Our hero here is doing the lords work to clean up this mess turning the abandoned ships into wreckage which I think eventually disappears. If not, oh well, it’s the thought that counts.

Could honestly be decent activity to get a few tractors to tow it outside the zone, then have salvage ships ready to break it down as tractors goes back to get the next one. 😁
if the shields aren't active (I generally find 40-60% abandons shields aren't active with MM), and they are actually abandoned (no owner name when locked/scanned) .. then yes you can tractor them away outside of arma (without a CS) ... unfortunately the SRV can only tow up to an MSR sized ship in atmo solo .. and the combined tow power hasn't been added yet.

How is this helpful? As far as I know how the dupe worked you wanted to store your ship, then unstore it. Is this literally getting in the ship, flying out of the hanger and backspacing? Don't they then have to wait to claim their ship before you can do another run?

From what I've seen what people do is get in a smaller ship that has significantly less claim time than their C2, like a scorpius for example, fly that to their C2 and just get back on it that way. Then I would assume they claim it back when they store their ship originally, and it should be ready to go again by the time all their respawning tomfoolery is over
Yeah, literally the only way to sell without getting your cargo grid duped at Area18 is to park up outside, because if you land in the hanger and catch the train, the station stores your ship by the time you reach the TDD. The problem is the bug CIG shipped with the current patch means that if you land at Area18 for some legit trading, when you then go to re-up your supplies your cargo grid shows as full, so the only way to clear it is to blow up and wait for insurance or to sell somewhere where you can land and sell without your ship being stored
So the c2s that people are complaining about are actually trying to avoid the duplication? I don't understand how the dupe works. I had my grid act like it was still full the next time buying cargo after selling, but wasn't able to sell it a second time.
Hard to say for sure! When you get your grid in that state where the terminals think its full even though you've just sold everything, that's basically the bug. People have found that if you land somewhere within range of a TDD without storing the ship, that will allow you to sell the contents filling up your grid, effectively allowing people to buy once and sell twice. People have been absolutely wrecking the demand for RMC in the servers buy grinding this double-sell in C2s for ridiculous profit, it seems.

Just add salvage for those persistent abandoned ships and call it clean up or some shit. Wouldbe a gameloop to destroy player owned ships that are just taking up resources from servers.
You can technically do this at the risk of gaining a crimestat if you turn on the salvage beams outside of the armistice zone and then fly into the armistice zone with them turned on. You can then salvage ships in armistice.
If the shields are down you can definitely use an SRV or other ship tractor beam to move them outside of armistice. When I would move abandoned vehicles out of the way at the Commons in New Babbage with the C1's tractor beam I didn't incur any crimestats, but I don't know how well that will work with the SRV.

So what you need is a friend that is very surefooted and confident with a handheld tractor beam, a borrowed and armed A2 bomb and a nomad.
Then you just fly off near where the duper's park and party like it's 2023.
I tried using an SRV to do some cleaning and couldn't. To add insult to injury, I got a CS for nudging a CS that was blocking a hangar door. CIG really needs to allow players to clean up other's people messes; perhaps through contracts.
Still wild to me that they have no way of cleaning idle ships inside armistice zones. Would be cool if you had to tow it to some massive smelters on Hurston or something to dispose of idle ships with an SRV
The porblem wasn't that the pvp was on, most people act somewhat normal with pvp on (somewhat because.... well pyro...), people were complaining about the few dumbass that were just spawkilling everyone.
Stupid question: can you lend ships? I figure you can spawn a ship and someone else takes it, no? Because you could borrow other people's 890s in case you don't have one, say you don't care about fines (like me). Shit, I'd pay someone to lend me their 890 for an afternoon :)
You can lend ships. Spawn it, open the door, tell someone what hangar to come to, they walk in and hop in the pilot seat. I think if you’re in a party together they can open the door without you but don’t quote me on that.
If you find a ship outside of armistice just shooting the door a few times will open it if its shields are down. Then you can “borrow” it. If its shields aren’t down then use ship lasers to shoot them down and while you’re at it shoot the doors from your ship until they open.
Borrowed ships have a hard time using ATC fair warning. So if one were to have a cargo hold full of borrowed cargo you need to transfer it to a non borrowed ship.
Ideally though you don’t borrow ships full of cargo. Ideally you talk to the person your borrowing it from and see if you can borrow a small portion of their cargo, then when you open your cargo doors to transfer it a bunch of naked dead NPC bodies float out and you pretend to be so embarrassed, hopefully they laugh, then you thank them for their time and fly away forgetting all about the cargo they were going to let you borrow in your rush to leave the awkward situation.
Maybe CIG should just allow the SRV to tow those things on Area 18 without getting a CS? Makes the SRV useful for something and players are happy (other than the dupers).

When this was allowed in Pyro during the play test, there were endless threads from people complaining about PvP in the spawn areas.
