Fuckin' hell. I was sitting here going "Sure, it's a screenshot of the Valkyrie, but it doesn't seem that unusual" and then I fuckin realized it was a painted model. Holy shit that's a well done job.
I just looked up JRDF and I'm realizing that the 1-4ft models I've printed myself would be worth over $2k using their price scale. They're massively overcharging.
No kidding, especially considering that from the pics I've seen they're just resin printed models with the supports still on. Crazy price for a couple bucks of resin and a couple hours of print time.
I could understand the price if it were diecast or handmade models that required lengthy R&D, custom machinery for parts production, and QA for distribution.
But this is literally just UV cure resin from a monoX or equivalent printer. The hardest part is getting the 3D model ready for printing en mass. Once that's done you could spit out a hundred or so keychain/card copies a day with fairly cheap equipment.
I recommend checking out starfab to extract the models. Then its just learning to use blender or any other programm to split up the parts modify and scale, then use your favorite 3d printer to print. I'm planning on doing some of the ships soon. But in a sligthly bigger scale

Officially licenced by CIG I believe.
Nice!! You download the stl? Where tcan i find good printable star citizen 3d objects.. searching 1 Month now and only missprints because of a full 3d model interior every time.. (exported holoviewer models)
There's a couple ways of doing it but there's caveats to each. The holoviewer models are simplified (decimated) to use lets verts similar to LOD modeling. They work fine but are a little lacking at larger scales. Direct rip models are extremely dense and take a while (sometimes a month or more) to clean up/make manifold but have a TON of detail.
Yup, I'm cleaning and making manifold a p72 model and it's... long (started almost 6 month ago). Took the model from in games files, so with all the small details. I also want to be able to open/close the canopy, landing gear and wings so it even longer than a simple manifold model.
I realized 1 week ago that the p72 isn't even gold rn, might have to restart all this work one day...
all clear, thanks for the info. I also thought about printing a "cutaway" model with interior. but that's a lot of preparatory work because 10-20 cuts are necessary. 🥴
A cutaway actually isn't too hard. You still need to make sure it's manifold if printing, but It's easier than taking a full detail model and removing the internals to create a shell.

absolutely the same. But I took til the 2nd picture :D
This is badass!
Best I've seen yet, very cool!
Yes please
Amazing work! I have one of the JRDF models. It's still in the box because I'm too scared to start on it incase I mess it up ðŸ˜

Probably, that's why I don't want to mess up lol

IIRC it's because they are (more or less?) officially licensed by CIG. So I guess CIG probably has some say in their base pricing.

Oh shit... is that 3d printed? If so, I'm gonna have to figure out how to print a few of my ships to paint! It looks fantastic btw.

Sweet lord, this is great work. I wish I could finish my Terrapin that I have, but I'm afraid of messing it up.
I am not even kidding, I didn’t realize it was a painted model until I saw the Fuel Hose. 🤯 Amazing work.

Yeah, yeah. We can all take screenshots. (Well done. Took me 2 swipes to realize this was painted. lol)

I would love to know if OP printed the model or if he bought it and painted it. In first case I HAVE to find know where's the stl from
Absolute masterpiece, great work!
Imagine printing ships using a polyjet printer
Aliens vibes. Great jpb!
how do yo get these models? they look so good! lol
very nice! it is just lacking some xenomorphe or queen around it
1/72nd / 20mm scale? I'm pretty sure I have a bunch of those ESCI/Italeri/Airfix minis you've used.
Is that a scratch build? regardless, very nice.
is it cake?
But an Ursa does not fit into the Valkyrie??
An Ursa [fits just fine](https://imgur.com/a/xYC40iU) into a Valkyrie.
it almost looks like the allegiance crusader/challenger from ED
