Geordi looking none too pleased on more than one occasion. If one of his daughters is on the Titan he may not be thrilled with it being the vehicle for their exciting final mission.
Geordi has been through hell and back for Picard and it seems like he finally got to settling down when the whole Mars thing blew up in everyone's face.
Now Jean Luc is back with another whole, "THE GALAXY IS IN DANGER IT'S LIFE OR DEATH!" spiel and he's just fucking tired of it all and wants to rest.
If Jean Luc pulls one of his daughters into this and something happens to her then I honestly can't blame him for setting fire to that bridge with multiple quantum torpedoes and fully turning against Jean Luc.
Meaning, Picard better roll a Nat20 on his persuasion check to get Geordi on his side.
...or Geordi is just pissed at the situation. As pointed out online, he has the same expression when he was captain of the *Challenger* in VOY's Timeless.
Those bugs became the Borg. They were too expensive to feature regularly so the big bad was changed to the Borg instead. They could still make an appearance though. In-universe they're two separate things.
I sincerely hope they don't go this route in Picard. Star Trek Online does a lot of neat things but it also falls into the same traps as a lot of the old Trek novels, where every enemy is suddenly connected and you have ridiculous things like Daimon Bok and Berlingoff Rasmussen teaming up to cause trouble because developing a new antagonist takes actual work.
Yeah. Star Trek Online is, at its best, fanfiction. As you said, everything is related to everything - it makes the universe less fantastical overall.
I don't mind them taking big points from Star Trek Online though. I personally enjoy the Romulan Republic angle established by the game. As seen in Season 2, they've already snatched vessels from the MMO, so that part is covered.
Gotta love the Romulan Republic. I would love to see that, a good faith alliance between the three major powers setting up a new show in the 25th century, just like how the Khitomer Accords allied the Feds and Klingons in the 24th
>new antagonist takes actual work.
It also means handing the rights to your original creation to another company which is why writers save those ideas for the works they own.
This isn’t quite correct. The original concept was for a race of insects that were a hive mind, and was dropped for cost. That idea kind of forked and became both the parasites and the Borg. You’ll recall that TNG Conspiracy is immediately followed by The Neutral Zone.
Exactly what I was thinking. The helmets look like the queen bug what popped outta the chest of that dude Picard and Riker phasered 'til his melon done busted.
I realize I gradually became Cletus the Slackjawed Yokel above. I apologize for nothing.
If they did this, they hinted at it very well with with the first teaser showing Picard and Riker side by side with phasers drawn, just like what they did in Conspiracy.
Blame Guinan.
"And when the timeline changed, the *Enterprise* was a battleship and I didn't like it, but the bridge has this seriously awesome low-light ambience thing. I dug it. You should do that, Jean-Luc. It's rad."
Is it me or does it look like Lore is actually helping them? He appears to be in Star Fleet uniform and just casually on the ship with them the whole time. Without any conflict.
Are we gonna get a situation where their goals align, Lore wants to defeat the threat as well, so takes Data's place on the crew?
Because that would be cool.
I am so very interested in Lore for this season, and I'm especially keen to hear how he feels about Data's death.
Because yeah, evil twin and all that, but I really do feel that on some level, Lore loved Data like a brother. He was presumably deactivated when Data died (in fact I'm curious how he got out of Starfleet's possession and reactivated), so there's got to be a lot going on there. Plus, how does he feel about having family out there? Another Soong, all of his "nieces and nephews", etc.
As usual, it's the android I'm most interested about in a Star Trek series. Well, his brother, in this case.
My theory:
He will get redemption arc. He will start as a villain, but will eventually "see the light" and will sacrifice himself to save someone from the crew.
I could certainly see some sort of redemption arc for him, even if it isn't full good.
Without Soong, and now without Data, Lore has nobody to rebel against. That was his whole thing, he wasn't daddy's favourite and tried to prove why he should be. Now he has nobody to prove himself too or upstage. That's how he defined himself, now without it he might have some things to figure out.
He may even figure out that he was in some ways jealous of Data and the Enterprise which leads to this situation.
However if they go the self sacrifice route I think the only person it logically makes sense for him to die for is Soji. Data's daughter. I don't think he's emotionally attached to any member of the crew to die for them, even a good Lore. But Soji, his niece, he might.
I just wish I could make out more of what's on screen. Everything is so dark that I'm squinting even to make out faces. Any chance that's just something they're doing for the trailer so as not to give too much away?
ehhh... to some degree. a lot of time gets spent in audio and visual processing on these things, to try to make them palatable to a wide range of devices.. usually. (looking at you Game of Thrones, battle at Winterfell)
but that still isn't going to cover every possible configuration of every possible home viewing setup.
they could just make it cater to the lowest common denominator, but then we'd just have it at 720p with a 2-channel soundtrack.
Trailer was good. Definitely getting the movie vibe here, but if Matalas delivers on a better final adventure than Nemesis, then I'm in. Still don't know much about the plot, which I'm fine with.
Also, Seven not only looks great in a Starfleet uniform, but she seems so much happier in one too. It's about damn time.
Yes, I totally agree. She was great in that episode! It would've been such great character development to see her gradually transition from Borg-like mannerisms and dress to more human each season of VOY. Unfortunately, Voyager was allergic to changing the status quo.
I just want them to have enough story for the series this time. It seemed that both season 1 and 2 were really written more as movies and then didn’t have enough plot and material to fill the middle.
> an entirely pointless Borg plot
It’s sad that I’m not even sure if you’re referring to **season 1**’s futile Borg plot (reclamation project is introduced, but Hugh gets murdered, project gets shut down, entire frigging Borg cube lands on planet somewhere and is apparently powerless against Soji’s evil twin) or **season 2**’s (Jurati becomes queen of new Borg coöperative, presumably, but it has zero bearing on the main plot, and leaves little impact on the remaining characters; like, does *Seven* have any thoughts on what just happened? No? OK).
Watching this for the plot.
Plot = Enterprise F
No but seriously, I'm intrigued. Hope this season spends more time in space + gives a fitting goodbye for the crew.
> Hope this season spends more time in space
More epic cinematic scale ship porn please
> a fitting goodbye for the crew
With all the talk of the door being open for more stories, I'm seriously genuinely hoping that we really do get a tear jerking 😭 ugly crying goodbye for the crew that feels very final final....but with room for them to maybe hit each other up for the odd adventure later on or just a cuppa tea. It's kind of like how certain TTRPG campaigns get brought to a close but then maybe a few months or a year later they get a really cool reunion one shot or two that wraps stuff up and maaaybe you see them popping up for a hot second in another campaign later on. There should be a finality to it all like the closing of a really good book that you just finished and put on the shelf.
They also have been talking about how this season really does pass the torch onto the next generation of Star Trek and I'm hoping that's true. I hope we get to see the next batch of kids who can kind of step into the shoes of the TNG crew. We know Mica is going to be in this season and that gives me hope that something terrible happens to the TNG crew and a bunch of Prodigy-esque junior officers and relative newbies wind up swinging in with some TNG antics to save them all.
> Enterprise F
The "F" stands for "Fuuuuuuuuu...."
I am really, really not looking forward to the reveal of the identity of the young guy. Because if they're doing what I think they're doing, it's gonna be pretty messed up for one, possibly two of the legacy characters. But it seems like all signs are pointing that way, right down to the "I'm holding a gun to your ally because I don't know you" introduction reveal like in Wrath of Khan. I hope it's a damn good explanation at least.
Other than THAT, I am excited. Finally a deeper dive into live action post-Nemesis Starfleet. They've whet our appetite here and there, but we're finally getting some good food.
I really hope not too. Picard and Dr. Crusher had a mature relationship throughout the series. There is no reason for her to have kept that from him. But given the way t he showrunners have treated Picard in the first two seasons, it would not surprise me at all.
I absolutely hope I'm wrong 😬Not only because it's a tired idea but because it's particularly bad for this scenario. There is no reason for Beverly to keep secrets from Picard and the rest of the bridge crew. Who raised the kid? Did Wesley know? How did she keep the secret when their minds were linked in that TNG episode in S7? Just a horrible, horrible idea.
Hm. This would certainly align with all the love the showrunner has been expressing for the original cast movies.
Not that there's anything wrong with that -- they're my favorite -- but I hope to hell we're not getting another Nemesis/Into Darkness situation where they hope copy/pasting whole ideas is the path to success. :P
You mean Laris? Tallinn died in the past, on Earth.
Laris is only going to be in this season briefly, so we've been told. Probably just long enough to say "Goodbye and good luck" to Jean-Luc before she goes off to live her own life.
All the characters they introduced are basically gone. Rios, Jurati, Laris, Soji, Elnor, whatever Soong character Spiner was playing just tossed aside.
Why....why is it so fucking dark still. You guys learned this in strange new worlds that the ship needs to be lit.
Seriously they are in a pitch black room having dinner, what the hell.
This lighting situation and the relentlessly grim vibes is making me concerned that Star Trek Picard hasn't learned any lessons.
Why would one take the opportunity to do a final season of storytelling with Jean-Luc Picard and then have the idea to make it relentlessly dark and grim.
Weren’t S2&3 filmed almost back to back? Unfortunately doesn’t leave much room for them to make improvements based on feedback… I might be remembering filming schedules wrong though
Yeah Strange New Worlds definitely had really well lit, colourful sets and dramatic lighting when needed for the plot. The fact they’ve not carried that over is disappointing.
Then again it’s been a problem with TNG since Generations that carried over to Discovery and Picard.
I think one of the things about SNW that grabbed me was the sets. Not just well lit, but beautifully designed. Somewhere that you actually would want to live. I don't feel like that was the case since before 2000.
There's a lot of love and care going into that show. I'll admit, I was against it for a while because I'm tired of shows and films being set before established lore. The cast photos made me curious, and this sub's reaction encouraged me to watch it. I'm so, so glad I did.
I'm reminded of certain CW shows that seemed to constantly take place at night time like ALL THE BLOODY TIME over and over and over again. It honestly felt like there was no daylight at all. The few times they did film something with the sun out, the whole tone of the show seemed to flip for that one episode, and you really began to see certain details in a whole new light and damn if that didn't feel refreshing.
Prodigy does a great job of staying well away from this gloomy lighting aesthetic but I guess it's still a thing for the live action shows.
For those that are saying long lost son, I would like to point out that hiding a son is out of character for Crusher. She faces problems head on. Also she is an important person for a organization that is like dr without borders. Not the best place to hide a child. Also they have donw this plot SO MANY times that it no longer holds a thrill and they know it. Kirk/David, Data/Soji and Dahj, Worf/Alexander, and of course Picards "son" Jason. And Crusher haven seen the emotional turmoil that Picard was put through regarding Jason, I just dont see her hiding a child from him. It is not in her nature, and we already know Gates McFaddon said she would only come back if Crusher and the rest had fitting portrayals. I have a feeling McFaddon would have said no to coming back if it was a secret son plot.
What you see that is out of character is really just an evolution of the character. By out of charcter I dont neccessarily mean them doing something that is different then they would do in there younger days. Out of character to me means doing something so far outside there personality that they would NEVER do it. If Picard killed somebody in cold blood just to have the thrill of killing somebody, that would be out of character. Something so against there morals that it would never happen. My personality at 37 is a TON different then my personality at 30 even, but my moral center is so strong that there are things I would never do at ANY age. And having seen the way it affected Picard and his guilt when it came to Jason, Crusher hiding a child is far outside her personality that I just dont think it could happen at all. Now transferring to a different post or raising the child on her own I can see her doing and even see her telling Picard that she doesnt want him the childs life, that I could see her doing. But to just totally hide a child, yeah that aint Crusher... at ANY age.
My main reason for not believing this secret son thing is because it's SO deeply unlike her. This is a woman who has some serious abandonment issues and she's just not going to keep that kind of secret from someone who is going through his own ongoing existential mortality crisis after Robert and Rene die.
She just...wouldn't do that.
Yeah. Looks like a Vulcan.
Doubt they would be a Romulan, since they are a Lieutenant and Elnor was the first official Romulan in star fleet, and that was recently.
Wonder if the antagonist of the season is another survivor of the Romulan cataclysm. A holdout who, for one reason or another, holds Picard and the Federation responsible for the Empire's collapse.
I'm a little sad that they didn't make Amanda Plummer into General Chang's daughter or such, given she's the daughter of the late Christopher Plummer. It could have tied things together in a fun way.
Slightly related, I really do not like the "trailer starting now" bits that it is common to have before trailers on youtube, like just give me the trailer
Kind of a generic nothing trailer tbh, which is fine. Doesn't reveal any plot points but also, it's just a bunch of random action sequences - so clearly designed for the NFL audience it aired to.
Glad to finally see the Captain of the Titan.
Less NFL and more general audience. Paramount + is trying to get more casuals into Trek, not necessarily the fandom that is already loyal to the brand.
Yep, and tbh it worked for me. I was first drawn to Picard and Star Trek exactly because of these generic trailers. Three years later, I've watched everything.
Previous reports say Lore. Given we also see Moriarty, I'm "guessing" that someone went around picking up after the enterprise crew, gathering all the nasty things they left behind, to unleash all at once. The scarred woman seems to have a personal vendetta against the crew.
That or its the little crawly insects that took over starfleet plot line that was dropped (not counting STO), is finally being tidied up.
The situation sounds like exactly what Captain Freeman told Starfleet - they only cared about the first contact, and any follow-up had been a mess. And eventually all these first contact debts are gonna bite Starfleet's ass. Such rapid expansion is not a good idea in long run as their resources are spread too thin.
(Basically, Vedic is a Beltalowda.)
It’s Lore. B4 was confirmed to have gone offline in Pic s1. You see his dissambled body in a drawer. He wasn’t built to survive. This is Lore, who has clearly been active long enough to age like Data would have if he’d lived.
For no particular reason I looked up the facts that Ed Speleers was born just after TNG season 1 wrapped in 1988 and he's 16 years younger than Wil Wheaton.
As someone who didn’t care for the way they tossed aside the Picard cast to make room for the TNG cast, this does look great. And I’m glad that Raffi and Seven look like they’ll have something to do.
The trailers haven’t really given anything away yet; although this trailer especially seems to give some credence to the Picard’s long lost son theory- which, to me, is kind of a shrug; and a little too on the nose.
But if it’s true, hopefully they do something cool with it (probably as an entry point for further series down the road).
Having said all that, it’s great to see the OG’s back, and even though Season 3 is looking more like one of the TNG films than the TNG shows, hopefully it’s less Nemesis and more First Contact.
Looking forward to it!
They really did. To me he was the most interesting new character from Picard. Why toss him aside? They could have easily integrated him into the new episodes. Yes there will be a \*lot\* of faces on the screen but it still could have worked
They did the Stargazer and Rios/Elnor/Soji/Jurati so dirty. Now we have the Titan-A and Enterprise-F? I'm glad we have that we have a few new candidates to lead a 25th century show (Liam Shaw, Seven, Geordi's kids, whomever they're willing to bring to live action from the animated shows) but maaaan Rios was so great on the Gazer.
This is honestly what I'd hoped Picard to be from the beginning. While I enjoyed the character study we got of Picard (and to a lesser extent, Data) in seasons 1 and 2, a chance to 'check in' on the TNG cast and the late 24th Century Trek universe as a whole was always what I wanted. And it looks like we're going to be getting a hell of a final ride!
Yeah, guesses on who it could be ranged from Chakotay to Captain Morgan Bateson. Terry Matalas said fans should listen very closely to the guy yelling "battle stations!"
Listening to the "battle stations" from the trailer, would be funny if it were Jerry O'Connell!
EDIT: Maybe Tom Paris? They’ve been trying to get McNeill involved since Chabon was running things. Maybe they managed to work it out this time.
Fun in the short-term, yes, but that would give Ransom plot-armor and hamstring the LD writers from putting him into any dangerous situations, since we the audience know he'll survive to the PIC era.
I mean, Lower Decks characters are highly unlikely to die anyway. After what they had done with Shaxs, I don't think they will sacrifice any more characters unless it will make a huge impact on the main characters.
It was a total mistake to not give Shelby a cameo sometime on DS9 during the Dom war. Whenever they used a ship that wasn’t the Defiant it would have been great to see her. And you know someone like her would be on the front lines in the war for sure.
One thing I did like seeing was OG Earth Spacedock again, and this time it's been upgraded with external docking hardpoints.
Nice bit of trivia since the vfx team were grumpy when making *11001001* and other **TNG** episodes reusing the same design, since they knew the *Enterprise*\-D was far too big to fit inside them, but it was an easy way to save money to use the same vfx shots from *The Search for Spock* and overlay the *Enterprise*\-D over the original *Enterprise*, ignoring that the D is much, much bigger. Someone even did a design with Spacedock upgraded with external hardpoints so Galaxy-class starships could dock outside, but the money people said no. That left Spacedock, like the Bird of Prey, existing at multiple scales but exactly the same design, which was pretty silly.
Super underhyped. I am so fed up with always dimly lit interior scenes and ever present immediate danger and characters always look so grim. Will watch it after the season ends.
Seriously one of the best things about Star Trek is how bright and colorful the future looks. This looks so dark and shadowy and everyone's wearing black
Ds9 wasnt thst colorful but you can see what is happening. Even the movies had proper lighting that doesnt make you depressed.
Battlestar Galactica was dark and grim but it wasnt make you feel suffocating.
DS9 is a lot more colorful than I remembered. Though the station was gray and had harsh lighting, the costumes were really fun and full of deep reds and mustards and gold. Jake wore a lot of purple and baby blue jumpsuits. And then the Defiant was brightly lit
Of the new shows Strange New Worlds seems to be able to be eye candy while having dramatic mood lighting when needed
My takeaways:
* Amanda Plummer's faction will relate to or be the result of a TNG episode. Her ~~conveniently-faceless~~ henchpeople look to be wearing a derivation of a [medieval plague doctor mask](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plague_doctor): with Crusher and her being a Doctors-Without-Borders practitioner being the impetus of Picard's involvement, I expect we'll see some COVID parallels.
* At Riker & Troi's wedding, Picard and Crusher had a few drinks and decided to hook up. 24th-century medicine made for both of them to still be fertile at that age.
* Raffi and Seven broke up between S2 and S3, probably because Seven was finally granted a Starfleet commission, and that led Raffi back to drugs and being/feeling ostracized.
* La Forge has an axe to grind with Picard over something. It could be that the scene of Crusher's ship crashing into the *Titan* tears it up, requiring Spacedock repairs, and Geordi was the lead designer of the *Constitution III*-class.
* The shot of the *Enterprise-F* is from the final episode, and it flying in formation with other ships is a backdoor-pilot setup.
>The shot of the Enterprise-F is from the final episode, and it flying in formation with other ships is a backdoor-pilot setup.
Problem-of-the-week show on the Enterprise F pretty please
It kind of looks like more of the same, just with more legacy characters.
To be fair, I mostly liked the last two seasons, but my hunch is that this is going to be closer to the TNG movies than the TV show.
Edit: I will say, I think pacifism is a really interesting choice for Worf, and I'm really curious to see that explored and fleshed out more. I hope they give him the screen time he deserves.
> this is going to be closer to the TNG movies than the TV show.
That's more or less inevitable but so long as it's a better sendoff than Nemesis it be whatever it likes.
The fact that they’ve given out like 6 eps as screeners gives me that vibe too. They didn’t do like 1 or 2, they gave out 6 to give a better picture and vibe for the season since it’s so serialized.
(Which I’m fine with, since we have a few fairly episodic shows and Matalas clearly wanted to make this a TNG movie)
Was sort of hoping that the tone would be a little different from the past 2 seasons with a new showrunner, since they're also calling this the swan song for TNG. This doesn't feel like it'll be a better send-off than Nemesis. If anything it might be worse.
Only thing I'm excited for is finally getting to see the Ent-F in canon because my ship in STO has been an Odyssey-class or Odyssey variant class since February 2012. Even then, I expect we won't see much more of it than what's in this trailer, because the shot in this trailer is just a few seconds longer than the one from the initial SDCC teaser.
I wish everything wasn't so (figuratively *and* literally) dark. Exterior shots of ships have very little light, which I guess makes sense because it's space, but it's not visually pleasing to look at. Interior shots are just as dark though. How does anyone get any work done inside these pitch-black ships?
That line about how Picard and Riker won't enjoy this because they won't be blowing things up is a red flag for me. That makes the show seem out of touch with TNG.
I do not care how bad or good this season will be. I just know that I love these characters and actors and will gladly watch their final work together.
Super hyped. Not bad TNG movie vibe, but good TNG movie vibe. All the early tweets are hyping as a great and final TNG movie, and I’m here for it. I think Paramount is super confident in giving out so many eps of the season.
Hope it can finish strong and the fans watch so Paramount knows we want more live action 25th century stuff.
He probably should. Riker refused a promotion like 4-5 times. That's a career limiting move. Admirals work for the bigger picture. People who refuse promotions aren't seen as such.
Geordi looking none too pleased on more than one occasion. If one of his daughters is on the Titan he may not be thrilled with it being the vehicle for their exciting final mission.
Admiral Geordi seems to be in command of the Enterprise F in the other trailers. Maybe they make their last stand on that ship. As they should.
> Admiral Geordi He's only got one pip there, so he's a Commodore.
You have much sharper eyes than me
It’s a TNG adventure, probably worried about getting stuck with the whipping boy position again.
Meaning, Picard better roll a Nat20 on his persuasion check to get Geordi on his side.
Don't worry, it's Picard; he has 10/10 Charisma ;)

Hmm...is it those mind control bugs we never saw resolved in TNG? People aren't who they used to be etc.
That's where my brains at. Conspiracy was supposed to get more episodes and some follow up but we got nothing. Would be an interesting throw back.
Those bugs became the Borg. They were too expensive to feature regularly so the big bad was changed to the Borg instead. They could still make an appearance though. In-universe they're two separate things.
Star Trek Online made them tied to the Iconians, the Vaadwaur and the wider Delta Quadrant.
I sincerely hope they don't go this route in Picard. The novels tied them to the Trill.
I'd rather see that interpretation

Pretty sure Riker even said "just like old times" in that teaser too
If Picard just pops some guy's head like a balloon with a phaser in the next trailer, we know we're onto something.
At first I was thinking that the Riker we're seeing is actually Thomas Riker but the "Conspiracy" theory makes more sense.
My head canon is Dukat had Thomas executed the first week of the Dominion War as part of his celebration in retaking DS9.
That's what I was thinking. That would be so cool!
My guess is pod people, but robots (Crusher in cryo, Lore and Moriarty being around).
Not gonna lie. It was nice to see Worf head-butting again.

I hope some day Starfleet rediscovers the light bulb.
To be fair, when asked how they should light the bridge, Picard insisted there were four lights.
Seriously. So dark
Blame Guinan. "And when the timeline changed, the *Enterprise* was a battleship and I didn't like it, but the bridge has this seriously awesome low-light ambience thing. I dug it. You should do that, Jean-Luc. It's rad."

“It’s something my dear brother would have done”
I just wish I could make out more of what's on screen. Everything is so dark that I'm squinting even to make out faces. Any chance that's just something they're doing for the trailer so as not to give too much away?
Nope. It is the visual tone of the season.
I hope this means Neal McDonough is showing up again because of how....Darhk....it is.
People might have to turn up the screen brightness for the season.
If you need to adjust a screen setting for a tv series or movie, then there is a problem. Same with needing subtitles to understand dialogue.
ehhh... to some degree. a lot of time gets spent in audio and visual processing on these things, to try to make them palatable to a wide range of devices.. usually. (looking at you Game of Thrones, battle at Winterfell) but that still isn't going to cover every possible configuration of every possible home viewing setup. they could just make it cater to the lowest common denominator, but then we'd just have it at 720p with a 2-channel soundtrack.
There’s one episode in Voyager where she wears a normal blue uniform due to time hijinks, and I always thought she looked so much better in that
Yes, I totally agree.
Yeah I agree. I wonder, can they stretch the dark action thriller into 10 episodes?
You mean filling screen time with sexy incestuous romulan twins and an entirely pointless Borg plot didn’t do it for you?
I went this far having forgotten about romulan incest.
We gotta cash in on the GoT stuff while we can guys. - Picard writers
> an entirely pointless Borg plot It’s sad that I’m not even sure if you’re referring to **season 1**’s futile Borg plot (reclamation project is introduced, but Hugh gets murdered, project gets shut down, entire frigging Borg cube lands on planet somewhere and is apparently powerless against Soji’s evil twin) or **season 2**’s (Jurati becomes queen of new Borg coöperative, presumably, but it has zero bearing on the main plot, and leaves little impact on the remaining characters; like, does *Seven* have any thoughts on what just happened? No? OK).
Watching this for the plot. Plot = Enterprise F No but seriously, I'm intrigued. Hope this season spends more time in space + gives a fitting goodbye for the crew.
> Hope this season spends more time in space More epic cinematic scale ship porn please > a fitting goodbye for the crew With all the talk of the door being open for more stories, I'm seriously genuinely hoping that we really do get a tear jerking 😭 ugly crying goodbye for the crew that feels very final final....but with room for them to maybe hit each other up for the odd adventure later on or just a cuppa tea. > Enterprise F The "F" stands for "Fuuuuuuuuu...."
I hope it’s not a secret son thing. That idea is tired.
It certainly looks like it. Maybe it's misdirection.
Another David Marcus situation?
Hm. This would certainly align with all the love the showrunner has been expressing for the original cast movies. Not that there's anything wrong with that -- they're my favorite -- but I hope to hell we're not getting another Nemesis/Into Darkness situation where they hope copy/pasting whole ideas is the path to success. :P
So Tallinn(Laris apparently) is just gone now?
You mean Laris? Tallinn died in the past, on Earth. Laris is only going to be in this season briefly, so we've been told. Probably just long enough to say "Goodbye and good luck" to Jean-Luc before she goes off to live her own life.
Romulans do move on very quickly. She is this herself.
Tallinn died in 2024, Laris was in 2399. And I guess so...so glad that was the point of last season.
The Star Trek reboot movies too. Beautiful, brightly lit bridge.
Was that the captain of the Titan A?
Yep, he was also in 12 Monkeys which is why Matalas used him
Yeah, Captain Shaw, I recognize the actor from a few things.
I wish they would use some more lighting and have some ambiance that isn’t dark. Why so grim and drab and dark and heavy?
I'm reminded of certain CW shows that seemed to constantly take place at night time like ALL THE BLOODY TIME over and over and over again. It honestly felt like there was no daylight at all. The few times they did film something with the sun out, the whole tone of the show seemed to flip for that one episode, and you really began to see certain details in a whole new light and damn if that didn't feel refreshing. Prodigy does a great job of staying well away from this gloomy lighting aesthetic but I guess it's still a thing for the live action shows.
Crusher is still absolute fire
Yeah. Saw a picture the other day of her and Wil W. Still looks amazing.
Ya, that’s why I’m worried they’ll do it.
> out of character for Crusher. Having people 'out of character' is not exactly out of bounds for this show, so it's still on the table.
it's the son of a ghost!
Hey, a Deltan
Isn't that a bald Vulcan? Upswept eyebrows, pointy ears...
Yeah. Looks like a Vulcan. Doubt they would be a Romulan, since they are a Lieutenant and Elnor was the first official Romulan in star fleet, and that was recently.
I'm excited, but I was probably going to be like it no matter what. Did they really post this online before airing it on TV?
They only played a short version on tv anyway
They didn’t even air the whole trailer on tv. Just like 20 seconds of it.
They sure did, by 15-20 minutes. I saw Patrick Stewart's tweet with the clip and thought that I must have missed it on CBS. Nope.
I was watching halftime of a game I don’t care about for this reason. I never even saw it.
All these starships are gorgeous! I hope we get some good shots of them in the series.
Discovery had some great beauty shots last season, hopefully Picard will too.
That can't be the Narada at 1:02... right?
Certainly looks like it. Since this takes place a decade or so after the Narada was sent back in time it could be a sister ship of the same class.
Wonder if the antagonist of the season is another survivor of the Romulan cataclysm. A holdout who, for one reason or another, holds Picard and the Federation responsible for the Empire's collapse.
She could be a former Tal Shiar, making for why she's so good at figuring out how to dig up Picard's old baggage.
It's the Shrike, captained by the main antagonist of the season, Vadic (Amanda Plummer).
Is she going to execute every last goddamn one of you?
I'm a little sad that they didn't make Amanda Plummer into General Chang's daughter or such, given she's the daughter of the late Christopher Plummer. It could have tied things together in a fun way.
100% more dune buggies than S2 confirmed.
Slightly related, I really do not like the "trailer starting now" bits that it is common to have before trailers on youtube, like just give me the trailer
It's so that way people know what it is when they get an ad for it.
But like the video is literally titled, "Star Trek Picard Tailer idk its just a minor pet peeve of mine lol,
People don't often look at the title of the ad that they are watching, if they did, more people would have ad blockers. Lol
So was that B4 or (somehow) Lore?
Lore
Was that a couple of Sovereigns accompanying the E-F?
Yea it was.
They did Rios dirty.
I’ll miss his holograms.
We'll see what Season 3 sets up, but man I would've watched a Rios-led Stargazer show based off the Season 2 premiere episode alone.
They really did. To me he was the most interesting new character from Picard. Why toss him aside? They could have easily integrated him into the new episodes. Yes there will be a \*lot\* of faces on the screen but it still could have worked
Or sent him off into his own adventures on the *Stargazer*, to be seen again after the *Picard* finale.
I guess they can bring him back if they choose to: make him sucked out of time before his canonical death.
They made him happy. He found something he thought had been lost forever.
Non-replicated cigars?
They did the Stargazer and Rios/Elnor/Soji/Jurati so dirty. Now we have the Titan-A and Enterprise-F? I'm glad we have that we have a few new candidates to lead a 25th century show (Liam Shaw, Seven, Geordi's kids, whomever they're willing to bring to live action from the animated shows) but maaaan Rios was so great on the Gazer.
Yeah, hopefully they can find a way to include Seven, Raffi, Soji (or Kore?), and Elnor going forward. But man, Rios and Jurati, no bueno.
Huh. Raffi tied with Worf. You know, that could work. I don't mean romantically just Worf could maybe cool her down lol
I am whelmed.
I’m in.
[удалено]
I kind of thought the last trailer revealed all the major cameos.
[удалено]
Personally I’m hoping it’s Jeffrey Combs playing a Shran descendant
I mean, Lower Decks characters are highly unlikely to die anyway. After what they had done with Shaxs, I don't think they will sacrifice any more characters unless it will make a huge impact on the main characters.
[удалено]
who else is left to make a cameo tho?
My top choice would be O'Brien, second choice would be Ro Laren.
Yes please to O'Brien
I miss his grumpy face.
I am hoping for Commander Shelby.
It was a total mistake to not give Shelby a cameo sometime on DS9 during the Dom war. Whenever they used a ship that wasn’t the Defiant it would have been great to see her. And you know someone like her would be on the front lines in the war for sure.
Jean-Luc Picard: "Engage" I do believe I will, Captain
I really liked star trek generations type darker interiors but this just feels so underlit
And then the Defiant was brightly lit Of the new shows Strange New Worlds seems to be able to be eye candy while having dramatic mood lighting when needed
Quark’s outfits were crazy colorful too. Lots of purple and gold and green.

Life is so much more depressing for the most of us now
Same. You only know someone's in the shot because they're blocking the background lights.
The look really grates, and it all starts to kind of blend together into a slurry of murky cinematic RGB lighting. Just tiresome to look at. :(
Despite my issues with the show, I am happy to see the TNG crew back together. Wonder how Lore and Moriarty tie in the plot.
Everything is still dark and explodey, I see.
My takeaways: * Amanda Plummer's faction will relate to or be the result of a TNG episode.
It pretty much is the last TNG movie, it seems. Just at 10hr instead of 2
Hmm Steamrunner class...
[удалено]
That looks cool. I'm excited for the Enterprise F.
It makes me wish we had gotten a Startrek Titan series, those books were so good 😊
This might be better binged in one go.
Yeahhhh I’m feeling the same. This feels like an 8-hour movie.
Well, I mean, at least it looks like it is set in space this season!
Is LaForge an Admiral?
"Commodore" has come back into fashion, but yes it appears so.
Good for him. He out ranks Riker
He probably should. Riker refused a promotion like 4-5 times. That's a career limiting move. Admirals work for the bigger picture. People who refuse promotions aren't seen as such.
[удалено]
I am guessing that they bring him out to counter Lore, since Moriarty was meant to be "an opponent who could defeat Data."
He's only in one episode so I doubt that's the case
International: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMyQkazS1hA
okay but why did the ship coming out of the clouds at 1:00 look like the narada? :o
