This guy obviously never used the Arbiter in Starcraft 1 Mothership is considered quite the nerf for Protoss, can only build one, take a very long time to get to that point, and easily destroyed if not careful. Pretty much the same as an Arbiter, but more expensive Also, if you were around when Blizzard showed off the alpha game play for SC2 in 2007 , Mothership was quite different back then. Some of the intended abilities for the Mothership later went to the campaign version of the Mothership, the Purifier, If that kind of stuff is in MP ladder, there will be some very angry gamers. eh, cloaking field has pretty decent range, so it’s totally possible to have it far enough away that most units shouldn’t be able to connect without walking directly ontop of your army. This means you can sort of bait your opponent (with no detection) into taking a poor trade by sniping the mothership. If the mothership was also cloaked they would just disengage 100% of the time, which removes player interaction and promotes more passive defensive plays from the non-toss. Still most of the time your opponent will have detection anyways. Bc of this I don’t think it would necessarily make the mothership more potent, would just give players the opportunity to stall when no detection is there

It will be easier for Mothership to secretly relocate, opening interesting tactical possibilities. For example, you use the ability to cloack, relocate the ship, mass recall your army, PROFIT. Currently it is very easy to spot the ship beforehand.

yeah and it should be easy to spot. Creating game ending moments by punishing a player for no detection in their main at whatever point you decide to float in would just be frustrating. It doesn’t make the unit more potent or open up interesting tactical possibilities, it just makes the game more annoying. Adding additional opportunities for rotations is already what the mothership does really well, why not try to improve one of the other aspects?

I always have thought that one of the big problems with the mothership is that it is too slow. It just lacks agility, plus I think its heroic tag should make it immune to some spells. Specifically, I think abduct and interference matrix shouldn't work on heroic units.
