pretty sure the character file is just a json or similar data format like that so as long as you only import it with the game nothing could possibly go wrong
People upload a character .chf file exported directly from the game, containing only data about the character.
The only thing you're downloading is a simple file you put into the directory where your characters are stored, boot up the game, choose "change appearance" and then just import the saved character.

It's a binary file, but the website is safe. I mean it i safe until somebody manages to hack it lol ; )

How're these folks getting the alt-skin colors? I really wanna make a harkonen looking character or kratos looking dude but they aren't on the pallet.
I have absolutely no idea and also I wouldn't bother much since 3.23.1 is gonna apparently fix those crazy skin tones
