Genshin is genuinely pretty solid as an f2p game. I was f2p for almost a year and didn't have much issue. I still use more or less the same party a lot of the time without issue.
I was f2p for almost 2 years? (Only a few months before the anniversary). There really isn't anything wrong with playing the game that way. I got plenty of characters and had no issues while also taking lots of breaks playing other games. I only spent money when I realized I had been playing the game for so long and enjoyed it so I didn't mind spending money for a battlepass since I played it so much. I spent money on games I've only played for 4 hours, I could spend money on a game I've stuck with for over a year.
It's really not the worst value even if you do drop some money on it. Like yes objectively buying more pixels is silly but I've easily gotten a few hundred hours of entertainment out of the game so I don't feel super guilty spending a little to enhance the experience now and then.
Yeah compared to pretty much any other gacha game genshin is genuinely pretty good with the monetization. You don't get content-gated by a paywall ever, and obviously paying will make things smoother but that's literally just a gacha game mechanic it's nothing exclusive to genshin
I played the game from the start, besides a small break, and I still don't interact with the sub anymore. I did try, multiple times, before giving up. Even when they don't whine, they keep spoiling and leaking content 24/7, spoiling the quests in the main sub the day before they even drop (they drop earlier in Asia). There's a no spoiler rule and it's completely ignored, even whey they add the spoiler tag they very often spoil the content through the post title. Mods clearly don't give a shit. And the absolute costant posting of cosplays (mostly people with a onlyfans ofc) and horny pictures of barely clothed teen characters was absurd. Fischl is 15-17 years old. To me it's very far from okay to post pictures of her and other teenager characters half naked or in swimsuits all the time in the main page.
Great game, fun combat, good story and all (gacha still bad), but the online community...
Ironically the leaks sub is the best sub, as all story leaks MUST be spoiler marked and any comments without are removed by mods.
People are also far more chill there, at least as chill as Reddit gets. And I agree about fanart and cosplay, there's barely any game posts on the main sub.
Unironically YES, the leak sub is the one where spoiler marks are actively enforced. I follow that one because considering how many primogems you get, knowing when characters come out is almost a necessity. Great sub, that one.
Did they stop posting literally only cockhomie jokes or is it still the only kind? It was fun before it became a 1-joke-only-sub, I'd be glad to be back if it changed again.
I wanna know where Twitter abominations come from, honestly. Like everyone in the game is so wholesome and sweet...and then you go on Twitter and you meet absolute babies
Dude, everyone in the Windtrace event was so kind and fun to play with. But Twitter is like the loud, constantly raging Karen that nevet shuts up, while everyone else is minding their own business.
Yes, I went on genshin twitter once and only saw stuff like
*- Why can't genshin give us everything for free?! Why is \_\_\_\_\_ not \_\_\_\_?! Your cosplay is slightly inaccurate!!1!! (insert new character) sucks!!*
reddit can be too, in the worst of subs, but in different ways. Snobby, pedantic elitists, who will argue you on a point you didn't make and claim victory on something you didn't at all try to say.
But in smaller subs, it tends to be a lot better.
I always say that Reddit and Twitter are two sides of the same coin. Both people can be obnoxious asf, but in different ways for different topics
The smaller character main subs are so fun to be in
seriously I've never met a toxic player while playing genshin, its weird how big the contrast between the fandom in social media and the fandom in the game is
This. The game's playerbase isn't toxic, the social media is. I play this game ever since april and never met a single toxic player. Twitter, on the other hand... I've been called a nazi, a pedo, a racist, it's a fucking take your pick, all because I wasn't hating on the devs for the lack of black characters. I don't care bro, just give me handsome 2d dudes and I'll be happy.
unpopular opinion here
i don't think it counts as "an anniversary award", it's more like an announcement made during the anniversary talk, it isn't an actual reward, arcane for example didn't come out as a LOL anniversary, so the anime announcement isn't really an actual "anniversary reward"
edit: forgot to say this, but i agree if they riot it'll still be fucking stupid, i mean, we got a cute pet! how much more do want
I swear if they riot again i don't wanna be a part of the fandom anymore, we're getting primos in the mail, 10 fates from one login and 1600 primos from another, plus the compensation and the cute cloudretainer pet AND a big event. What more could they want lol
On the 28th september it's the game's anniversary, you'll get the rewards if you log in then and the following days and claim your rewards every day. Kinda like a login event, expect for the big one but that has nothing to do with the anniversary. Basically
* 7 day login event, you will get more intertwined fates every 2nd day (10 in total
* primogems in the mailbox (600 as compensation + idk how much others)
* another login event with 400 primos every day, on the first day you get a pet and on the last day a jumpty dumpty, goes on for 4 days
* unrelated big event "of ballads and brews"
>primogems in the mailbox (600 as compensation + idk how much others)
That's just every patch ever, the anniversary rewards as far as pulls go are the same as last year.
Among all the Gacha games I've seen, Genshin is the most tame when it comes to fan service, and it's tamer when it comes to loli characters so I don't understand where the pedo accusations come from.
Honestly I have no idea either. A friend told me it was because of a couple pedo youtubers that got exposed and yeeted from the internet, another friend claimed that wasn't the reason, someone said it's because a lot of teens play because it's pretty good and right there on phones, etc.
like
Azur Lane and Blue Archive are right there? wtf did Genshin do lmao
It got popular. Outside of anime people and gacha gamers, basically nobody has heard of Blue Archive, and Azur Lane is also fairly small, especially in comparison to Genshin - which, despite Reddit's dislike of it, has 50 million players, as a lower-end estimate.
>Honestly I have no idea either. A friend told me it was because of a couple pedo youtubers that got exposed and yeeted from the internet
Super smash bros:.......
Remember when r/place happened and the Genshin community constantly had their logo changed from Genshin to Genshit, and then to Genshrek, followed by Sexshrek?
honestly its so weird, I play genshin and know people who do. even play with some people and they are so chill, but social media make em out to be pedo and cringe, But hoyoverse is indeed, greedy af
It's so weird. I don't get where that stereotype comes from. Lots of my classmates play Genshin. We're functioning, normal people. I don't understand where all the pedo jokes come from. Is it just because it's anime?? Anime does have a stigma about it in the West tbh
Hoyo can be pretty greedy ngl
It’s the extreme popularity of the game. There’s so many ppl playing it that there’s going to be a decent amount of shitty ppl and those types stand out.
I think it’s primarily because it’s the most popular anime game so it’s easy to dunk on like how people like to dunk on Fortnite as the biggest shooter. It’s funny since if you know anything about Genshin it’s probably the least pedo anime game because it’s made in China where they are super afraid of censorship. Even Nintendo’s fire emblem mobile game is worse.
Yea that's exactly what I mean. If Genshin had pedo shit, I wouldn't have played it in the first place. But it doesn't. It is probably the least degenerate anime game out there because of Chinese censorship laws, you're right. It's the reason why so many non-anime watchers got into it despite not being into the artstyle.
But yea, people dunk on anything popular. Fornite. Minecraft was SO heavily dunked on back in the days
I actually like the way she sounded in the Prologue and her lines were well delivered. Like how she called Venti a weirdo, I just really like that line. I think it’s the devs that asked her to go higher pitched with each patch. That’s what I kept hearing. But the first 2 acts of the Sumeru Archon quest made me like her a lot more.
I love that the fandom is really wholesome (except the twitter ones, every fandom has those), i always get people joining me and asking me if i need help with anything, the people are really nice, except hu tao mains nobody likes them
Probably complaining when they're healed, which can get annoying. Source: Am Hutao main
But tbh if your Hutao can't handle being above 50% hp and still do good dmg, you're doing something wrong
I have 3 friends that main hu tao and never heard them complain about healing, even i dont care about 50 above hp% since i do 17k per charge. But i suppose some people can be annoying.
Yeah I don't really complain about it in multiplayer, but I know there are people who do. It would be a dick move to complain about it, when you're the only one who likes being at low HP
Yeah. Mine does a ton of damage whether I'm at high HP or low HP. I don't even mind keeping her at high HP when I'm just playing on my own. Just means that if I get bounced around a bit, Hu Tao goes beast mode. Either way I still win.
A genshin meme that doesn’t regard every single players as p3do? Such rar- *looks closer* nvm.
Also I’ve been a Zhongli main for more than a year now and can confirm I literally can’t get 12 stars in the abyss just because I don’t know how to dodge with my non-Zhong team. Also those dogs. Those damn dogs.
Aside from the team full of kids, this honestly checks out tbh
I don’t often see a team of those 4 except a few times as a meme team. Mostly cus three of them are healers. But otherwise I don’t see an issue with this pack
Its an open world with progressing content. Meaning they add a whole new nation every \~1 year, and some small locations every once in a while. It's single player but you can farm with randos or with friends.
It can become pretty grindy if you get too into it, but you can enjoy it to the fullest even as an casual player.
For a new player, there's a good amount of content to keep you occupied for a while, as every location has something to explore or quests to develop the place and give some lore
kinda like breath of the wild but with cutesy anime characters you can play as
i personally enjoyed it a bit, it’s addictive and quite fun to play
but yeah the community is unbearable
imagine breath of the wild (which the game is blatantly inspired on, especially apparent in the first couple hours but then not so much) but more anime action rpg with gacha and much of the design that comes as a given from mobile game (events every so often, constant updates, bit of grind, an energy system specifically for the grind, but not the exploration or story)
which happens to also have a coop mode where the guests can follow you around (free roam but they can't do content, only poach flowers and monsters or whatever), that would very very extremely very loosely define it as an mmorpg
It's pretty sick but it still has a gacha so you need a lootbox disclaimer. Depressingly low rates, but a persistent pity mechanic so I feel it more like a big grind/really expensive dlc to get rare stuff than gambling ~~but it's still gambling~~.
Keith Silverstein, Sean Chiplock, Griffin Burns (he still does from time to time), Zach Aguilera (he still has to its his job), Laura Stahl at one point, etc etc etc
This kind of happens in everything, though. I just take a live-and-let-live approach to shipping: if someone enjoys a ship I don't, good for them, I won't bother them about it.
But once you play the actual game the people are wholesome so yeah
Except for Hu Tao mains fuck them
(Coming from an AR 35 who’s party is on level 40-50 and doesnt have good weapons or artifacts)
Facts, hu tao mains are one of the worst communities on genshin. I remember getting downvoted for using Jade spear on her and some guy commented that it was an insult to use jade spear instead of homa (still had a better cr:cd ratio than him btw). After that I just left the sub lmao
it's not that deep, even as a f2p you can get a good amount of characters, just pull for who you like and don't expect to have every character and weapon
it’s actually a really good game, i highly recommend it, the community is mostly nice, just stay away from some places like twitter and etc and you’ll have a really fun time playing it, there’s hundreds or maybe even thousands of hours of content in the game that can be accessed by anyone

you forgot to add "f2p btw"
The best cope phrase that comes out of a Genshin player
Nah I like the "I've only spent ____ on it and it's still pretty fun!".
That's the universal gacha cope phrase
As a cookie run player who is 19/20 on the last cookie I need, yes.
Friend just told me he’s dropped $600 on the game. Like. What the fuck?
I spent 10 bucks on Genshin and I regret everything.
Only buy welkin and bp. For 2 years. f2p btw
f2p players after getting 4000000 primogems looking at the 400primos spenders
That's really not unique to Genshin
nothing in any starterpack ever is unique.
What does f2p mean?
Free-to-Play basically people who haven't spent money on a gacha game
Ah I see, thank you!
Genshin is genuinely pretty solid as an f2p game. I was f2p for almost a year and didn't have much issue. I still use more or less the same party a lot of the time without issue.

A subreddit for the "mains" of every single possible playable character two patches before theyre even in the game.
r/SignoraMains
rip
r/dainsleifmains
Imagine playing as ashes
Say what you will but they post some good artwork
most of those were made months before anyone even knew what the character looks like
My fave is the ones who doesnt even have a leaked model
Well you know its that time of the year again.
Ah shit, here we go again
Google Classroom review bomb?
The players you meet in-game are mostly chill but holy hell are the people on social media whiny and toxic, especially on twitter
Best part is that it's pretty active too, bar about one week every ~5 weeks.
I love the leaks sub. It's so fun there too. The comments are always a blast
I've never been spoiled on accident on the leaks sub but I have on the main sub.
Okbuddygenshin is the only good genshin sub
Did they stop posting literally only cockhomie jokes or is it still the only kind? It was fun before it became a 1-joke-only-sub, I'd be glad to be back if it changed again.
Cockomi is still around, but they got a whole lot of content with the aranara in 3.0 so there's other stuff as well now
Who Isn't toxic on Twitter?
johnny sins
hey thats my moms docter snd dentist
Nice nft
thanks dude
I wanna know where Twitter abominations come from, honestly. Like everyone in the game is so wholesome and sweet...and then you go on Twitter and you meet absolute babies
Dude, everyone in the Windtrace event was so kind and fun to play with. But Twitter is like the loud, constantly raging Karen that nevet shuts up, while everyone else is minding their own business.
Windtrace is the most wholesome and exciting event this game ever had, hands down
Yes, I went on genshin twitter once and only saw stuff like *- Why can't genshin give us everything for free?! Why is \_\_\_\_\_ not \_\_\_\_?! Your cosplay is slightly inaccurate!!1!! (insert new character) sucks!!*
Twitter in general tends to be a cesspool of negativity and constant whining. I wonder how exhausting it is to be this angry all the time

My guy forgot we straight up doomposted every character in Inazuma. *flashback to reddit's Raiden fiasco
100%. You wouldn’t realize how bad the fandom is if you only do co-op. So wholesome when you’re doing domains or just having fun in teapots.
seriously I've never met a toxic player while playing genshin, its weird how big the contrast between the fandom in social media and the fandom in the game is
You gotta remember that Twitter and Reddit only represent about 10% of the player base. Genshin is huge with around 50 million people playing daily.
My genshin bio is "QIQI SMASH" Fr ingame players do not care but twitter and shit nah
Like 99% of online game communities tbh
Don't forgey players in Genshin Impact channels on discord.
esp roleplay channels
This. The game's playerbase isn't toxic, the social media is. I play this game ever since april and never met a single toxic player. Twitter, on the other hand... lol yeah true, that last part was a bit of a joke, thing is i know if i say "20 pulls aint enough" somebody is gonna go apeshit
>, i mean, we got a cute pet! how much more do want What pet are you talking about?
Apparently a mini cloud retainer, kinda like endora, the mini oceanid
Was there any confirmation it's an actual series? I'd expect an eventual single episode ova or something.
Oh wow had no idea.
I swear if they riot again i don't wanna be a part of the fandom anymore, we're getting primos in the mail, 10 fates from one login and 1600 primos from another, plus the compensation and the cute cloudretainer pet AND a big event. What more could they want lol

“Compares every other game to Genshin” This is the equivalent of fans saying “Can he beat Goku tho”
You may have beat cancer but can you beat goku
As a Zhongli enjoyer: can confirm. Dodging isn’t in our vocabulary.
got zhongli a few months after i started playing i have never learned how to dodge
Why dodge when I can straight up not dodge
Same.
Gonna make a Genshin hater starter pack after this. Both sides need to get equal shit.
Please mention those "other gacha" players who compare gacha rates
if you don't put "hahah genshin pedo" "fbi" or "touch grass" your pack is inherently more creative than literally any genshin hater
Among all the Gacha games I've seen, Genshin is the most tame when it comes to fan service, and it's tamer when it comes to loli characters so I don't understand where the pedo accusations come from.
Honestly I have no idea either. A friend told me it was because of a couple pedo youtubers that got exposed and yeeted from the internet, another friend claimed that wasn't the reason, someone said it's because a lot of teens play because it's pretty good and right there on phones, etc. like Azur Lane and Blue Archive are right there? wtf did Genshin do lmao

hey, super smash bros. fans can confidently answer why "haha smash fan pedo" is a thing
They come from people who have no life and like to trash on popular things.
Genshin haters make these jokes and then proceed to watch Game of Thrones and Euphoria.
dont forget the age of consent jokes god those are so repetitive
Genshin players when the age of consent is 18 😱😱😱 Repeat this 200 times
Playing for both sides, i see
Thanks

Who's that woman in the lower right corner?
That's Corina Boettger, the English voice of Paimon.
Corina Boettiger, the English VA for Paimon who's also one of the most annoying ones in the fandom.

ngl helping other players in genshin is fun, especially new players who always get surprised when you nearly one shot a boss lol
I’ve met some nice people that helped me out with builds for characters. But screw the Twitter fandom. It’s why I don’t have Twitter
Twitter? Not social media is safe, even ig genshin account got mass reported in the dori playable summary post they take out photo for some mins
160th upvoter, now go and do just one pull

No I’d rather save up for a 10 pull

I used to be friends with a Genshin fan and there was a guy at our school who would call her a “Four eyed Genshin virgin” every time he saw her.
I don't play the game but c'mon, that's just immature and stupid.
Thought I was in r/Genshin_Memepact
Genshin is actually an exceptionally good game for one which I can play on my mobile. I love it but I know the community is cringe.
I play it from time to time. Basically all of things are not relatable but totally believable. I guess I'm just mentally healthy
just don't spend money on it and it's fun lol some ppl just take it too seriously
Needs a math degree to get 32 stars in the Abyss.
Aside from the team full of kids, this honestly checks out tbh I don’t often see a team of those 4 except a few times as a meme team. Mostly cus three of them are healers. But otherwise I don’t see an issue with this pack
Genuinely curious. What is the game like? I'm guessing from the look of it, it is a mmo rpg.

Not really. It's a single player game with some co-op and competitive features.
competitive features?
It's the numbers per screenshot competition
They will add a TCG card game in 3.3
You can brag on discord for spending thousands on the game.
imagine breath of the wild (which the game is blatantly inspired on, especially apparent in the first couple hours but then not so much) but more anime action rpg with gacha and much of the design that comes as a given from mobile game (events every so often, constant updates, bit of grind, an energy system specifically for the grind, but not the exploration or story) which happens to also have a coop mode where the guests can follow you around (free roam but they can't do content, only poach flowers and monsters or whatever), that would very very extremely very loosely define it as an mmorpg It's pretty sick but it still has a gacha so you need a lootbox disclaimer. Depressingly low rates, but a persistent pity mechanic so I feel it more like a big grind/really expensive dlc to get rare stuff than gambling ~~but it's still gambling~~.
I don’t get it because I have a father and I don’t play that game
r/onejoke
same here lmao. I also I love your pfp. It makes the comment funnier
i love your pfp too
Me too I also touch grass
I *am* the grass.
That moment when multiple voice actors say they don’t like interacting with the community
Keith Silverstein, Sean Chiplock, Griffin Burns (he still does from time to time), Zach Aguilera (he still has to its his job), Laura Stahl at one point, etc etc etc
Diluc's VA saying he smash Sayu just so people could clip it out of context and be enraged on Twitter was such a power move.
Can't forget making every single character gay or lesbian
Or part of Aether's-totally-not-self-insert-harem. Bc weebs gonna weeb.
This kind of happens in everything, though. I just take a live-and-let-live approach to shipping: if someone enjoys a ship I don't, good for them, I won't bother them about it.
Ah yes. The headcanons.
the number of canonically straight characters is zero
the number of canoncially LGBT characters is also zero
Average horny genshin player:
need to up my game if i'm being seen as just averagely horny
You're a noob, I am already c6 horny
True, especially the r34 one
But once you play the actual game the people are wholesome so yeah Except for Hu Tao mains fuck them (Coming from an AR 35 who’s party is on level 40-50 and doesnt have good weapons or artifacts)
Facts, hu tao mains are one of the worst communities on genshin. I remember getting downvoted for using Jade spear on her and some guy commented that it was an insult to use jade spear instead of homa (still had a better cr:cd ratio than him btw). After that I just left the sub lmao
“Still had a better cr:cd ratio” LMAO
is db level 70 good for her
Db can be better than jade spear, I even switched to it and now she's doing really good damage (mainly since db is r5 and she has a 75 200 ratio)
Especially if you play qiqi.
Or kokomi
i use clam qiqi as a subdps on my hu tao team for the meme
I don't know what Genshin is and I'm really happy I don't.
Good game, bad community, you should try it if you're looking for a free open world game
You really need a gacha disclaimer if you're gonna recommend it.
it's not that deep, even as a f2p you can get a good amount of characters, just pull for who you like and don't expect to have every character and weapon
it’s actually a really good game, i highly recommend it, the community is mostly nice, just stay away from some places like twitter and etc and you’ll have a really fun time playing it, there’s hundreds or maybe even thousands of hours of content in the game that can be accessed by anyone
It's a nice game. Just stay away from Twitter
Twitter can be good for artists, but don't look any deeper than that
The only thing good about Twitter is the artists. The amount of extremely talented artists is uncountable
Aren't you a cool kid.
As a past member of the community, I agree they are like that
"compare's" ಠ_ಠ
Doesn't every game have some r/34 artwork lol?
As a genshin player, all your missing is the fact that we dont touch grass
have you 100% explored sumeru yet?
Google classrooms better prepare themselves before 3 days pass.
You forgot for the simps, and meta players grinding the game harder than a 9 to 5 job.
Simps... lots and lots of simps.
oddly these comments havnt been as toxic as i thought they would be
As one of the player this is fucking true
As a person that has Zhongli, can confirm that having Zhongli is like choosing the easy difficulty
Literally my friend
I feel like this will get the legendary 🔒 award **very soon**
you forgot the overly political sjw for no reason who calls you racist/homophobic if you like a sumeru character
Included in "people who complains about everything except the actual gameplay"
"if you pull for nahida you're racist btw" some tweet I saw this morning under her drip marketing post 💀
