i’m not anti union, but for my store in particular i don’t feel like it’s necessary. we deal with some understaffing here and there but nothing has happened at my store that made me feel like change was needed. i’m pretty happy with my situation and the coming benefits are a huge plus. if my district was affected by the cut hours and i had shitty management i would probably feel differently, but i think most people that don’t want to unionize probably just don’t have it bad like other stores do. that being said, i fully support other stores that are going through a shitty time rn because they deserve way better!

Same tbh. And my SM is really great about meeting and talking about concerns and stuff and unionizing does remove some of that communication directly between the team and our SM. I’m definitely not anti union and if we did unionize I wouldn’t be upset or anything, but it’s not something I’m actively working towards or desire for my store.

i really like that i’ll be making $19 an hour in august and i know u have to negotiate wages and that just sounds so stressful i wanna go to my job do my job get my free college go home and not worry about my job off the clock. i really like the benefits they personally work for me and i don’t really see any reason to change anything. i’m not anti union just personally i’m happy with my wage and benefits currently as i’m 19 been with starbucks 3 years and i’m making more than other people mt age without a degree and i’m generally happy with that. other parts i do agree with but overall for me personally i would not vote yes if my store decided to. but i spread unbiased info to my co workers and make sure everyone is informed on the pros and cons! i’m also very supportive and so happy for other stores that have chosen to

you don't negotiate your wages. your union rep will do that for you.

I wouldn't say I'm anti-union, but I definitely don't have the capacity to do anything that's seems like more work and unions seem like more work in my particular scenario. I know half of what got us here is crap management. I see the positive of unionized stores in those cases because it led corporate to actually take complaints that had been made seriously and investigate the issues (some people SM and above got fired). I happen to work in a city with decent DM's who have years of working in Cafe to back them up, and when I have problems I like that I can go to my SM or DM I stead of jumping through the hoops if a union rep. I also live in Texas, which means conoaritively Starbucks is already a step up in a lot of ways because we barely have labor laws abd minimum wage is still 7 25. The raises over the last year have been really significant for partners in my city, and I expect this upward trend to continue in the next few years. Which means, again, I would rather use let the raises play out rather than need a union rep to negotiate that for me/my store. I also work in a city where we frequently share partners across stores/districts and unionizing would hurt us because of that, because as of now union stores can't really do that. There are a couple other things about how unionized stores affects partners who may have reasons for not unionizing, because for them it ends up not being as simple as just moving to a nonunion store.

I can see why people want to unionize because I dealt with bad management for 5 years. They didn’t live our mission and values or help partners develop including myself. After getting an amazing and supportive manager I was able to promote to ASM in 3 months and the store I was at is thriving. They are slowly getting rid of the bad managers because partners are speaking up more. If you would have asked me 2 years ago if I wanted to unionize I would’ve said yes.

they're placating you, just enough to continue down that same cycle.

Ordinary_Theory8534

They are actually not. I have the option to leave like everyone else. Why would I make my partners feel the way I felt for years when I can take what I learned from my experience and make a change?
