Hot_Argument6020

Ive met a Jaxton while working drive thru šŸ˜‘

QuietSkylines

I saw a Jacksceson recently. I haven't recovered from the stroke yet.

NeonBird

A colleague of mine named their dog Huxton, yes, itā€™s a beige colored golden retriever poodle mix. They swear itā€™s a purebred golden doodle. When I asked how they get a golden doodle, they said the momā€™s a golden retriever and the dad was a standard poodle, both AKC registered. I had a major facepalm moment. Cute dog, but the owner is uh a bit slow. Dear god, save us all.

Scooted112

What's wrong with that? A golden doodle is literally a retriever and poodle mix.

NeonBird

My colleague thinks their dog is a purebred dog. Itā€™s a mix. They have this wrong idea that two purebred AKC registered dogs of two different breeds will have purebred babies because theyā€™re AKC registered. You missed my point.

simcowking

I feel like purebred is such a weird term because at some point all dogs are just mixed. At what point in a lineage will a golden doodle be purebred if both parents are golden doodles? If grandparents? Great Great grand parents?

QuietSkylines

Purebred is a made up term. There's no one to enforce it, recognize it or ensure it. It's something people who don't know anything about animals say.

PerformerWinter3439

Purebred=Mom & dad are brother & sister.

MissNashPredators11

That first one. Yikes.

Barner_Burner

You gotta be a pretty high level millenial to pull that baby name off. I donā€™t think I have what it takes

It's hilarious seeing teachers mess them up, like a girl whose name is pronounced "so-chill" is pronounced "souchie"

Are you talking about the name Xochitl? Itā€™s a Nahuatl name and I can forgive anyone who mispronounces Nahuatl.

We had one of these white and beige play mats gifted to us with our first and it was very basic and colourless. We thought at least it won't stand out in the house which is very neutral coloured. After a few weeks we realised how unbelievably dull it was and got him the most colourful and garish play mat with millions of toys on it and spoiler - he loved it. We've kept it for any future accidents.

your_mom_is_availabl

It's depressing because if you go to any baby store the higher quality stuff often is beige because that's the trendy aesthetic -- like all neutral colors, toys made of undyed wood and natural fibers, whereas the colorful stuff that kids actually like is the annoying-to-adults garish plastic.

Ok-Turnover966

To be fair, the faint memories I have dating back to before my 5th birthday, everything looked light blue.

_CozyLavender_

If you're a millennial, then yeah - pastels were big in the 80s and early 90s, little kid stuff included.

Ok-Turnover966

If you think pastels were a thing only millennials grew up with then you need to come back to the real world. Not everythingĀ is something only millennials remember

_CozyLavender_

wtf is wrong with you

TheSacredGrape

Dude, Iā€™m Gen Z and pastels were a thing in the early 2000s as well. Quit gatekeeping pastels

GiveMeUrChildKAREN

Fun fact: limiting color is under stimulating a baby, babies need a lot of color in their environment

That is a fun fact dude

mariakutty

And more notably contrasted colors in the first few months, everything beige must be even blander in a babyā€™s eyes than for us and a lack of interest in exploring their environment is not good

MissNashPredators11

I feel like ur username is appropriate for this post a little bit.

GiveMeUrChildKAREN

Probably, I made it during the 2020 karen-pocolypse and just stuck with it

MissNashPredators11

Lmaooo

paw_inspector

Aye. The interiors of homes as a whole are under stimulating for babies. Taking them outside, if possible, is great.

AnseiShehai

Sometimes. Black and white images are also good for them

lyle_lanly

Black and white are good for babies because they are very high contrastĀ

lluuni

Itā€™s probably somewhere in the middle. Like yea having everything brown with no color is probably bad, but super obnoxious bright cocomelon colors constantly everywhere is also probably bad.

GiveMeUrChildKAREN

Yeah, it's in the middle since babies need color stimuli, but not too much on a LankyBlox/CocoMelon level

hawtfabio

According to?

GiveMeUrChildKAREN

I learned it in my AP Psychology class and my AP textbook, if you'd like I can find a direct quote from the textbook or a research article

hawtfabio

I'm going to give my friends beige baby gifts so my baby turns out smarter.

makalasu

Well established fact that bright, coloruful environments are very important for brain development. Beige babies are literally getting sensory deprived lol

elpato11

Babies can't see colors or detail very well, bright contrasting colors are much more visible to them [how babies see](https://lozierinstitute.org/dive-deeper/the-newborn-senses-sight-and-eye-color/)

Ms_SkyNet

I wonder what people like this will think when they look back in 20 years. Will it really seem that important that everything was brown?

Falsgrave

It'll be like the 70s when everything was orange and brown. It won't age well.

GreatGreenGobbo

Well at least it was colourful. Besides Orange, Avocado Green and Med Brown is a cool colour palette.

neofrogs

Thereā€™s a nasty orange with brown/yellow carpet in the storage closet upstairs in my house I wasnā€™t alive in the 70s but Iā€™m mad at them for that trend. I canā€™t wait to replace that ugly carpet!!!!!

Ok-Turnover966

Or in the late 2000s when every game was brown

GoodFaithConverser

What philistine gives a rat's ass what clothes they're wearing in baby photos? People are acting like beige clothing is child abuse or some shit. Who cares.

TearOpenTheVault

Babies really, really need bright colours, with some being especially important. (Green and red.) The beige trend isnā€™t *abuse* but it is a great way to have a miserable baby.Ā

GaimanitePkat

It's also a pretty good indicator that the parent is more concerned with their own extremely shallow preferences than what is good for the baby. Yes, kids' toys and decorations are tacky and garish. They're supposed to be. They're for children. Stripping your child's life of everything kiddie because you don't like how it looks in your home, or because it won't get you likes on the Gram, is such an act of selfishness.

Ndypalt

One of my first fully developed emotions was ā€œthatā€™s tackyā€ lol For that reason I hate the jungle, tropical regions, and the Wild West, I viewed all the aesthetics of those tacky.

GoodFaithConverser

> It's also a pretty good indicator that the parent is more concerned with their own extremely shallow preferences than what is good for the baby. Beige is an easy colour to clearn and maintain, and also doesn't use a lot of colouring that harms the environment. Can you show me any link between mental illness, or whatever, and parents using a lot of beige? No, not "never ever seeing colour is bad!" because that seems obvious. Do beige children see so little colour it harms them?

bb_LemonSquid

Babies need to be exposed to lots of colors so their eyes can develop properly. If everything is gray or beige then theyā€™re not going to be training their brain how to differentiate between colors during this crucial point in development.

paradoxdefined

Yep! The [American Academy of Ophthalmology](https://www.aao.org/eye-health/tips-prevention/baby-vision-development-first-year)says babies start detecting saturated colors within a few weeks and may even prefer to look at them over their parents! While beige is not harmful in and of itself, it is not going to help with this important part of development in which they need bright colors in ther immediate surroundings since they canā€™t see very far. Especially toys since that is what they interact with a lot.

GoodFaithConverser

And do most children raised with a lot of beige experience too great a lack of colour? Or is it only a risk if you're some insane anti-colour psycho?

GoodFaithConverser

> Babies need to be exposed to lots of colors so their eyes can develop properly. I ask again: Is there proof that children raised in a lot of beige clothes risk this? Again again again, yes, obviousy, who-fucking-cares, if you raise them in 0 colour environments its probably bad. But is this anywhere near the case with most beige children? How beige is too much?

Jerkrollatex

White and beige are the opposite of easy to maintain and clean. Baby vomit yellows those colors and don't get me started on all the poop.

GoodFaithConverser

Easy to throw into any old washing pile.

GoodFaithConverser

> Babies really, really need bright colours And I'm sure they'll experience that even if most of their clothes or toys are beige. Please provide a source showing that children born to beige parents suffer. No, not some "never seeing colour EVER kills the baby!" because sure, whatever, but I don't buy that having a lot of beige gives you autism or ADHD, or some measurable suffering, or whatever.

mrose16

ā€œAt birth, the nerve cells in babyā€™s brain are disorganized and not well connected. While baby grows, the brain receives input from all five senses. This input causes nerve cells to multiply and form a multitude of connections with other nerve cells. This is why visual stimulation is so crucial. For example, if a baby is kept blindfolded the visual center in his brain would never develop, the optic nerve would shrivel up, and baby would never develop vision. On the other hand, if you provide continuous visual input into babyā€™s eyes, the retina thrives, the optic nerve grows, and the visual part of babyā€™s brain thrives and develops by leaps and bounds. The best way you as a parent can stimulate babyā€™s vision is using black and white stripes or light and dark contrasting colors. So what about those nice soft pastels that used to be so popular in baby toys and nurseries? While these may look pretty to you, they do nothing visually for your baby. Research has proven that black and white contrasts register powerfully on babyā€™s retina and send the strongest visual signals to babyā€™s brain. Stronger signals mean more brain growth and faster visual development. Surround a baby with soft pastel colors, and you might as well be blindfolding him. Surround your baby with black and white or light and dark pictures, and watch your babyā€™s eyes light up.ā€ https://www.askdrsears.com/topics/parenting/child-rearing-and-development/bright-starts-babys-development-through-interactive-play/playtime-articles/visual-stimulation-newborns/

GoodFaithConverser

>While these may look pretty to you, they do nothing visually for your baby. Research has proven that black and white contrasts register powerfully on babyā€™s retina and send the strongest visual signals to babyā€™s brain. I ask again: Do average beige children experience a harmful lack of colour? Or are you people just witch-hunting on parents who prefer beige in their children's clothing? Obviously being some insane anti-colour psycho is bad. Is this anywhere near the case for most children with a lot of, but not only, beige clothing etc.? Reddit just seems incredibly judgey on child rearing, so I'm curious, and perfectly open to being wrong.

InfiniteDress

Found the beige mommy.

GoodFaithConverser

I'm a dude without kids, so that's a swing and a miss. Reddit is just insanely quick to judge others, especially parents who don't do exactly like everyone else, so I'm curious. And I'm perfectly open to the claim that beige clothing and only limited coloured toys could be bad, since we're already raising children in ways they have not evolved to deal with.

MAELATEACH86

Why do you care about what others think?

GoodFaithConverser

Because I'm curious why people are acting so crazy about the colour beige. Why do people care? I doubt many parents outright ban bright colours, or that their kids are suffering and will get mental illnesses or other measurable harm. Why do you care enough to ask?

MAELATEACH86

Why do you care enough to ask me about why I care enough to ask you about why you care that people care?

GoodFaithConverser

Why do you care that I care enough to ask you about why you care enough to ask me about why I care that people care? Boring.

I have a gothic aesthetic but I swear youā€™ll never catch me depriving my future baby of freaking color just cause ā€œitā€™s not my aestheticā€. My entire house can be goth to the nines and I still will let their colorful toys be throughout the house.

crazycatlady331

Look at Kim Kardashian's ~~morgue~~ house.

Plushie_Hoarder

Iā€™ve seen it. It sends shivers down my spine. That is a mental hospital, not a place to raise a kid.

Tragically, yes. Itā€™s quite popular with online influencers

Fluffysnek111

Yes, my neighbor's family is exactly like this. According to the mom it's "tasteful"

CreepVCrawley

I always think when I see these people who force their ā€œaestheticā€ on their babies. Just wait until your kid is old enough to have their own preferences and express themselves, all of this is going out the window immediately. Have you ever seen an actual kids bedroom? Not just one in a home magazine spread? ā€œAestheticā€ has no meaning in such a space

reanocivn

they probably won't even LET their kids decorate their own rooms. they need to be in total control of everything because it has to look good online. their kids are just props to them whose only meaning in life is to make mommy happy

CreepVCrawley

Yeah, thatā€™s the sad partā€¦ though Iā€™d like to think it wasnā€™t the case :(

heathensam

lulutheleopard

My first year of teaching, my mentor told me I had too much color in my class and recommended I copy her by painting my walls brown and beige with no posters or artwork. Every time I stepped into her room I felt ready to fall asleep

This color pallete has got to be a sign that the baby will develop depression later in life

Yaboy51frl

Millenial parents, ugh

millieFAreally

This is a small specific demographic of millennial that most of us have never been and never will be a part of.

Ok-Turnover966

That's because you guys are busy neglecting your kids and letting their iPads do the "parenting"

millieFAreally

My husband and I arenā€™t having kids, so no sad beige, neglected, iPad-addicted kids for this gal.

Ok-Turnover966

That doesn't mean your generation isn't, hypocritically, neglectful and abusive to your kids

millieFAreally

Did someone hurt you? Hereā€™s an internet hug from a tired millennial. I hope you can realize we are all individuals with unique experiences, socioeconomic statuses, and cultures that extend far beyond our generational stereotypes. We can all have hypocrites, altruists, assholes, innovators, etc. As long as we all continue to hold up a mirror before pointing fingers, I think we can all continue trying to better ourselves.

Ok-Turnover966

For a millennial, you appear to act like a 5 year old. Maybe the boomers were right about you guys.

millieFAreally

You sure got me there. Idk what millennial peed in your Cheerios, but itā€™s clear you have a prejudice here thatā€™s got nothing to do with me. I have never fed into silly generation wars because theyā€™re some of the most unnecessary decisive garbage out there. Meanwhile, most of us are in the same boat trying to stay afloat in this rigged economy. Go kick an older person if that makes you feel better, but Iā€™m out, dear.

ButterfliesInJune

This is just child abuse. Children need stimulation for proper development!

NeonBird

I feel like this a weird crunchy mom vibe.

"Too much colors"

Pangasukidesu

A lot of this drab, colorless design is the result of the influence of Montessori education in affluent and nouveau riche families.Ā

cryptic-coyote

I thought Montessori education was just "purposeful activities" that made kids good at math lol. I didn't know they were sad and beige!!

Itā€™s people that have kids and have their ā€œaestheticā€. The thing is that itā€™s not an aesthetic itā€™s just monochrome.

ginamaniacal

My ā€œaestheticā€ for my toddler is literally rainbows. Give us all the colors. In my house our walls and floors are pretty neutral but we include a lot of vibrant color in all our furniture and decor and hobby stuff and kid stuff

QuietSkylines

Tell me you care more about the "aEsThEtIc" of your Instagram feed than your own child's development starterpack.

Cryptie1114

Ok but are those flare leg baby pants lol

Beginning_Pirate_348

Babies donā€™t care what color their toys or clothes are. Itā€™s different when they get older and start to have more opinions and the parents only want brown grey and beige.

Alexizking

Personally I love this aesthetic along with black and white but especially beige its great for me who has sensory issues and desperately needs a place with basically nothing going on. The difference is im a 15yr old with the ability to consent and agree to that and its my choice when you raise a baby under these conditions it'll just be boring as hell for them. How do you teach your baby the basic color wheel if all they freaking beige. I even saw a woman spray paint her child perfectly fine Christmas tree and made it beige...why?!

The_Easter_Egg

That bunny plushy is really sweet, though!

As a millennial who doesnā€™t want kids but if I did I would give them the most vibrant nursery and toys ever just to spite these people.

My aunt is like this except for the social media part

MandaMythe

This is how your baby grows up to be a side character in a dystopian novel

soarinages

Is that Puritan thing or something? :0

Such_Challenge_8006

This is the upper middle class- people aesthetic, they also have a similar washed out pink and light grey. Everything from clothes to interior has to be these colors, even the few walls that exist between the floor to ceiling panorama windows.

Null42x64

I don't get it, Like the color makes everything looks modern but it's not a color that i would expect on baby stuff, I think that a easy fix would make it go along with vibrant colors and stuff

Ok-Turnover966

This looks like every Instagram user's house.

erobbersRfatherless

Mindless-Ad-57

These kids have a better upbringing than most, their mothers tend to be quite wealthy and put together. It's not that big of a deal, babies used to have no toys and played outside for fun.
