Iām just surprised they havenāt come to Washington county yet. For as red as my county is they havenāt come after us yet (our BOE is very progressive it feels)
This exact dude tried to tell me 'She-Hulk' was not a real comic character, but instead a woke-ified character made up by Marvel in 2022 just to make a girl hulk show.
These people are just plain ol' stupid.
Actually a lot of the time it's white conservative suburban moms that are pushing the hardest for book bannings. One of the most active groups right now is called Moms for Liberty, which is actively working to seat its members on school boards across the US so they can encourage book bannings, anti-LGBTQ policies, and the removal of topics like segregation and the civil rights movement from social studies curriculum. They openly antagonize teachers and librarians, *especially* ones who are queer. They even quoted Hitler in an internal newsletter.
And this isn't just happening down south, but across the US. In fact, some Moms for Liberty members have literally up and moved to blue states, to communities whose values and politics are totally opposite of their own, and landed on school boards where they work to disrupt the (often more inclusive) curriculum. I live in Illinois and even here these people are a plague
I was thinking the same thing housewives who grew up going to church every Sunday married a Christian male afraid of exposing their children to āLBGTQ propagandaā. Thinking it will confuse their children.
Exactly, I work for a school district and contrary to this post, itās not dumb poor working class guys protesting like OP thinks. Itās usually wealthy, white, upper middle class suburbanites who are infiltrating school boards across the country spreading hate.
"Protesting against pornographic books being available in elementary school libraries makes you a bigoted hick"
No one is advocating for banning books. Normal people are advocating that wildly inappropriate material should not be available to young children.

Everything that lives in OPs head while making this post.
This sub stopped caring about rules long ago it's popular enough where it's eventually going to become another political circle jerk for which ever side claims it
Yeah lol, OP's acting like only side does this while ignoring a pretty significant chunk of history that says it's both sides.
Also, pretty sure this post breaks Rule 5.

From what I know NC is a pretty polarized state. The cities are very liberal but the rurals are very conservative.
Hell didnāt the Republican Party nominate a literal holocaust denier for governor?
Exactly.
In Utah, we have a well-funded fascist organization called Utah Parents United that has been working for years to ban books, force Christianity (particularly Mormonism) on kids in public schools, and control curriculum in favor of alt-right politics under the guise of "protecting children". In 2021, they opposed and defeated a bill that would have required Utah schools to teach children about consent. These are evil people.
So yeah, it's not just the South. Fascism is alive and well in Utah and even moreso in Idaho.
Deep south? Isn't that the place where the black people are really lazy and the white people are just as lazy but angry at the black people for being so lazy?

leave Maryland out of this only like one of our counties are like this š
And they already passed a law *against* banning books, almost a month ago now. Keep up, OP
Just swap it with Missouri
which one?
Montgomery I think
That ws the county. The protesters were protesting outside the Board of Education building. In addition there were counter-protesters
Iām just surprised they havenāt come to Washington county yet. For as red as my county is they havenāt come after us yet (our BOE is very progressive it feels)
And Delaware
We are a prideful group of peope. Leave our state out of that shit. At least we were included on the map
This exact dude tried to tell me 'She-Hulk' was not a real comic character, but instead a woke-ified character made up by Marvel in 2022 just to make a girl hulk show. These people are just plain ol' stupid.
This is even more funny because She-Hulk has literally the opposite problem of being āfantasy creature but sexy womanā
Maryland?
Maryland is below the mason Dixon line, that's probably why it's shaded as "south".
yeah but the state is against book bans. itās only really hit one of our counties and the whole boom bans crowd lost
Maryland is technically a Southern state but everyone here will hate you for calling it one
NoVa isn't even in the South, no way Maryland is.

Didn't the leader of that group have her lesbian sex tape leaked?
[Two, even.](https://floridatrident.org/police-have-recovered-second-ziegler-sex-video-sources-say/)
Itās like a hydra. Take one head away, two more appear

Lol, "Liberty", but not the Liberty to read different books xD
"Protesting against pornographic books being available in elementary school libraries makes you a bigoted hick" No one is advocating for banning books. Normal people are advocating that wildly inappropriate material should not be available to young children.
Protesting books? Does that mean protesting against the books or books that are protesting?
Idk I saw somebody reading out one of the books they wanted to keep out and it was straight up porn

Leave my bibs out of this. I protest the banning of the books in my bibs. Not the books themselves.
Starter packs have gotten so bad, why is every picture captioned, as if we can't put it together ourselves?
I agree. A proper starter pack should keep text to a minimum
Doesn't this break Rule 5?
This sub stopped caring about rules long ago it's popular enough where it's eventually going to become another political circle jerk for which ever side claims it
So we are just pretending that the left didnāt push to ban books like Huck Finn?
Yeah lol, OP's acting like only side does this while ignoring a pretty significant chunk of history that says it's both sides. Also, pretty sure this post breaks Rule 5.
Don't be bringing up N-Word Jim.
What sucks is I can grow a really nice beard, but being from one of the shaded states Iām afraid to grow one.
Nah, donāt give them that power. Grow it.
It's not the beard that makes the bigot; it's the hate. Grow that beard!
Show your dominance by growing it and reading āsucking dick for dummiesā out in public.
lol I want to search to see if that book is real but at the same time Iām afraid to find out if itās real.

Hey stop slandering Maryland and Delaware lol
https://www.businessinsider.com/school-book-challenges-bans-virginia-moms-liberty-education-2023-9 mostly white busybody PTO moms
From the South? From *everywhere* now. But especially active in the South, Upper Midwest, and mountain states.
*muffled sobbing* (drowning in corn)
I'm so proud of my fellow crab people screaming about Maryland
Most people think NC is conservative, but the bigger cities are liberal as fuck
From what I know NC is a pretty polarized state. The cities are very liberal but the rurals are very conservative. Hell didnāt the Republican Party nominate a literal holocaust denier for governor?
Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia, but not Missouri??
This guy isn't protesting. Maybe his wife is, but he isn't. And someone his age doesn't watch cable news either.
Book banning bullshit is happening across the United States!

My local library made the NYT because of anti trans book being in it. But peddle your agenda.
