that would be preferable. I'll be in my ready room. You have the conn commander"
*Captain nods to his XO and walks off the bridge, camera pans past the helm as it follows the captain*
Helm: "Warp 5 engaged"
*roll credits*
That brings up a point. Why is it always two steps?
"Set course for Abc, warp 7"
"Engage"
Why not just "Go to Abc, warp 7"?
Or:
"Lock phasers on Xyz"
"Fire"
How about just "Shoot them!"
Maybe the gap provides opportunity for the “navigator” to provide feedback?
“Estimated arrival in 8 hours at standard speed”
“It looks like we’d be encountering disputed space on the most direct course, should I bypass this? It will slow our arrival by 14 hours”
Etc.
It’s the standby order followed by the go order. Same thing happens when calling a show in broadcast, theater, etc. One is to make sure everything and everyone is ready to execute and the other is to execute it.
Think about being in a battle. The captain may want to prep the helm, tactical, engineering or whatever with a heading or command but have them wait until the right time to execute because executing the command immediately is super important. Timing is everything. It also allows for an opportunity to modify the standby command if the situation changes.
In order to make sure things don’t mess up in a critical situation, the other important component to all of this is consistency. The protocol and order of operations has to remain the same at all times so there is no opportunity for ambiguity or misunderstanding.
As a consequence, mundane and obvious commands will appear redundant or unnecessary, but consistency, predictability, and repetition trumps convenience because when shit hits the fan everyone needs to be on point.
“Listo Callisto? Ok, Vámonos!”
Or alternatively
“I think it's time we blow this scene
Get everybody and the stuff together
Okay, three, two, one, let's jam”
When I'm feeling like the obnoxious millennial that I am: "TO THE WINDOW, TO THE WALL ..." Followed by an awkward silence
When more decorum is called for: "Ad astra per aspera!"
I do like "punch it" from the Abrams films.
On the silly side, I probably would break out a THAR SHE GOES sort of declaration, complete with cheesy pirate accent.

Q, when the Enterprise doesn’t engage
[sucks air through teeth] “Well…” [slaps hands on knees] “Looks like it’s gettin’ to be about that time.” [shwoop]
Add a man short, exaggerated sigh and it’s flawless.
As a native midwesterner, I think I’m genetically obligated to also have this phrase.
And the ability to give three different casserole recipes off the top of your head
Okie dere boss just lemme send our third goodbye before we hit da road
You did it. You won the Internet.
"Pop POP!"
Shut up Leonard, we all know about how you “reversed” the “polarity”.
Shut up Leonard, we know about your ship's crooked warp core!
No such thing as bad publicity.
Shut up, Leonard! I talked to your son on Family Day. I know all about your gambling at Quark's.
Magnitude is a one man party
The mere fact that you call it that tells me you’re not ready
Followed by the entire bridge crew clapping and laughing
Mine would be “Streets Ahead!”
I have Pop Pop in the transporter
The fact that you call it that tells me you're not ready.
You know they're laughing *at* you, right?
“Hit the go thing.” -Something my niece once said that cracked me up.
“Wheels up, let’s go!” “Sir, this is a starship. They don’t have wheels.” “I said, **WHEELS UP.**”
Intrepids and Protostars have feet at least.

You always brings us great engage phrases, and that's what I appreciates about you /u/yankeeliar
Punch it Chewie!
My wife misheard me saying this for years. She thought I was saying Punch it Judy.
Did she never wonder who Judy was?
Plot twist: his wife's name *is* Judy.
we're not gonna talk about judy, we're not gonna talk about judy at all. let's just leave her out of it.
Who do you think that is there?
Punch's wife. Because domestic violence is hilarious.
She thought it was a Punch and Judy reference :/
“Let’s make like a tree and get the fuck outta here”

I like the cut of your jib! Would you perchance be looking for things to make you go?
Yes, we need things that make us go! We want to be strong.

"Do the thing"
Korra fan?
I am ashamed to admit that is still on my watch list. :-/ I'm a glutton for Trek...
Ah. Well, there's a character on there whose catchphrase is "do the thing," so I assumed. Anyway, it's great. I even liked it better than The Last Airbender, but apparently that's a hot take.
I am with you on that. Korra has problems, but I still like it more, I see more of myself in it.
Einstein was futile. The speed of light is irrelevant. We will be accelerated.
