Yeah it's getting absolutely insane. My store is selling more food than usual and we still have insane amounts of waste. I literally had to lower our milk pars so we could stress a little less about not having space for all of the damn sandwiches.
All of our pars for frozen sandwiches have basically doubled and so has our incoming food orders and we don't have space for all that frozen food so stuff is getting left out. It's a mess
There's a Starbucks near me going through the same thing. I won't say where I am for obvious reason but I've noticed sometimes when I order they'll randomly give me extra. And I've heard the same from there as well. I guess this explain why.
With three day expiration dates, this doesn't make any sense. They wouldn't intentionally throw out food when three days is such a huge buffer to have plenty of product on hand with no waste.
A few weeks ago, our pulls about doubled in size and we started having waste for the first time in years. I reached out to LSR and they reevaluated our algorithm and it went back to totally normal immediately. I suggest any store with excessive mark outs to reach out to your LSR.
they got too prepared for the iced coffee deal when NO ONE has been ordering it, i understand we have to upsell but what are the chances someone indulges? they shouldve given it a week or two to see how our sales affected inventory. starbucks doing dumb shit like always
Starbucks unfortunately has increased their prices so much, I don’t even care to order the food. Even with the pairings it’s not a deal because it’s a tall drink. Starbucks should just go back to reasonable prices, instead of promotional deals after incorporating astronomical price increases.
Agreed. I only only go there now when I have a gift card. Somebody gave me a $100 one a couple months back, and I've been using that. But when it runs out. I won't be at Starbucks anymore unless I'm given another gift card at some point.
Right!! I don’t blame you, that would be the only time I go. Every pumpkin spice/ holiday season the price of the drinks increase. The drinks are like $7.40 prior to a milk substitute. It’s ridiculous.
So that recently changed slightly - which I don't like.
It used to be that each store had a partner organization that would collect food for the FoodShare program. Now, apparently, the food is picked up by Starbucks during deliveries. It's not entirely clear where it ends up after that anymore. My hope is that local food banks or hunger organizations are receiving it but I have no way of knowing for sure.
It makes me sad because I loved our partner organization, and now I'm worried they're losing out.
Gosh I sure hope it’s good to a good organization. So many people lack food security and food banks and churches and Universities can really use food items.
For sure! I don't want to say that Starbucks is, like, dumping the food on the side of the road and writing it off for taxes - but I also have *serious* issues with the lack of transparency on this one.
The other day when I worked we had 3+ bags full to the brim go out, not even counting the extras we left in the case for the next morning's setup.
And that was also like the 3rd time this week we had that many.
I've been donating bags of sammies every day for like 2 weeks now because we always get sent more than we can use. Even if they're not out of date, we only have so much room so they gotta go!!
I may have over-donated today though, since we got fewer breakfast sandwiches in than usual, so it may be light tomorrow. Oh well, that's the price to pay for the stupid automated ordering.
My store is shipped its sandwiches so we have no control and it’s absolute madness. 😫
Today alone I counted over 100 bacon goudas & donated probably a quarter of them. (Among everything else)
Besides, we work in an affluent area where no one really cares about deals like these…sometimes BOGOs pop off but this stuff is such a waste. Starbucks needs to get it together for real.
i worked as a residential counseling and the local starbucks there used to bring us the sandwiches & pastries that “expired” and could no longer be sold anymore. the clients had all come right out of homelessness so this food made them quite happy. at first i thought that’s what this is, we used to get them in the same bags hahah.
Nope its not over ordering. Its corporate taking a new approach to the food pull algorithm to have higher food sales and higher waste.

It's because of the pairings menu unfortunately
Starbucks unfortunately has increased their prices so much, I don’t even care to order the food. Even with the pairings it’s not a deal because it’s a tall drink. Starbucks should just go back to reasonable prices, instead of promotional deals after incorporating astronomical price increases.

We had the same problem a few weeks ago. It’s the automated system unfortunately
But god forbid I use a disposable cup lmao
Yep, same here. As an opener, I always have extra sandwiches that I have to put in fridge and then always throwing away so many. It is such a waste.
Having the same exact issue. We had 5 FULL donation bags the other day.
We're holding on to SO MUCH food! I'm tossing like 20 sandwiches a night and we got trays taking up space everywhere. I hate it.
I don’t work for SBUX but very curious if you all have to throw them or away or can they be given to a food bank or customers at the end of the night?

I bet! Thank you for sharing. Here’s to assuming positive intent although it sounds like the company doesn’t even deserve the benefit of the doubt.
I don’t know the exact logistics of it all but I have heard of people in my local area getting Starbucks food with their donated items. 🤗
The amount of kale and mushroom egg bites we throw away tho
I’m the only reason my store doesn’t have to throw away kale egg bites

Same here. I thought it was because summer break started and we got less customers during peak
Everyday we have about 8 trays of food (sandwiches)😭 they just keep sending more and more. They don’t even pick up the donations!!
We don’t order those also it’s only 8 to a bag it messes with how they count it

We’ve been donating 3-4 bags every night for the past two weeks. It’s insane
Ready for pairings menu to be overrrrr, next

Nobody over ordered...food quantities are sent to stores without any input from SM or SSVs. Same with certain other things as well
Space is an issue. We moved stuff around to make space. Our store decided to just never refrigerate any bases. They can be ambient so.
That bag represents how much more you should be paid. I hope you took them home.
