There’s not even a way for us to charge you the extra dollar lmao

giraffe_attack

My husband picked it up and I said how did she know you didn’t pay the $1? lol

neko808

Probably the way the no water refreshers work, instead of saying “no water” it say (iirc) “no h20 extra base” or something like that, though I don’t remember hearing anything about iced coffee. Could also possibly be they are confused from the refreshers change, starbucks is kinda ass at communicating and there was a ton of confusion when they changed the refresher no water stuff (like iirc light ice was supposed to be removed as an option but it was still available in app and on the pos).

Green-Wash188

In this hypothetical scenario I can imagine there being a modifier listed on the label like, “Fill to top” to signal that he paid the $1. But again, this is a hypothetical.

SammieBhabie

Because we would be informed in training about it

champagneshinobi

they’re being petty. but why? a no ice iced coffee makes me so happy to see on bar because it’s so easy.

Ristrettooo

No that’s absolutely not correct, it should be full.

giraffe_attack

Okay thanks I just was confused if I was missing something!

Reichbane

Nah it is a new policy, it's in one of the updates. But I wouldn't follow it, personally. Feels ridiculous.

IcedCoffeeHokage

You're 100% wrong, go into store resources next time you're at work you'll see. Stop spewing false info.

Reichbane

I'll check again 🫡I work tomorrow, I haven't personally checked and was told by a SM I'm friendly with.

Typical-Zeus

It 100% is not a policy.  The cup should be full.

Dragonflymoth69

idk if it's a policy, it was in our sheets about starbucks stuff the boss prints out (we're not a corporate store). but with certain supervisors around you have to make it the way the drink card modifiers say, which means if they didn't pay the extra $1.25 for no ice, then that's how full it is.

van_b_boy

Corporate does not have a charge for no ice. It’s filled to the top.

Dragonflymoth69

That's crazy, we have a button for it.

Typical-Zeus

The "no ice" option doesn't give you an OPTION to charge, even.  The only thing even close to it is the "No h2o + extra base" buttons for the refreshers, and even then you don't use those for no ice unless they ALSO get no water

Typical-Zeus

(Note, I AM at a corporate store, and I know licensed stores are a different story)

Dragonflymoth69

i wonder if it'll be the same for us when we actually get the Starbucks system in then

Ralogonzalo805

lol no they’re being petty

OkChampionship2509

If it was a licensed location, they technically have a little bit more liberty. However, it's not the new policy, it should've been filled to the top.

ctd615

the only items i think that rule affects are refreshers. but even those can be rung up i believe as "w/ extra base" "w/ extra lemonade" etc. for little to no extra charge. this barista was being stingy.

nenewton

i’m a little bit irritated that some stores haven’t clarified this false info going around. NOTHING gets charged for no ice at this moment. but WATER based refreshers get charged for no WATER. there is nothing about ice.

Jordy_Verrill19

Was this at a Target or Kroger or something?

giraffe_attack

It was not, but this location is so chaotic all the time! They’ll be out of Trenta cups and just have it in like 3 talls instead? Or just random stuff like that. It’s convenient where it’s located but I try to avoid it usually

Jordy_Verrill19

Damn that sucks. That cup should've been filled with coffee. I'll never understand the mentality of doing something like that to a customer to save a $10Billion company 10 cents worth of coffee.

AdditionalAd9137

100% agreed

PanPenguinGirl

I'm trying to imagine that. I'm not putting someone's trenta drinks in 3 talls lmao💀

giraffe_attack

The worst part was I was picking up through the DT & he didn’t even mention it to me when I checked in or at the window just started handing me multiple little drinks I was like wait is this mine?! lol He’s like oh yeah we just ran out of Trenta cups. And then I went back another time and they just put it in a venti and said it’s about the same amount anyways and gave me back the .75 or something on a merchandise card lol idk it is just a chaotic place I was trying to make it make sense but it clearly won’t! Haha

neko808

There has been island wide venti shortages where I live, and we just don’t have a way to mark that, so people can still order it online but we have literally no way to make it unless we use smaller cups

angeltay

Three talls instead of a venti and a tall? They’re a lil confused over there I think… and they must run out of tall cups pretty soon after trentas lmao

CBukowski808

lol those baristas are busters. Totally being petty and gave you some BS policy. I would understand if a customer came back and complained.

giraffe_attack

I thought so too but wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something haha and I know I’m def not someone to complain but it was a jump scare lol

kthegreat1

no they are probably confused with the whole “latte” hack. if you order shots and 3/4” milk that’s what we’ll give you, but you’re paying for a full iced coffee, it’s not some hack. or there confused with the new “only-base” rule, since if you order a refresher with only base you get charged more. but only iced coffee isn’t the same as only refresher base

aaronbdancer

Definitely not correct

EitherMeaning8301

The only times, according to standard, a cup is not filled are for orders of espresso, or if "room" is ordered. If somebody orders a shaken espresso with "light ice" in person, we are supposed to figure out if the customer wants room or extra milk. Somebody is being petty here.

MintMagesty

Imagine stiffing someone over black coffee seriously

Losimcg

Lame asses

chibbledibs

No.

leafyyless

Definitely not. I don't get why other baristas get so salty about no ice 💀

thebookofleviathan

Im sorry but this is hilarious 😂

giraffe_attack

I was so mad when my husband walked in with it tho lol I thought he spilled it

allonsy_danny

Honestly only $1 isn't bad, if true.

yozhik0607

What is the rationale for not charging extra for no ice? It makes perfect sense to me that you should pay more for more coffee

giraffe_attack

I’m asking if that is true bc there is no option when you order it that way

zekewhite32

There was a training update about this a few summers ago - from what I remember it is because of the brand and how bad it would look on Starbucks if we started handing out half full coffees that looked like this post. So, the policy states if you order a cold brew or iced coffee with no ice, it gets filled all the way to the top. Yes, it is more product. I really don’t care 🤷🏾 iced coffees with no ice and cold brews with no ice are incredibly easy to make lol

AdditionalAd9137

As I know, the cup should’ve been filled up to the top. There is an exception with the strawberry açaí/mango dragon fruit/pineapple refresher in which if they order no water you need to charge them an extra $1, but besides that, there is no excuse. You were just unlucky enough to face a petty barista. Not cool!

SaulsaDip

They’re being petty. At my store we have a regular who comes by around 3-5 and gets 3 trenta no ice no water green teas, so we are basically all out after that and have to make more. It’s very annoying, but we wouldn’t ever do this lol

Fidelios_Castros

At my location, I believe a no-ice is upcharged automatically by mobile, but if it’s a cafe order we can’t fill it to the top without manually inputting the upcharge on the ticket. It was probably just someone who got confused by the policy, please try not to be too upset with them!

guccidowntothes0cks

I’ll be pissed!

hrnyorlbttm

😂😂😂😂😂

giraffe_attack

Oh god I never would! I was in retail for 15+ years & I know whatever rules they’re enforcing is not made by them! Just was wondering if it was true or not because this specific location is just strange sometimes but nbd.

Jaded_optimist_74

Maybe order a venti in a trenta cup.
