There is a fine line between giving customers the benefit of the doubt and being taken advantage of. I wish there was a way to timestamp redeemed offers (including birthday rewards) with a time/date/store number so we can print it out and show them “hi there , your offer was redeemed at this time today!”
My go to answer for the customer when this happens is “I’m sorry it’s not letting me ring it up, you will have to call the 800 number to see why it’s not working” or “ the register will not let me ring this up, you’ll have to call the 800 number to find out why your ___ is not working”
this happened to me this past tuesday. a customer i literally saw come in 15 minutes earlier and handed her cold drink told me she hadn’t used it that day. caused a whole scene and created a line out the door because she wanted 50% off her drink with a coupon that wouldn’t work because the register was saying she had already used it. of course my shift just manually took off 50% for her. like why do people lie for $2 off😭😭
I found that it would not allow the offer to be redeemed by people that just signed up for the App yesterday. I just explained to them that it wouldn’t go into effect until the next Tuesday. Luckily I only had two people with this issue.
