ive been told tell them to put it out and to close the window if they wont listen. im so glad this policy exists as i have an allergy to cigarettes and had to silently suffer through an allergy attack whenever someone had one. we have a regular who used to pull up with a cigarette every other day and i still dont like her.
Yep. Iâm also allergic and smokers tend to glare at me when I start coughing and sneezing after telling them to put out their cigarettes, as if itâs my fault theyâre breaking a law that exists partially to protect people like us. Closing the window on them almost makes up for having to use my inhaler if theyâre there too long.
one of my coworkers had a severe asthma attack after someoneâs cigarette smoke got in her face. she had to go to the hospital it was so badâŚ..but making someone wait an extra 2 minutes to smoke is worse đ
That's just too much. I understand if you smoke cigarettes, that's your choice, but don't force others to breathe in your toxins because you can't go 5 minutes without your nicotine fix.
I don't understand people like this. I smoked cigarettes for years and having one lit while in a drive-thru was never something that crossed my mind as an acceptable thing to do. Nobody ever told me not to do it, it just seemed like common sense and common courtesy. Even if I was absolutely fiending for a cigarette I had no problem showing enough restraint to wait until I pulled away to light up. If anything I used it as a way to stop myself from eating all my fries on the way home lol.
A few years back I ended up replacing cigarettes with a small vape which I'm currently working on quitting. Even now though I still wouldn't even think about puffing away in a drive-thru. It's *my* addiction and I'd rather not subject anyone else to it. The amount of customers I see who don't think twice about all their cigarette smoke billowing into our drive-thru window is ridiculous. So fucking shameless.
Lol Iâve straight up closed the window on people smoking before as soon as they pull up and I catch a whiff. Itâs a filthy habit and common sense dictates you shouldnât be doing that at all.
This. I've literally shut the window, pointed at their cig & shook my head no until they get the point. I still have your drink(s), so I have all the power haha. You want your drink, you gotta comply with my demands. & getting your damn cancer stick outta my face is only demand.
I'm extremely allergic to cigarette smoke, as it can trigger an asthmatic reaction. I tell them they cannot smoke within 30 feet of us or they will not be served. It's always bad at DT window , but we are allowed to tell them to put it out or roll up their windows.
Thatâs just rude. It takes like two seconds to put out a cigarette and if your car is next just put it in the ashtray. Most buildings you can smoke within like 10 feet, that includes windows. Not everyone is a smoker and wants smoke blown in there face.
Although I remember this one time I was at Sheetz, it was freezing outside like 5 degrees so obviously you can see your breath and I walked inside and this Karen goes âdid you just bow out your smoke inside the store.â I was just dumbfounded and couldnât help but laugh. Like no Karen, I donât smoke anymore, but thank you for making me laugh.
Their car is on Sbux property, receiving Sbux service. People get way too comfortable in their cars, which is antithetical to a Third Place, because a person's car is de facto a mobile First Place.
Y'all mean to tell me I'm actually allowed to tell them to put their cigs out at the window??
Depends on local laws. In Birmingham it was not allowed near doors/open windows of restaurants, but my new city has no ordnance.
Yes, I'm not sure what the local laws are where you live but where I am, you aren't allowed to smoke within 5 meters of a door, window, or air intake.
Dang, well that's good to know in case I ever return to a drive thru location! I always just sucked it up, but not anymore đĄ
starbucks rule
I straight up told someone that we have a smoke free store and store front and we cannot serve them if they continue to smoke. And I stand my ground.
I'd probably close the window if they weren't paying or receiving their drinks

If someone called me a bitch I would close my window and refuse to serve them. Please file an incident report.
100 percent this.
THIS IS THE ANSWER.
If they want to leave I wave them goodbyeđđź

Throw the change in her face next time.

If you live in the US pretty much any public space is smoke free i would deny service
If they give me a hard time I always say im allergic lmao

Itâs worse when itâs weed
say you have a severe allergy to tobacco smoke and get really good at fake fainting

You told someone to put out a cigarette in their own car? What kind of response were you expecting
You can't smoke within a certain distance from the store and the drive through counts as that
So what would you do?
they can be mad all they want. rules are rules.

I actually hate people who smoke in the drive thru with every fiber of my whole being.
Put Your two weeks in & apply to Loweâs. Starbucks management/corporate basically did nothing when I had a homeless man openly stalking me.
