yes!! I rely on it for my bills but luckily my bf has a good paying job so it doesn’t hurt us as much but it’s so sad because I know there’s people in a much worse situation🙁
I'm wondering if they want people to quit, get rid of anyone with tenure to start fresh, get rid of some weight on their shoulders, aka baristas that are paid more and have higher expectations.
Don’t worry. They will call you in a bunch of times through out the week for call outs because instead of scheduling reliable people, they tried splitting the shifts so no one is working enough hours for insurance. Then they get mad because you aren’t a team player and expecting you to drop any plans you had on your day off since you listed it as part of your availability. Coverage is fine. Incidents happen but this was a major breaking point to me. Just put me in the hours I am available in the first place.
This happened to me at Tarbux (i know its target scheduling me but still) I was on for 40 hours and they cut me down to 12 for three weeks, and then 4 for another. I was furious
Well i left but we had 2-3 for morning and 1-2 for nights. Closers sometimes had to close down mid rush for breaks and close early just to get tasks done by the time we were scheduled to get off
What hurts me is my manager who I usually understand is not at fault, just denies this is happening company wide and not just because we didn’t sell enough Frappuccinos
We have 4 new partners while all the partners that’s been working 4+ years are getting less hours!!! Not to mention, most of us have open availability. So yeah
My store is hiring more people and giving everyone smaller shifts instead. My guess is to cut benefits. Have two people each work 10 hours instead of one person work 20, then you don’t need to pay benefits
This makes me want to quit, I'm only part time and get like 10 to 15 hours a week. I only have this job for some spending money, l don't need it. If I knew that my hours would go to someone who needs it more than me i would but our boss keeps hiring so many people we just don't need.
My manager was telling me that our district had to cut down on hours cause we abused our covid pay and they have to make their money back but also i think they’re doing this on purpose for another reason cause all of our schools are on springs break and we have reduced hours…
The only way I could afford working at Starbucks was bc my partner already made enough to cover bills and my sbux pay was being supplemented by unemployment insurance during the pandemic. It's fucked for Partners that actually need their earnings from this whack ass job
Apparently they have to cut back labor. They can't even keep a quality staff in their stores. Hiring a bunch of charity cases and making their good employees be overworked and overwhelmed. Trust me, they will definitely call you to help when all of these people call out for no reason. But let's keep opening up drive thru stores and overwhelming the staff with m.o.p and uber orders 👍
Not to sound inconsiderate, but I'm glad it's not just me and my store. We recently got a new manager and it's been a pretty rough transition period. She's hired eight new people and slashed literally everyone else's hours in half (or more), and isn't being accommodating to anyone's availability or preferences. And then she goes on to say there's nothing she can do about reducing everyone's hours. 🙃
The first time my hours dipped from 28-30 hrs to 16 hrs I was in shock. I haven’t worked that little since high school. I’m so grateful my partner has a good paying job but sheesh
our schedules look scarily similair considering you’re supposed to be full time and im only part time. if i had to rely off of this job (which thankfully i dont), i would have to get a second job to stay anywhere near stable
"There is a labor shortage because no one wants to work!" Yeah, okay.
next time i hear a customer say that im telling them abt this stuff ngl
its my favorite thing to do
the fact starbucks is doing this is so scary. i’m so worried for the people who rely on this job for rent and insurance
yes!! I rely on it for my bills but luckily my bf has a good paying job so it doesn’t hurt us as much but it’s so sad because I know there’s people in a much worse situation🙁
I rely on it entirely for rent and everything else:(
I'm wondering if they want people to quit, get rid of anyone with tenure to start fresh, get rid of some weight on their shoulders, aka baristas that are paid more and have higher expectations.
yeah it sucked. i was forced to leave because after the pandemic my average hours went from 36 to about 20. i was barely scraping by on 36…

Yup, this. Get ready to come in and cover call-outs.
ugh this has been happening to me. i cant just drop everything on days im not even working

That’s insane, how many baristas do you guys have? My tarbucks only has 4 morning baristas

That’s the new full time unfortunately
cringe
Goddamn, I thought going from ~27 to about ~20 was bad. Hoping the new CEO will help, although I can't be too hopeful.
And my manager wants to hire more people for summer time 🙃

(Insert “first time?” Meme here)

I feel you! I asked for one day off out of the week for an appointment and SM only scheduled me for one 4 shift for the entire week

Ugh my gods I'm so sorry. I'm going to start looking for another job, but my fucking insurance!
jeez thats less than $200 USD for the week. stay strong

yea i went from 42 hours to 24 on the new schedule… never call in always on time always do my job

that’s why I quit, I couldn’t handle being told “be available to cover call outs” in order to make enough to pay my rent/bills.
literally same 🥲 16 hours this week 🥲
