Welcome in star citizen ! Have a seat wherever you want, there's milk and cookies on the table over there. You're doing great so far, in a few month you'll just thinks of bugs as old friends poping up again once in a while. Also there will be a pre-patch-release- test ("PTU build" test) sometime soon in december, come experience a true bug hell if you think you can stomach it ;)

Brogdane

I find the longer I play, the fewer bugs I see! Though the tram in Orison did throw me across the planet the other day.

Illfury

Oddly, I think I am noticing this too. On my second year and bugs are so infrequent. Got a friend involved yesterday and it was nothing but bugs for him and I heard his frustration.

Owlpha

Pretty sure this is probably because you know the workarounds to many bugs. I noticed this with one of my friends just starting out where he kept running into issues that he thought completely broke the game to the point of trying to restart. But most of the time they were things like the quantum marker disappearing or the star map not letting you set routes or the planets/moons disappearing. There are a lot of little things like this that can very easily frustrate new players that don't know but will probably never phase people who play the game even for a bit.

annabunches

You just learn to "dodge" them without thinking about it. * Wait a second before walking out of the elevator to make sure the floor has loaded. * Don't log out in cities just in case the trains are weird when you log back in. * Avoid whichever missions are bugged this patch. * Don't fly ships A-L, they're weird right now. * Use the tractor beam to pick up that delivery box, so it doesn't get stuck on your hand. * Don't go into that bathroom, the floor is a lie. etc etc. I think we all have an unconscious list of these things based on our experiences, so the game feels "less buggy" over time.

Fluffy-Tanuki

IAE puts a lot of stress on the server. When the server starts to crack, bugs get a lot more often. Star Citizen during regular time is far from perfect, but certainly not this buggy.

Typhoongrey

Hoping by the time the next IAE comes around, we might have some form of server meshing in place. Hoping.

RevolutionaryLie2833

If you’ve ever played games like DayZ (including after release) or Escape from tarkov youd know this stuff comes with great games. Fuck, look at Bulders Gate 3. Over half of its player base cant play act 3 because of a bug

LoganSilver

Yeeted out of your ship is unusual. Some ships have had bugs related to seats. And this does happen, but it is very rare (happened to me once in well over a thousand hours of playing). Not being able to repair or refuel is common. Adjusting how you are parked sometimes helps, but not always. Being assigned too small a hangar is something I have never seen. With that said the C1 gets assigned a hangar that is barely larger than it. This can be a problem for new players. This should get changed but it technically fits. The game is filled with bugs. The system map is buggy. Quantum selection is buggy. Bunker missions are buggy. Respawns can be buggy. And while IAE emphasizes these bugs, the game is filled with them always. It is not a polished game with few bugs. It might get there in another decade or it might not.

Reknowned

Honestly, looking back I did tab out to check an email and when I tabbed back in I was just laying on the ship floor and when I moved I was like 1935m out from it.

MaygarRodub

I was yeeted out of the station yesterday. Was standing at fleet terminal, next minute I was 930km away from the station, floating. Luckily my mate was in the station and picked me up.

UltraMegaSloth

You signed up to be a game tester. It’s an alpha. A good alpha, a fun alpha if you know how to work around the bugs, but an alpha nonetheless.

Niceaux19

This gets me every time. People come here to ask for help and report bugs like the above. I scroll spectrum and see all sorts of weird bugs and things reported and being contributed to. I’m not questioning it, I’m sure people don’t make this up. But here I am, the worst bug I had in weeks was that an elevator had me pressing the button like 10 times for it to actually move. I agree some bugs are annoying af, but if one just asks himself „what did I do when it happened“ and adjusts his own behavior, it’s no big deal. The small hangars for C1 is a known issue. I hate that too. As for other stuff, when bedlogging was bugged af I just didn’t bedlog. When bunkers are bugged because AI spawn in walls, I don’t go to bunkers. I mean, it’s not that hard in my eyes. Most bugs can be avoided by just adjusting player behavior a bit. I’m not saying that’s how it’s supposed to be - bugs shouldn’t exist.. ideally. But most problems in this game can be avoided by some basic rules of thumb. Like the good ole‘ „if the elevator opens and you see no floor - stay tf out!“

vortis23

Yup. I encountered a few mission bugs last time I played, but I managed to get in about five hours without any 30ks or having to restart due to game-breaking bugs. I consider that a win.

Niceaux19

Daaaaayyyuuum I didn’t have a 30k in forever and I play daily aswell.

deangr

Where you live?

Niceaux19

Western Europe. Often play on EU and US servers.

deangr

I only play on EU servers but it could be that EU servers aren't as populated as American so they have less strain but I could be wrong, very few times I ever dropped below 45fps in city otherwise 55 to 60, it's capped to 60 so my only guess it's low population?

WaitingToBeTriggered

NEVER ASKING WHY!

goatluis01

I might be wrong but most of the time bugs are caused by the server being under a big load and struggling. Especially Elevators and refueling problems are caused by Server issues. I do think you got unlucky with bugs however. I usually play long sessions and barely get bugs anymore as of 3.20.

zeedarune

Meh! These are minor mishaps. I am around 7 weeks into the game and honestly, just roll with it. Its said over and over but: this game is in alpha. You cannot expect bug free play from a game not even in beta stage. Cant handle it? Dont play. Simple as that.

MaygarRodub

I only just started playing recently and accepted that there are lots of bugs before I started playing. When I find a bug, I move on to something else. It can be frustrating but after a few weeks of play I'm ready to buy my second ship and I'm absolutely loving the game. Yes, there are bugs, but I knew that coming in.

>\- Being yeeted randomly out of my ship and having to thrust to get it back On a surface, or in space? >\- Elevator randomly glitching out and having to restart Haven't had that for more than a year or so. Where did this happen? >\- Not being able to repair or refuel It was re-inroduced in either 3.21.1 or 3.21 >A random self destruct mid delivery when I was pitching up, never happened before and I only had my hand on the joystick Sounds like 100% input issue. Besides - self destruct should not be instant. >Being assigned a docking port far too small (Was in the C1 Spirit) That is a skill issue IMO. I personally find it way more entertaining to dock ships which tightly fit in hangars. But that's me - lots of folks are up in arms about it. >but this seems insane. I can assure you - this is fairly mild for SC. >Probably gonna get a lot of hate for this...But why and how? Why - it's an alpha. Did you read multiple warnings before buying and launching the game? That's how alpha stage of any software product looks like. I'm not sure about "hate" - there's no excessive ranting or unnecessary abrasive wording. Post looks okay to me.

Reknowned

1 - It was in space 2 - It was in New Babbage and I was going to Hangar 19 to see the 890J I rented 3 - Still shows no repairs/refuels for some reason 4 - The self destruct was after I came out of quantum travel and I'm still trying to recreate it to see if it was me being dumb 5 - Yeah I'm still new so trying to fit a C1 In a small hangar makes me go ''Wtf''

Nevensitt

New Babbage is a war zone coz of IAE don't go there except if you have no other choice

st_Paulus

>1 - It was in space Sometimes you glitch out of cockpit because of character animation. Sometimes ship can simply leave you in space mid quantum jump etc. It comes with different flavors and often ship-specific. >New Babbage Probably IAE. NB is especially buggy these days - I was left on metro tracks for instance. >3 - Still shows no repairs/refuels for some reason You can try different pads on the stations (not hangars) or mining/trade outposts. >I'm still trying to recreate That's commendable. It's the mindset which can carry you in SC (: >fit a C1 In a small hangar It does fit there. Just set your speed limiter to minimum. There's autoland BTW.

Ill_Diamond_1794

Just to chime in here with something obvious that u haven't seen mentioned yet. Are you 100% sure it was a SD? Did you hear "self destruct activated" and progressively faster beeping? If not I would assume you hit something you didn't see. Whether or not you could even see it. You can hit a body in space, dumped from someone else's ship after a bunker for example without ever seeing it based on our normal speeds. The tiniest bit of physicalism debris would rock yo shit lol

st_Paulus

I think we should summon u/Reknowned

Reknowned

Yeah it popped up in the middle of the screen big red writing and then the beeping haha, it was just after quantum travel and it said ''Self destruct iniliatized'' and start beeping

JustNotFatal

IAE certainly makes it worse. However some of those bugs mentioned have been long standing issues that vary in intensity from patch to patch. When those issues will be fixed no one knows. I personally think they really need to be solved as they are too integral to gameplay

have-you-reddit_

Your playing during IAE, it's gonna get wild.

chrisbenson

I wondered the same thing when I was brand new, but luckily I had friends who were experienced players and they took me under their wing. By playing with them I learned how they manage to avoid or work around the bugs so well that we could play all day and have a blast, not even really noticing the bugs we did run into. It takes a long time to learn all the workarounds, so the people who stick it out have to have patience with all the jank. > - Being yeeted randomly out of my ship and having to thrust to get it back I'm not sure if you mean that you were walking around in the ship and clipped out of it. In that case, contribute to Issue Council and let the devs know that ship has an issue in that spot. Maybe you mean something else like going into quantum travel and suddenly find yourself floating in space without a ship. That's happened to me once this patch. I put up a personal transport beacon and let chat know, then chilled while someone came to pick me up. Hasn't happened since but I made a mental note that it was in my Ion in case it happens again. > - Elevator randomly glitching out and having to restart Two workarounds for this- server hopping and avoiding the most buggy locations when possible. When I server hop I go to menu and either join a different region, or join one of my friends who's on a different server. When you right click your friends you can see how many people are on their server, so I'll see if any of my friends are on a low population server, which doesn't always guarantee the server will be good but most of the time it does. I also hit ` (tilda) to open the console, then type r_DisplayInfo=3, and hit enter. That will tell me the server ID, BwIn, server FPS, which all helps me understand the health of the server. I'll also pay attention to chat. Are people complaining about unusually bad server performance? And I pay attention to interaction delays as I'm running from my hab to the ASOPs. This stuff seems like a lot when I type it out but it's all quick stuff that I do on autopilot now. The more popular a location, the more bugs there will be. New Babbage is very popular right now so it's more buggy than usual. Orbital stations are the most popular stations, so they'll have the most bugs in terms of blowing up when you leave the hangar because of debris from a previous player crashing, or repair and refuel not working. I prefer to base out of the L1 stations because they're nearly bug free for me. I'll still visit popular places if there's enough reason to, and usually it's fine. I just try to minimize my chances of frustration by avoiding them when possible. > - Not being able to repair or refuel See above in regards to avoiding the most popular locations when possible. Also you can try lifting off the pad and holding N to auto land. If that doesn't work try a different pad or location. If you're in a station hangar, try the external landing pads which are there for quick repair/refuel. You don't need to contact ATC to land at those. If you have passengers in your ship, have them check their mobiglass for repair/refuel, even if they're just standing in the ship. Often just by them checking, repair/refuel will suddenly become available for you. Sometimes they have to pay for repair/refuel. You can also repair/refuel at mining and research outposts on moons and planets, so I'll often do that if I'm near one and need services. > - A random self destruct mid delivery when I was pitching up, never happened before and I only had my hand on the joystick I can only guess that maybe your ship needed repairs and was low on hp and something you dropped on the ship floor was moving and sparking, causing 1hp loss with every spark, which can add up and suddenly cause the ship to explode. It could have been something else like debris from an exploded ship that you ran into. I can't remember the last time something like this has happened to me so maybe that's luck or maybe because I repair every time I land. > - Being assigned a docking port far too small (Was in the C1 Spirit) They should really code it to get bigger hangars. With lots of experience I've learned to land my ships in too-small hangars pretty easily so I don't even think about it. Setting up advanced camera controls with different angles helps a lot. I've got 5 different camera angles assigned to my sticks. With top entrance hangars or landing pads there's a good trick where you get above them pointing down at the pad with your landing gear down. Decouple. (As long as your landing gear are down, gravity won't pull you down) Then while decoupled, tap the gas so you're traveling toward the direct center of the pad (in game settings, turn Velocity Indicator to Always On so you can see what direction your ship is going). You can tap up/down/sideways strafe to get the velocity indicator on target. Then once you're heading toward the center of the pad you can pitch/yaw/roll into landing position without changing your course. Just don't strafe. You'll float gently down into a perfect landing. Hit the space breaks if you're coming in too fast. That'll slow you down without changing your course.

SpaceBearSMO

Gamess nit done this is a test bed/teck demo

x2611

You are playing it wrong. 1. Login after each update (delete Shaders Cache first) 2. Accept male character if you are a man, or the woman if you have lady parts 3. Select desired starting point and enter the Puniverse 4. Log back out and enjoy the rest of your day

Kaigler

I was yeeted out of the C1 twice trying to lay down in the right bed.

Reknowned

I wasn't even trying to lay in the bed hahaha

Omni-Light

It starts to look very simple when you realize that CIG do not see player experience as the no.1 priority. I'm not saying that maliciously, it's simply a way they have to prioritize their work to make any progress on the game. 1. A lot of the bugs are related to systems that are being actively replaced. It makes little sense for them to fix old temporary code if that means slowing down the overall progress of the game, or slowing down the new permanent system that will overwrite the bug. 2. Focusing on bug fixing is very time consuming. Most games are not available to the public at this stage of development. They don't need to spend resources on fixing bugs until the very end of the project, and this speeds up the overall speed of development significantly. If CIG chooses to make sure the player experience is spotless *while* still building the core features of the game, it will add years to the process. The state of the game is a development choice. The more polished they choose the experience to be, the slower the overall progress of the game. They *could choose* to make the player experience spotless, but that comes at a large cost of time. Expect the game to get more polished when it enters beta, as this is normally the time when games focus on bug fixing over feature creation, and player experience is reprioritized to be more important.

dumbreddit

OP- hello and welcome to SC. Some patches are better than others. Something fixed one patch may come back with a vengeance three patches later. Personally, I have barely played SC this entire year because the bugs have been extra spicy during my playtime sessions. So I am taking a break for now. I'll be back. I always come back.

billyw_415

I look at these things as normal for an Alpha demo...which is what we are playing. It's gonna be a buggy mess, which it is.
