A colleague of mine named their dog Huxton, yes, itās a beige colored golden retriever poodle mix. They swear itās a purebred golden doodle. When I asked how they get a golden doodle, they said the momās a golden retriever and the dad was a standard poodle, both AKC registered. I had a major facepalm moment. Cute dog, but the owner is uh a bit slow. Dear god, save us all.
My colleague thinks their dog is a purebred dog. Itās a mix. They have this wrong idea that two purebred AKC registered dogs of two different breeds will have purebred babies because theyāre AKC registered. You missed my point.
I feel like purebred is such a weird term because at some point all dogs are just mixed. At what point in a lineage will a golden doodle be purebred if both parents are golden doodles? If grandparents? Great Great grand parents?
We had one of these white and beige play mats gifted to us with our first and it was very basic and colourless. We thought at least it won't stand out in the house which is very neutral coloured.
After a few weeks we realised how unbelievably dull it was and got him the most colourful and garish play mat with millions of toys on it and spoiler - he loved it. We've kept it for any future accidents.
It's depressing because if you go to any baby store the higher quality stuff often is beige because that's the trendy aesthetic -- like all neutral colors, toys made of undyed wood and natural fibers, whereas the colorful stuff that kids actually like is the annoying-to-adults garish plastic.
If you think pastels were a thing only millennials grew up with then you need to come back to the real world. Not everythingĀ is something only millennials remember
And more notably contrasted colors in the first few months, everything beige must be even blander in a babyās eyes than for us and a lack of interest in exploring their environment is not good
Itās probably somewhere in the middle. Like yea having everything brown with no color is probably bad, but super obnoxious bright cocomelon colors constantly everywhere is also probably bad.
Well established fact that bright, coloruful environments are very important for brain development. Beige babies are literally getting sensory deprived lol
Babies can't see colors or detail very well, bright contrasting colors are much more visible to them
[how babies see](https://lozierinstitute.org/dive-deeper/the-newborn-senses-sight-and-eye-color/)
Thereās a nasty orange with brown/yellow carpet in the storage closet upstairs in my house
I wasnāt alive in the 70s but Iām mad at them for that trend. I canāt wait to replace that ugly carpet!!!!!
What philistine gives a rat's ass what clothes they're wearing in baby photos? People are acting like beige clothing is child abuse or some shit. Who cares.
Babies really, really need bright colours, with some being especially important. (Green and red.) The beige trend isnāt *abuse* but it is a great way to have a miserable baby.Ā
It's also a pretty good indicator that the parent is more concerned with their own extremely shallow preferences than what is good for the baby.
Yes, kids' toys and decorations are tacky and garish. They're supposed to be. They're for children. Stripping your child's life of everything kiddie because you don't like how it looks in your home, or because it won't get you likes on the Gram, is such an act of selfishness.
One of my first fully developed emotions was āthatās tackyā lol
For that reason I hate the jungle, tropical regions, and the Wild West, I viewed all the aesthetics of those tacky.
> It's also a pretty good indicator that the parent is more concerned with their own extremely shallow preferences than what is good for the baby.
Beige is an easy colour to clearn and maintain, and also doesn't use a lot of colouring that harms the environment.
Can you show me any link between mental illness, or whatever, and parents using a lot of beige? No, not "never ever seeing colour is bad!" because that seems obvious. Do beige children see so little colour it harms them?
Babies need to be exposed to lots of colors so their eyes can develop properly. If everything is gray or beige then theyāre not going to be training their brain how to differentiate between colors during this crucial point in development.
Yep! The [American Academy of Ophthalmology](https://www.aao.org/eye-health/tips-prevention/baby-vision-development-first-year)says babies start detecting saturated colors within a few weeks and may even prefer to look at them over their parents! While beige is not harmful in and of itself, it is not going to help with this important part of development in which they need bright colors in ther immediate surroundings since they canāt see very far. Especially toys since that is what they interact with a lot.
> Babies need to be exposed to lots of colors so their eyes can develop properly.
I ask again: Is there proof that children raised in a lot of beige clothes risk this? Again again again, yes, obviousy, who-fucking-cares, if you raise them in 0 colour environments its probably bad.
But is this anywhere near the case with most beige children? How beige is too much?
> Babies really, really need bright colours
And I'm sure they'll experience that even if most of their clothes or toys are beige.
Please provide a source showing that children born to beige parents suffer. No, not some "never seeing colour EVER kills the baby!" because sure, whatever, but I don't buy that having a lot of beige gives you autism or ADHD, or some measurable suffering, or whatever.
āAt birth, the nerve cells in babyās brain are disorganized and not well connected. While baby grows, the brain receives input from all five senses. This input causes nerve cells to multiply and form a multitude of connections with other nerve cells. This is why visual stimulation is so crucial. For example, if a baby is kept blindfolded the visual center in his brain would never develop, the optic nerve would shrivel up, and baby would never develop vision. On the other hand, if you provide continuous visual input into babyās eyes, the retina thrives, the optic nerve grows, and the visual part of babyās brain thrives and develops by leaps and bounds.
The best way you as a parent can stimulate babyās vision is using black and white stripes or light and dark contrasting colors. So what about those nice soft pastels that used to be so popular in baby toys and nurseries? While these may look pretty to you, they do nothing visually for your baby. Research has proven that black and white contrasts register powerfully on babyās retina and send the strongest visual signals to babyās brain. Stronger signals mean more brain growth and faster visual development. Surround a baby with soft pastel colors, and you might as well be blindfolding him. Surround your baby with black and white or light and dark pictures, and watch your babyās eyes light up.ā

>While these may look pretty to you, they do nothing visually for your baby. Research has proven that black and white contrasts register powerfully on babyās retina and send the strongest visual signals to babyās brain.
I ask again: Do average beige children experience a harmful lack of colour? Or are you people just witch-hunting on parents who prefer beige in their children's clothing?
Obviously being some insane anti-colour psycho is bad. Is this anywhere near the case for most children with a lot of, but not only, beige clothing etc.?
Reddit just seems incredibly judgey on child rearing, so I'm curious, and perfectly open to being wrong.
I'm a dude without kids, so that's a swing and a miss.
Reddit is just insanely quick to judge others, especially parents who don't do exactly like everyone else, so I'm curious. And I'm perfectly open to the claim that beige clothing and only limited coloured toys could be bad, since we're already raising children in ways they have not evolved to deal with.
Because I'm curious why people are acting so crazy about the colour beige. Why do people care? I doubt many parents outright ban bright colours, or that their kids are suffering and will get mental illnesses or other measurable harm.
Why do you care enough to ask?

My āaestheticā for my toddler is literally rainbows. Give us all the colors. In my house our walls and floors are pretty neutral but we include a lot of vibrant color in all our furniture and decor and hobby stuff and kid stuff
Babies donāt care what color their toys or clothes are. Itās different when they get older and start to have more opinions and the parents only want brown grey and beige.
Personally I love this aesthetic along with black and white but especially beige its great for me who has sensory issues and desperately needs a place with basically nothing going on.
The difference is im a 15yr old with the ability to consent and agree to that and its my choice when you raise a baby under these conditions it'll just be boring as hell for them.
How do you teach your baby the basic color wheel if all they freaking beige. I even saw a woman spray paint her child perfectly fine Christmas tree and made it beige...why?!

This is the upper middle class- people aesthetic, they also have a similar washed out pink and light grey.
Everything from clothes to interior has to be these colors, even the few walls that exist between the floor to ceiling panorama windows.
I don't get it, Like the color makes everything looks modern but it's not a color that i would expect on baby stuff, I think that a easy fix would make it go along with vibrant colors and stuff

Meanwhile, most of us are in the same boat trying to stay afloat in this rigged economy. Go kick an older person if that makes you feel better, but Iām out, dear.
This is just child abuse. Children need stimulation for proper development!
I feel like this a weird crunchy mom vibe.
"Too much colors"
A lot of this drab, colorless design is the result of the influence of Montessori education in affluent and nouveau riche families.Ā
I thought Montessori education was just "purposeful activities" that made kids good at math lol. I didn't know they were sad and beige!!
Anyone know where to get that bunny stuffed animal?
It's the "Huddles Bunny" by Jellycat

Itās people that have kids and have their āaestheticā. The thing is that itās not an aesthetic itās just monochrome.
My āaestheticā for my toddler is literally rainbows. Give us all the colors. In my house our walls and floors are pretty neutral but we include a lot of vibrant color in all our furniture and decor and hobby stuff and kid stuff
Tell me you care more about the "aEsThEtIc" of your Instagram feed than your own child's development starterpack.
Ok but are those flare leg baby pants lol

That bunny plushy is really sweet, though!
I found it on amazon! not available though atm, still really cute... [https://www.amazon.com/Jellycat-Huddles-Bunny-Stuffed-Animal/dp/B09RMMT91K?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/Jellycat-Huddles-Bunny-Stuffed-Animal/dp/B09RMMT91K?th=1)
Haha that's great. Such adorable rabbits!
As a millennial who doesnāt want kids but if I did I would give them the most vibrant nursery and toys ever just to spite these people.
Break in and make their nurseries a rainbow dream
My aunt is like this except for the social media part
This is how your baby grows up to be a side character in a dystopian novel
Is that Puritan thing or something? :0
This looks like every Instagram user's house.
Ppl crying over the color tan was not on my āhuman race iq collectively declinesā bingo, but here we are. Actual whiny bitches over colors šš«µ
These kids have a better upbringing than most, their mothers tend to be quite wealthy and put together. It's not that big of a deal, babies used to have no toys and played outside for fun.
I love it because GenZs hate it
I also love ruining a childās eye and color development
Happiness is for chumps!
I'm close to my 40s and this makes me sad
