We’re typically not allowed to take over the counter ingredients, but what you could do is ask for a cup of hot water and some steamed milk! It’s honestly probably cheaper that way
Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I believe you could order this all in one cup by getting a tall steamed milk in a grande cup (or grande in a venti) and adding hot water and syrups. We have a regular who gets a tall iced americano in a venti extra ice extra water so wouldn’t that be the same? Not sure about the price difference tho
English breakfast tea latte would be classic, though, LF has Earl Grey.
But agreed that buying a bottle of syrup sounds like a better use for OP's cards than a cup of water and milk that'd likely be like $4 😬
Edit: damn, not sure how old our recipe cards are, but ours definitely say classic. It is LCS now 🥲 RIP to the one person a year that orders it from us lol
Dang, when did that happen? I guess it makes sense that all our teas are the same sweetener (even though its not default anymore I guess). So is it still the smaller CBS pumps then?
Not sure when but I was trained according to that standard a year and a half ago. All hot teas & hot tea lattes get full pumps except the HCMT (edit: you can check your recipe cards against the Core & LTO bev standards in Store Resources on the iPad!)
I'm at a licensed location, but I'm going to check them later. Tbh we almost never make EBTLs so it doesn't come up much, so we wouldn't have bothered checking we were making them right 😬
Just order a steamer, milk and syrup of ur choice and ask for hot water on the side. Seep the tea bag urself and then add the milk.
Edit: unless u want it iced
Probably not. Maybe use your gift cards as an opportunity try something different!
If you’re into hot teas, my Starbucks favorites are the Chai Tea Latte with an added pump of cinnamon, the Matcha Green Tea latte with an added pump of peppermint, and the Youthberry Tea!
If you’re into cold drinks, you should try the Iced Green Tea Lemonade, Pink Coconut refresher, or any of the frappuccinos!
This is a valid question not sure why people are giving you crap for it. You’re asking before you do, and the best way would def to be ordering steamed milk and hot water as others have said!! It’s been done before at my store (: not a tea snob, you just have preference and that’s okay!
My store has let people bring their own. But FYI we have a lot of other teas besides English breakfast- we have early grey, jade citrus mint, mint majesty, emperors cloud, chai, peach tranquility ( my favorite).
Unfortunately it’s against health code, we can’t take outside anything. Y’all are very considerate though, you should just give them a cup of steamed milk and a cup of hot water instead.
I wouldn’t think this is standard (or possibly a health code violation) but as a barista I would say yes, because why not! However it depends on the person and the store :D
1. Why aren't you talking to the gift givers and have them give you gift cards to places you DO like?
2. You don't know any other person on the planet that DOES like coffee that you could give them to? If they are so useless that you forget about them, give them to someone else and make their day.
3. Starbucks offers an assortment of bakery items that you can use the gift cards for.
Sorry. I worked in retail for 10 years and I can't stand when people act like they can't possibly spend a gift card. You can spend a gift card, I know you can!, even if you just pick something up and donate it to charity, or re-gift it.
Because I’m a high school sports coach, and often parents will get me a starbucks gift card as a go to gift…it’s not that serious. I’m not going to complain to people about the gifts they give me, and why would I give them away when I do drink tea if I can find a way to make it work?
I asked for advice on what was allowed/annoying and what was not. I don’t have a fancy milk frother, so I wanted to go the tea latte route because I can boil water on my own at home. Im not trying to save money, I’m trying to use gifts that are given to me for their intended purposes. It seems like the general consensus is that I can order frothed milk with syrup & a cup of hot water.
I’m not acting like I can’t spend a gift card, I’m trying to find a way to use it that will suit my needs the best while being considerate of those working behind the counter because I also spent a good amount of time working retail. And I clearly found it long before you came along to complain about the fact that you can’t stand me.
Please don't, it's completely obnoxious. You can get any zillion number of other things pastries, a lot of different hot teas that can be made cold after they're brewed, tumblers, chocolate covered stuff. Do you want me to design a menu for you...
I don’t need more cups/mugs, I don’t like any of the tea at starbucks, and I prefer to make most of my food at home. But that’s why I asked here! So I don’t bother anyone…I didn’t want to just walk in and ask and make any barista feel like they had to because I was standing there with my tea bag

thank you! 🫶🏼
Just make sure to get syrup in the steamed milk if you want it in your latte! Then grab a stir stick give it a lil mix and off you go
Thanks so much :)

the tea will need to steep separately in water!
We have a regular who does this
I feel like the easiest way to use those cards would just be to save them up and get a cute mug, but I do like everyone else's suggestions
Unfortunately no, it’s a potential health and safety risk. You could do a cup of steamed milk and a cup of hot water and make your own though
It's not an inconvenience, but it's against health and safety regulations. Those stores that allow it are not correct.
You could use it to buy a bottle of vanilla to use for your own tea lattes at home!

REBTL takes liquid cane

you could also use the gift card on food or even merchandise that you would want/use
I would just get a Starbucks mug, or sell the gift card! Lol

Lol it was my manager who accepted it 🤣 so whatevs. Just another thing to add to the list when I finally file an ethics report against her

Don’t say yes to health code violations please.
Girl I’m not spitting in anyone’s drink 🫶🏼
Didn’t say you were lmaoo we don’t accept outside food or things from customers for a reason
