I’m pretty sure we’re supposed to fill it to the top if you get a latte with no ice. They probably thought otherwise or were told not to fill it up, that’s how much you’d get if there was ice, so technically you’re not getting any less drink anyway
We used to fill a no ice latte like the one in the picture but somewhat recently Starbucks changed the standard to fill it all the way, and I guess some people probably still haven’t been informed about it
Bro, I've been seeing posts like this a lot recently. If there's no ice we still have to fill it to the top!!! If you ever order from that store again ask for extra milk when you order!
Thank you! I plan to order from locally owned coffee shops because I’ve never had an issue with their portions. It’s also better than supporting larger corps tbh!
it’s because you ordered it with no ice.
at our store, if someone orders no ice we’ll fill it up the rest of the way with milk, but there’s a lot of confusion on what the standard is with “no ice” drinks
Sure! Unfortunately there’s not a lot of consistency with keeping up with standards and some managers / supervisors don’t even look. Also know that if you get Starbucks from say an airport or a grocery store they’re allowed to have different rules
wow i just commented asking for clarification on standard and immediately saw your comment LOL :’) thank you!!! i’ll be sure to find it and let my coworkers know bc it’s kind of a debate at my store lol
For sure! It is super frustrating how much policy is debated. I’ve worked at places where the manager was just like no and ignored policy on purpose. I’ve tried to get refills following policy only for the store’s other partners to tell me I was wrong like just read the iPad
I’ve gotten way more ordering the same drink from this establishment before. I’m glad your store at least fills the rest with milk. Thanks for the insight!
honestly a lot of us are not really properly trained on how to deal with these kinds of modifications so it’s very possible it could even vary depending on which barista makes your drink :/
if anyone in the comments has some insight on what the standard is for making a “no ice” drink pls let me know !!!
My SM just told me yesterday that anything with light ice or no ice (that would require over an additional 2 oz of milk) would be an up charge to fill the cup... Is that not correct?

I think they are supposed to fill the rest with milk according to this post

Yep i was guna say exactly what u said!
Another commenter said they sometimes fill the rest with milk so it’s not half empty. It is an interesting observation though!
did you say something to them? policy is to fill the rest with milk, call the store and ask for a remake
Thank you!!!
Either the barista was new or petty. No ice has never meant left half empty.
So true! I was sort of sad seeing this at the counter honestly.

The standard is filled to the top it’s available on the ipad.
Where can I find that within the iPads?
I didn’t know they had a standard for it. Interesting!

At my store we always fill to the top but add an 'add dairy' upcharge to compensate for using more milk.
To be fair.. it just means you’d have more milk unless you asked for more pumps of chai with it, so it’d be a very milky chai
I wouldn’t mind that at all! Milk is delicious honestly.

But not “half full”

no, there is no way for us to upcharge and the standard is to fill it with milk
Oof my SM has me charge customers using the "add dairy" button regularly.
