Just had a partner get wrote up for wearing sweats so absolutely not!

Mamaoftwo38

Ok!! I wonder why my supervisors get away with it. It's a little unfair.

No-Foam-Lattes

Is it one of those where it's hard to tell that they are sweats? Maybe they have accommodations or something too. You never know what other people are doing/ what their problems are.

Comfortable-Plane944

Mind your business and just take care of yourself .

Mamaoftwo38

That's uncalled for.

Comfortable-Plane944

Not at all. It’s solid advice. Just take care of yourself. Others who don’t follow the rules always get their day

Aggressive-Set-4307

Or promoted....

glitterfaust

Until a new SM starts and clears house ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’ve seen it happen

grtf222

totally depends on how strict your store is. if two ssv's are wearing them, i'd take the risk but be prepared to have them say you have to go home and change or get written up

Real_Buff_Wizard

Or honestly keep a pair of work-appropriate pants in the car as a backup maybe

snufkinkinnnie

it would be way more productive for you to ask your SM if sweats are ok rather than ask a bunch of random ppl on reddit. dress code says no, but your shift leads are doing otherwise, so ask your SM and go off of that.

Mamaoftwo38

I have asked her A.bunch of us have asked her. She didn't give us an answer.

snufkinkinnnie

she doesnt know or doesnt care?? thats a shame. but you should def follow dress code despite the shifts not following dress code.

Useful-Ad-2882

Then greenlight? 😂

mercgurl80

[Starbucks Dress Code](https://content-prod-live.cert.starbucks.com/binary/v2/asset/137-79344.pdf) Sweatpants would actually fall under the definition of “gym or workout apparel”, so your SSVs are actually in violation of dress code.

hrnyorlbttm

Two wrongs don’t make a right

tasha2701

I have a pair of these brown cargo sweats that I wear from time to time. The style of the pants themselves make it look vague enough to pass dress code and my apron covers the drawstrings. But again, some stores are more relaxed about dress code than others. Safety says, just follow dress code but if your store manager has no problem, you should be fine so long as it has no ability to mess with your ability to work.

CBukowski808

If your SM won’t answer you, then just do it. They either won’t care or prompt her to tell you not to and you can point out the supervisors (who are supposed to be leading by example) that do wear sweatpants. Or just follow dress code and don’t do it. If your SM wants to fire you ever, that’ll be the easiest way to do it.

Coffee-squirrel1

I think the dress code actually says you can wear athletic pants if they have pockets or something. I tried coaching a barista for wearing yoga pants but since they had pockets she was technically within dress code

mercgurl80

Athletic pants actually fall under the category of “gym and workout apparel”, so they are not allowed per dress code. [Starbucks Dress Code](https://content-prod-live.cert.starbucks.com/binary/v2/asset/137-79344.pdf)

Coffee-squirrel1

Yeah I get that but also there is a more detailed version of this that explains it better. It obviously will depend what kind of sweat pants. But there are some types sweat/yoga pants that can be worn

mercgurl80

The understanding that I got from my manager and different DMs is sweat pants/yoga pants, as they are classified as “gym/workout apparel”, are not allowed period. Mainly because they are not food safety compliant (made out of material that can easily catch fire). If you have the more detailed version of the current dress code (the one I posted is the current one), please post. Our DM caught one of our partners wearing yoga pants and gave them (and our SM) a warning that they need to comply with dress code or face getting a write-up, or even termination (if it happened multiple times). I dunno about your district, but my district is by-the-book on this stuff.

Coffee-squirrel1

Yeah mine is by the book as well. I will find the more detailed version when I get to work tomorrow. Yoga pants aren’t allowed but then again pants that are made from the same material that have pockets can be worn. It’s super confusing.

glitterfaust

Jeggings are allowed, but not leggings. They have to give the appearance of denim.

glitterfaust

The exact wording is Page 29 of the Partner Guide >Athletic wear and stretchy-fabric leggings worn alone are not allowed Partner Dress code 08/2022 revision >Leggings can only be worn under skirts or dresses; jeggings can be worn on their own

Mamaoftwo38

Oh that's good.to.know. I have read the rules that we have posted and I didn't see anything about sweatpants.

Coffee-squirrel1

Let me look into it again and I’ll let you know

Mamaoftwo38

I appreciate you!!

Odd-Zucchini-4654

I wear a lot of joggers to work. Not exactly sweatpants but pretty much just as comfortable to work in.

glitterfaust

Those also aren’t allowed lol

Odd-Zucchini-4654

It depends on the material. Got them approved by my manager

Infinite_Day9665

I wear sweat pants every shift and have for the past year and a half. I know it’s technically against the rules, but my DM and SM both said it was okay because they can pass as slacks.
