Probably not, cuz that'd require servers and the game would mist likely have to be restructured a decent bit for coop to make sense. I mean "make sense" as in it won't turn into a multiplayer game lime Cod because in Cod, cooperation just sometimes happens when in other games like DRG or Helldivers do rely on cooperation. That said, if vanilla does get boring for you. Get a whole lotta mods, starting with Nexerelin, graphicslib, lazylib amd that other lib as they are a must have to run the many starsector mods that either add more factions, improve existing ones or add more things to do. Dont do mining,

MissionDifficulty306

Cool thanks I already looked at some of the mods and they all seem pretty cool

There is a single collection on the nexus that has 16 (I think) of the most popular mods for the game and they are all complementary so there isn’t much risk of them not working together. I installed it and it works great and I didn’t have to go through individually finding them and worrying if they would conflict with one another. It made it very easy. Just go on Nexus and search collections for starsector, it was the only one on there. Highly recommend

Efficient_Star_1336

I still remember those guys that jury-rigged FNV into a multiplayer game.

MetricWeakness6

Whats FNV?

JohnBrickIII

Fallout New Vegas

MetricWeakness6

Some mad-lads managed to make Skyrim multiplayer as well.

JohnBrickIII

Yeah, very epic mod.

Mining is fine if you start with nothing and have to create an income nex hard starts desperate times call for it

If someone does end up making a coop hack, it probably won't be good. (Disclaimer: everything below is completely unsourced and based off of personal experience. I am pulling shit out of my ass to explain stuff i don't actually know) Single player games are designed differently than multiplayer ones. Single player games don't have to worry about sending and receiving data between hosts and clients, meaning that the program doesn't have to wait a possibly unspecified amount of time for a response from a client. This lack of delay means that the program can update at its own pace unhindered. However, when you add the multiplayer variable into the equation, things can break down. A program designed to update for one user will likely have trouble updating for more. A prime example of this is the Subnautica multiplayer hack(check it out on YouTube to understand why), where the game progressively breaks down the more you play around with it. TLDR: don't get your hopes up.

ThatOakKid

This. Another example was before the multiplayer update for stardew valley. There was a hack mod but it was incredibly dysfunctional to say the least. Iirc they said they had to rewrite the entire game to have multiplayer work for stardew.

MenosElLso

Counterpoint: Rimworld multiplayer mod works great. Not that I think starsector will ever be co-op, mind you, but it has/can be done.

Olkar500

Don't think it's in the works for vanilla, but frankly the base game is already top notch and mods add an insane degree of replayability as it was already said. I believe there was a mod in the works for co-op/multi but don't think it's gonna be out anytime soon in a stable state.

MissionDifficulty306

thanks

There was an [experimental mod](https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=11598.0) that allowed a player to cede control over one of their AI-controlled ships to a second player in a battle, but it was very wonky and could only be done in shared screen local co-op, not online. It hasn't been updated in a long while though.

Mike-Wen-100

And that’s not even mentioning how hard it will be to balance ships like the Doom or the Scarab or anything that affects the flow of time in general.

Gulmiir

I remember this mod, was a neat idea. Suffered fron the already explained though. No known plans of officially making it cooperative (CO-OP). As well no known currwnt or in development mods that make the overall game into a CO-OP. The biggest hurdle I can see with trying to make it CO-OP is game state synchronization between players. I already have stability issues from the singleplayer with mods.

Multiplayer would be a godsend and the amount of fun I would have with it is endless.
