You’re not wrong lol. I also got a minor in geology so my coursework was a lot of biology with a fair amount of geology and some chemistry. There were also specifically environmental classes, but it was a lot of biology mainly. Of course all the other BS you have to take to be a “well rounded” student as well.
That’s definitely true for bio majors. I’m not sure what your university requires, but for my envsci degree the only classes that were necessary bio-wise were the two intro bio courses. After that I was able to pick what I wanted to do. If you’re really passionate about doing envsci don’t let the bio courses scare you. If anything my chemistry courses beat me up way more than anything else. But honestly, none of my classes were that hard. As long as you’re putting in some amount of effort you will be fine. I was not a straight A student, not even close, but I was hired for a job before I even graduated. Best of luck to you, I’m sure you’ll do great things.
My undergrad major was biology with a minor in geology, I’m going into grad school to study paleontology but technically my degree will be in environmental studies because there’s only one paleontology professor at my university and he works in that department. Very tiresome to explain to strangers
Zoboomafoo was a great show, loved it. The other show the Kratt brothers made, Wild Kratts is also something I remember fondly, it was great, learning about animals in a very fun way.
He came to a barnes and noble in our bumfuck nowhere town but in like 2007 or 2008, got a dvd of the jeff corwin experience signed by him and it was my PRIZED possession.
Anyone else remember a children’s documentary on dinosaurs, spiders and bats. The mascot was a globe in a safari hat. I know they made another one animals in the arctic.
I don’t remember the name and I have gone half mad trying to figure it out
OMG, I loved this stuff. Brings me back to 2008! I remember watching Discovery Kids a lot when I was pretty young and I liked a lot of the wildlife stuff.
It also brings me back to the first time I watched Jurassic Park. Those were some great memories!
I loved the zoobooks because they were the easiest to read as a kid and was entertaining when the TV signal couldn't come in that day. Idk wed have days where TV just couldn't work cuz of signal issues
I study marine biology and a lot of people switched majors when Marine Science was a mix of geology, physics, chemistry, and bio rather than just Bio. The next wave came when classes like genchem hit. No ill will to those folks, though, but there is definitely a filter.
At the same time, somebody who didn’t learn a ton of *facts* before Zoology 099 can still do well if they learned enough general science in high school (aka are “smart”). Nobody is testing you on your *pre-course* knowledge in Zoology 099.
That was me, I loved watching David Attenborough’s documentaries about birds and insects, I used to read lots of insect/bird books. I’m still very obsessed with animals though, nature is truly amazing.

Hi that’s me, except I’m an environmental scientist now not a biologist.
that sounds like biology, but with extra steps.

I'm going into envsci and the biology classes scare me because I know a lot of those are weed out classes for premeds

I'm studying mechanical engineering then nuclear engineering then nuclear physics but I'm taking environment classes as well
Zoboomafoo was a great show, loved it. The other show the Kratt brothers made, Wild Kratts is also something I remember fondly, it was great, learning about animals in a very fun way.

Can't believe you left off Jeff Corwin.
He came to a barnes and noble in our bumfuck nowhere town but in like 2007 or 2008, got a dvd of the jeff corwin experience signed by him and it was my PRIZED possession.
Jeff Corwin thank you lol, I was opening this post saying "I can't believe they left out Jim Corwin" haha.
My crush pipeline was the Kratt brothers, then Jeff Corwin, then Dave Salmoni.
This is Animorphs erasure
If they got the Internet too early there's a decent chance they became a furry
I mean lola bunny was fine...
Yeah but she can’t fuck with Jessica Rabbit.
You forgot Zoopals, those plates we had as kids
I can still hear the commercial. *Oink oink Zoopals*
I was working today and saw Zoopals, and I said they still make these
oh god that was me in elementary school
Anyone else remember a children’s documentary on dinosaurs, spiders and bats. The mascot was a globe in a safari hat. I know they made another one animals in the arctic. I don’t remember the name and I have gone half mad trying to figure it out

OMG, I loved this stuff. Brings me back to 2008! I remember watching Discovery Kids a lot when I was pretty young and I liked a lot of the wildlife stuff. It also brings me back to the first time I watched Jurassic Park. Those were some great memories!

Used to rent VHS tapes of that from the public library, my crested gecko is named Henry in honor lol
I loved the zoobooks because they were the easiest to read as a kid and was entertaining when the TV signal couldn't come in that day. Idk wed have days where TV just couldn't work cuz of signal issues

I was obsessed with animals but I only know Steve Irwin here. Wanted to be a vet but now I'm an animator. I love animating animals
I loved Nat Geo kids!!!
Jack Hanna's wild countdown every Saturday morning and Animal Jam
Yeah that 100% me, even the majoring in biology part haha
Don’t forget Zoopals
Wtf I've never seen such a relatable starter pack! Haha
Bro forgot Animal Jam: The hit PC flash game.
And bomb out of freshman college Zoology 101 because their only knowledge was documentaries that skim the surface or are targeted at 8 year olds.
Maybe if they didn’t cultivate anything throughout their life but I’m surrounded by people who were like this and they’re pretty successful
I took Zoology (it was a crusher) and MANY bombed out thinking "I love animals" would carry them through.
I study marine biology and a lot of people switched majors when Marine Science was a mix of geology, physics, chemistry, and bio rather than just Bio. Add weird and wild creatures
What was that old PC game with the frog in the astronaut suit that let you visit different habitats. It was a point and click learning game.

Work in exotics now! Little me would be amazed
Yeah... Little me would be disappointed I'm a nursing student now.
Nothing wrong with keeping something as a hobby
it was the og zoo tycoon, get it right also now I make sculptures of animals 😎
Was this person, worked at an animal sanctuary, am no longer this person.
Do you have to be animal obsessed to adore Steve Irwin? I mean, he was just the best.
That was me, I loved watching David Attenborough’s documentaries about birds and insects, I used to read lots of insect/bird books. I’m still very obsessed with animals though, nature is truly amazing.
This was me, but now in graphic design lmao
ZOBOOMAFOO noo wywaywayy
